Watching last night I was reminded of the struggles in 2015 against FIU, Wake Forest and the fourth quarter collapse against Rutgers. I also was thinking about how this team stuck with what they were doing and the way they handled their business against Maryland and Purdue. While we made a bowl game, we were still somewhat flawed, with the imbalance between our offense and defense. While I am not sure what the total number of wins will be this year, I am confident that we have moved beyond being a team that consistently has 1, 2, 3 or 4 wins a season. It appears we are ready to become a consistent 5, 6 or 7 wins a season team. Not where we want to be, but a solid step forward to get us to where we want to be.

Best of luck, where ever you may find a new home. You are a player that Hoosier fans will follow and root for in your new basketball home. Your decision to become a Hoosier paid off in serious contributions to a Big Ten Championship season. Thank you Harrison.

During the past two recruiting classes and in the 2017 class, there have been QBs that would have been good fits for the CKW offense and been impact recruits.   Tommy Stevens - ended up at PSU   Brandon Peters  -  going to UM   Hunter Johnson  -  committed to Clemson   What is it that prevents IU from closing on QBs from Indiana?   Will any of these three become a starter at their destination schools?

Anyone else get frustrated with the traffic yesterday (or previous games)?   It took us 1 hour 39 minutes from Lot 14 to Martinsville. We averaged 8 MPH.   I thought about old 37, but worried about ice on the road. When we got to the intersection where old 37 traffic meets new 37, there was a long line of cars that had made the icy drive and were waiting to get out on to the highway.   On Tuesday night it took us 40 minutes to get from Casey's on SR39 out to SR37 where traffic was still bumper to bumper.   There has to be something that can be done for game days.

Quoting CKW:  "They will get a chance to practice prior to our bowl trip and will be here on January 1.   Not sure how this works, but this is a huge opportunity for RLagow to get introduced the our offense and his weapons for next year before spring practice starts.

Lots of  thoughts about what we need to do to fill the Memorial Stadium, specifically student attendance. Student attendence, actual butts in seats, needs to improve.   When I first started attending games in Memorial Stadium, officlals ignored people bringing in beer and alcohol.   Is it time to consider areas in the stadium where beer and wine would be available to fans?   Would that influence some of the half-time tailgaters to stay or come back after half time?

There is a lot of enthusiasm about IUFB righ now, with the bowl game and some recent recruiting wins.   It is frequently said on the many boards, if IUFB would start winning consistently attendance would improve.   Historically that has not been the case.  In 1993, our Hoosiers were 6-1 going into the Michigan State game.   We drew only 40,110 to witness our 10-0 victory over MSU. A few weeks later we drew 48,000 (after consecutive losses at PSU & OSU) as we beat Purdue.   In 2007 our 4-1 Hoosers drew just 32,009 to witness our win over Minnesota.   One of the keys to recruiting is brining prospects to a full stadium. Bringing recruits to a half full stadium puts our coaches at a severe disadvantage.   What will it take to improve attendence?    

The game was somewhat odd.  While we jumped out to a big lead, the lead dropped to 14 points midway in the second half and was just 18 or 19 points with 4 or 5 minutes to go.  Not the right situation to empty the bench.    The two best defensive efforts were RJ and Harrison Niegro.    This game was called ridiculously close in open space. Both teams had 10 fouls with 5 or 6 minutes to go in first half.  IFPW had 5 fouls in the first 5 possessions of the second half. We ended up with 5 quick fouls after theirs.   Yogi's 38 points were extremely efficient and was not the result of selfish play.   Troy had 13 rebounds in the first half.  He went for several minutes in the second half where he was not even near a rebound.  Then all of a sudden he picks up 6 more rebounds.

Would you be satisfied if, for the next 3 to 4 years, IU football was able to maintain records in the 6 - 6 and 7 - 5 range.   Coming from where we have been in the past 10 years, is it progress to get to a level where we are at or above 500 on a regular basis, without having a breakout year?

Laughed at the Don Noort reference.   Not many IU fans know who he is or the role he played getting IU to RMK's first final four.

During one of CKW's first couple of years we were penalized when we had 2 players with the same number on the kickoff team.   Not sure how that happens, but it was quickly remedied with a number change for the offensive player with the identical number.

MPaige is functional at his WR position. Seems like he has good chemistry with Sudfeld. I recall him having trouble getting separation from better defenders last year.   I don't like him running 20-25 yards to field a punt. Huge risk for fumbles.    However, he is a hard nosed kid, evidenced by his nice punt return manufactured from almost no blocking. 

Less than 50 hours to game time for the SIU opener.   What are you hoping to see from the offense that might signal the kind of improvement we expect this season?   Knowing that we should be able to handle an FBS opponent, beside winning handily, what would you consider offensive success?   Points Running Yardage Passing completion percent Keeping Nate clean See production from the receivers   For me, there are two indicators I am looking for:     1. We have to keep Nate from getting hit (and our protection should be able to do that)     2. We need to see production from our received from the start.    

At the end of the 87 season, the Hoosiers played in the Peach Bowl in Atlanta. Our opponent was Tennessee. The atmosphere and the game was outstanding. Despite being outnumbered by fans in orange by a 4 to 1 or 5 to 1 margin, Hoosier fans were into the game. It was exciting and was decided by Tennessee's last possession.    Tim Jorden scored a TD for IU on a fake field goal to take a 22 - 21 lead with about 4 minutes remaining. Reggie Cobb scored the game winner with less than 2 minutes to go.   Despite being overwhelmed by hearing Rocky Top way too many times that day, the 5K or 6K Hoosier fans that were there that day went away proud of the Hoosiers.
