6'4" Guard Nick Zeisloft joins Hoosiers
If a kid won't come to IU because of what people say on a message board then good riddance. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
But if you have a kid debating between us and Duke or Kansas, and all he sees is how supportive those schools are of the players and sees how pessimistic some of our posters are towards the Crean program, those schools get more brownie points. you'd be crazy to pretend that sort of thing doesn't play a role in the recruitment.
How could I possibly think a player that wasn't good against bad competition will be bad against good competition? That's unfathomable.
You ever think that possibly recruits see the type of negativity and pessimism that is present in team message boards? It's stuff like this, which is failure to support your team and its players, even in bad times, that would drive a kid away. Who wants to have to live up to some of the expectations that some of us fans put on the poor kids? Maybe having a fanbase with this type of attitude can cause the players to lose interest or transfer from the program. How can you expect players to perform if we don't even have faith in them or in our coach. BtownBanners

2014 Indiana High School Jr/Sr All Star Game

I think everyone should get familiar with the name "Jordan Geist." He's in my class at my high school and the kid is an unrelenting defender, ridiculous athlete, and dependable scorer (as evidenced by his 17 and 19 points in the Jr. Games). He's not been recruited heavily at all, but I expect that to change after this weekend. BtownBanners
  4. There's definitely something fishy going, seeing as how both California and Wisconsin have awful rates. Since this is a Stanford "study," there is probably some exaggeratedly inaccurate rates here. Think about it. Cal and Wisky are good schools, but Cal is Stanford's rival and Wisconsin is frequently Stanford's rose bowl opponent. I think these are fake because there is no way Cal and Wisconsin are realistically that low. BtownBanners

    C'mon Man!

Please tell me he was doing that to be funny as some sort of prank or something. Dice spin? My lord. Poor kid. BtownBanners

Who would you hire to replace CTC?

What about Archie Miller from Dayton? BtownBanners

    Big Men

The only reason Jurkin is at IU still is because he was the first member of the "movement" to commit, and after securing commitments from the other guys of that class, CTC didn't want to remove the poor guy's scholarship and leave him out in the cold just because he committed soon. BtownBanners

Who would you hire to replace CTC?

Dream coach would be Brad Stevens but that's not gonna happen. I feel like Shaka Smart may be looking to leave VCU within the next one to two years, around the same time limit we are giving Crean if he doesn't pull his crap together. Kevin Ollie would be a great one too, but Uconn is a pretty prestigious school and I don't think he'd leave them for a while. Honestly I would love to have John Beilien as coach. I don't know that he'd leave UM for IU though. BtownBanners

Tired of the fire CTC threads
When the team underperforms, you can expect negativity and as you said, "this is a place for expressing opinions". If you don't like some of those opinions don't read threads that express the opinions that make you unhappy. Until then expect people to voice their displeasure on boards devoted to expressing opinions, otherwise get used to differing points of view.
I don't mind reading the stuff, I'm just disturbed by how un-trusting you all are of Crean, especially after people loved him up until the Cuse game. Maybe I should have titled the thing "Disturbed by the fire CTC talk" instead of "tired of..." BtownBanners

Tired of the fire CTC threads
I've already expressed my thoughts numerous times, and most of my concerns are not based on this one WTF year. And, no, there is no way this season can be considered 'mediocre'. It was a disaster, an unmitigated failure, a dumpster fire.
Compared to what we had 3+ years ago I'd say this season was mediocre. You can hardly expect a successful season after losing that much production and relying on one returning starter, one true big man, no outside shooting, a bunch of freshmen, and the only other player with real experience being an under-recruited swing man that came off the bench his entire career. If JH had stepped up, we could have won 2-3 more games, but really that is the only huge disappointment of the season. BtownBanners
  11. I know this is a place for expressing opinions but it really irks me that everyone is so quick to jump on the "fire Tom Crean" bandwagon. The man brought us up from some of the darkest hours in program history and had two successful, fun-to-watch teams in back-to-back years. His players are, for the most part, extremely solid academic performers, they seemingly have good team values, and they don't run their mouths about anyone or anything, they mostly let their playing do the talking. And now, one year after losing 5 of the top 7 players from a year before that earned an outright B10 title and a #1 tourney seed, you guys are calling for his head. Yes, he certainly is not the best in-game coach, but he recruits great young men and sincerely wishes the best for them, both during their time at indiana and after. We were expected to suffer a lot from our losses last year, and clearly we did, but even then we STILL had a slight possibility of making the tourney going into our last game against Nebraska, and that is quite remarkable. That appearance was not conceived, but the season still saw us produce another NBA lottery pick, several academic all-B10s, great games against Michigan and Wisconsin (finally) and witness a great season from yogi and the development and emergence of some younger players. This was a young team that will still be very young next year, and we truly owe it to Crean not to give up on him after just one mediocre year. Give him at least one more year before even thinking about whether or not he is on the hot seat, because he has done more for this university than 95% of coaches do for theirs. BtownBanners

    tatted up Hoosiers
it only scares the closed minded people, I'm a chef, professional competition bbq pitmaster, and caterer, I have no problem getting clients. As a matter of fact 98% of the people that hire me are more curious about the tattoos than anything. You're definitely entitled to your opinion, but if your opinion of a person is able to be based on ink inside their skin, then you've had a very sheltered life. If ya think about it, that's no different from racism, could you be scared of somebody just because the color of their skin is different?

    tatted up Hoosiers

It was a stereotype that many people shared when I lived in Ohio. That doesn't mean it's a true stereotype at all. In my opinion I think it's silly to look like Chris Anderson because it truly can scare people away and definitely limits your job opportunities. BtownBanners

I apologize, considering this is an off topic thread. It's just that the majority of people I see with tattoos should be spending their money on other things. I don't have a problem with what people do to their own bodies, but I have observed that many people that have visible tattoos complain of not having any money, therefore I see it as a silly thing to waste money on in most cases.
