Also, did anyone else read the GQ article about Jay Wright? Two things that stood out to me: 1. How far away Tom Crean is from ever being featured in a men's fashion magazine. 2. Jay Wright has a motto of "Players play for their teammates and coaches; Actors play for the crowd". I agree and can't help but wonder why IU only plays for the crowd. I wish Thomas Bryant would read that line.

I heard this on the radio the other day. UCLA reached out to hire Branch McCracken twice, and twice he turned down the job. Ultimately they hired John Wooden. IU reached out to hire Bobby Slick Leonard twice, and twice he turned down the job. IU then hired Bob Knight. And if the rumors are true, IU has reached out to Stevens twice now. Let's hope the man we hire is a home run!

True. I guess to a larger point I'm trying to make is that if the next coach at IU can schedule a legit non-con, restart the UK rivalry, recruit Indiana, and play defense, limit turnovers and play fundamental basketball, then that new coach is a home run hire IMO. Issues seem easy to fix, and if so, I don't think I'll be disappointed season after season.

I'm with you. IMO I've only been happy with 1 season out of 9 for Crean, and that was 2011-2012, his first year with Zeller. Every other year was a disappointment IMO. I don't think he ever exceeded expectations. For last year I believe he achieved expectations, but I was still disappointed in him because Crean scheduled such a weak non-con, pus was unable to reschedule a game against UK, which forced us into a terrible seed in the tourney. I firmly believe had we scheduled better as played UK, we would have been in a different bracket and possibly made it to the elite 8. Overall though, 1 out of 9 years where he achieved expectations and never went beyond is such a disappointment for me.

What did happen that caused all of that to go away? Surely it wasn't made up out of thin air, right?

I don't know if I'm alone in this, but I hate the 5 stars on the back of our shorts. I see it as Crean once again saying "look how much we've won", just like him hanging a B10 banner and talking about how much he's achieved. Without actually achieving success himself.

I think at his next job, once he no longer has assembly hall or top talent to mask his deficiencies, he will drop way down the ladder. Maybe not even a top 75 coach in the country.

I was talking with a coworker today and he brought up a good question: When did you know Tom Crean wasn't the right fit for IU? He responded that he knew he was not the right coach in Creans third year, when he was at a game and Crean made a bizarre substitution, he and his friend looked at each other and said "oh gosh we made a mistake", then saying at least Mike David knew who his 5 best players were. I responded that I felt Crean was the wrong fit, not when IU got embarrassed in the S16, but the following year. Crean should have been so mad about the S16 loss that he spent the entire offseason drooling over it and finding ways to beat the **** out of Syracuse the next time they play, instead we played Syracuse in the ACC challenge and got embarrassed again. When did you know he was the wrong fit?

Pay Brad Stevens $100 million over 10 years.

Because he spoke at a boys&girls club banquet in Indy and spoke a bunch on how much he missed the comradery of the college game. Then on DP he said they he didn't not like recruiting at the college level. Plus he went to 2 national championship games and lost... How could anyone be fine with not attempting to win that championship ever again?

I'm not saying that he flat out lied. I'm just saying literally what else could he possibly say?

Of course Stevens is going to say "no". We currently have a head coach. He's smart enough to know that if he says yes, 1. It would be leaked immediately and IU fans would have a field day and 2. He also knows that we currently have a coach, and by saying "yes" we'd fire Crean instantly. I think it amounts to what his goal in life is. Is it to win an NBA championship? Or is it to coach at IU and win a championship here? No one will ever know unless we actually fire Crean first.

This X1,000,000... Even if it was planned, the coach should have canceled the event. Or he should have been competent enough to beat OSU at HOME.

Not a chance he would allow Crean to continue to coach.... Unless he started to embrace tanking.

Wasn't he hired by a panel of people who know nothing about basketball, instead of being hired by an AD?
