Yup. And the thing with Ballo, showing my age here, he reminds me of having Dale Davis. Not for his game, but for the fact that he’s the biggest bada$$ on the floor and nobody wants any part of that guy. That’s a really underrated trait. A Coleman Hawkins-type kid is not woofing at Ballo.

He's just a sophomore and this was his first season starting. I think based on the improvement he made last offseason, you can assume a similar amount of progress heading into his junior year. I agree that passing out of the post/having better awareness in general is something he will need to be working on. That said, I'm not concerned that he will get there... sometimes we talk about wanting 4 year players, but are quick to call them a problem if they're not a totally well rounded player after 2 seasons. 
I don't see how you can view Reneau as anything other than a huge net positive considering he is maybe elite at his primary skillset (post scoring) and still has potential in other important areas. Far from a perfect player, got a long way to go... hate watching him muscle it up in the trees and force shots instead of passing out... but still recognize/appreciate how valuable he is, especially to our program right now. 

Give him $5 million for all I care. It’s not my money. And if the boosters say IU won’t get outbid for a player, then pay the $700k. How much a player makes means absolutely nothing to me. I get a kick out of ppl getting up in arms about a player making good money. It’s capitalism folks, I hope you all are making as much as you possibly can too. 
 
Also the issue with the lineup is Reneau and has been. It’s why I wasn’t going to be upset if he transferred out.  Having him means there isn’t going to be a massive shift in offensive philosophy. As he can’t play center but we need someone to play that role. So why not get the best center that you can? It’s chump change to the boosters anyway.

This will probably not be well-received... but in my mind, we have two options:
1) mid-major coach with proven success / resume (May, Schertz, etc)
2) high-major coach who doesn't have the proven success / resume, but has the traits and qualities which would lead us to believe he could and would succeed here (Shrews, etc)
Option 3 of a P5 coach with proven success will never exist unless it's a very rare circumstance. Even then, I'd bet against it. The way SEC / football schools have started investing in basketball (with facilities, NIL resources, huge salary pool for HC & assistants, etc) over the last decade or so (while still having limited fanbase pressure) makes our job more and more ordinary.
You don't have to love May, Schertz, or Shrewsberry. They all come with risk. But if we're gonna sit around waiting for the perfect candidate, we're gonna be stuck in neutral for a long time.

7 different coaches have made the final four the past two years. None of them were at a power conference job before their current position. Not all mid majors are Archie. We just have to find the right one.

We had three 5-star recruits and more recruiting “stars” than any other Big Ten team. I am so f***ing sick of this guy.

To be clear, Liam decommitting was about 500 pages in. We are back to a 1 person class. It is good news, it does not make Woody a good college basketball coach.

Not really. People can recognize a good addition to the team (we have about 6-7 more spots to fill btw) and still not be convinced this is "proof" of some master plan and that everything is hunky dory. Coming into this thread with this take is just funny. Want a cookie?

Why can’t you add Perkins and a shooter? And another shooter after that? There’s 7, possibly 8 open scholarships that need filled. IU needs a PG. Perkins was 2nd team All-B10 last year. What are we even doing?

After watching that, I definitely want him here in Indiana!

I do think the fit for Perkins is better if we go Mgabko 4 and Reneau 5. You protect a non shot blocking center with guards and wings who can keep their man out of the lane. And having a plus shooter at the 4 helps offset Perkins' relative lack of shooting.
If you start Perkins and Galloway together, the 3 and 4 absolutely have to be plus shooters. And even then, spacing will still probably be an issue.

Perkins was second team All-B1G correct? Not sure you can pass on that in the position IU is in 

I don’t understand this take at all. A two-way guard who can score with major experience in this conference. Again, these guys don’t grow on trees.

Sounds like we’re getting Tucker, and we’re in good position $ for either Perkins or Mack.

I’m torn because I’d surely love it if Woodson was able to bring in a stellar group for next year…I just really don’t want him to be the one here to coach them. I’ve had it with his shenanigans of acting like he’s superior to everything/everyone. I’d feel so much better if we 100% knew for sure that no matter how we did next year, he was just gonna be done and will be trying to go out on a high note with this upcoming season. Would make it so much more enjoyable to root for success (not that I would root for us to lose) rather than be worried that he meets whatever subpar standards there are that make him stick around to continue to underperform. 

I'm pretty sure every single one of those non-lane 2s were from Jizzle James. Dude was pulling up from everywhere.
