BottomLine got a reaction from hoosierbannerd in Mike Woodson to be next IUBB coach. Thad Matta to be associate AD
Indiana has just hired the most experienced coach in program history.
    1. Started at IU for 4 years
    2. 2000+ career scorer
    3. All American
    4. 11 year NBA player and 10,000+ scorer
    5.  14 year NBA coach - head coach of 2 teams
    6.  From Indiana and member of Indiana basketball hall of fame.
So he lacks college experience but he has been successful at everything he has done in the past.  If he hadn't have been successful his career as a player and coach would have been very brief.  To have a 25 year professional career means that he has been able to develop relationships and is respected.
Wonder if the others that might have been suggested for the IU job could have matched the success that Woodson has had.  The next level up from college is littered with "great" players and coaches the washed out very quickly.
Mike Woodson has earned a chance to turn the IU program around and those that can't see that are idiots.  NOBODY can see the future

Sure.  He could have handled it the way Beard did.  He could have handled it the way Nick Saban did (which is closer to what he actually did).  At the end of the day, he's Brad Stevens, and he handled it the way Brad Stevens did.  Not everybody's the same.  Not everybody handles things the same way you would.  Not everybody has the same motivations you would.  So while I think landing Stevens is a long shot, what he says to the media is not a definitive answer until Indiana hires a coach and it's not him.

Flash!  This just in!  Hold the presses!  My wife just got back from the hairdressers and she was talking to another lady whose husband is the coach of a 12u girls basketball team.  According to this guy, a friend of his is second cousin to a prospect from northern Indiana that may or may not be a future Indiana recruit, depending on the new hire.  The prospective recruit's father is the brother of a bartender in Indianapolis.  It seems the bartender saw a group of coaches drawing straws in the back of the bar to see who the next IU coach would be and one of the guys won.  Since the bartender isn't a sports fan, he didn't know the identity of the coaches but he did say that he was male and sorta short but kinda tall too.  One of the customers at the bar did know the identity of the winner but since he was wearing a Purdue sweatshirt he didn't care because he was more interested in ordering a boilermaker.  There you go!  Inside information!  We have a new coach and it will be announced sometime in the future.

So why is this even a topic?  School coaches have degrees.  School coaches teach a few classes.  Whether anyone agrees or disagrees with this, it has no impact on the search for a new coach at IU.  That is just the way it is, but it has no impact on what is going on in Bloomington.  So let's just move on.  We are arguing over nothing.

Yeah, requiring someone to go through a discipline where they increase their personal knowledge is beyond stupid.
What is stupid is arguing about this. I am done... we just have to agree to disagree...
