GAME THREAD: 10/26 3:30PM ET Indiana at Nebraska BTN

Allen mentioned today that Penix has practiced some this week but is still questionable for Saturday.
  2. After dominating Rutgers last week, we head on the road to take on a Maryland team that looked like a top-10 team to start the season but has since cooled off. Maryland has struggled in recent weeks but still has plenty of talent to knock off anyone on any given Saturday. With dual-threat QB Tyrell Pigrome likely starting and their group of talented runningbacks, our defense will have to make sure we tackle and don't burned on the ground. Maryland does have the worst passing defense in the conference and was exposed by Purdue last week so they will have their hands full trying to slow down Penix and our talented receivers. Must remember that we are going on the road and life on the road in the Big Ten is never easy. We are currently a 5.5 point favorite and ESPN's Football Power Index gives us a 50.3% of winning on Saturday. Bill Connelly's SP+ metrics give us a 64% chance of winning. In terms of overall SP+ rankings: Maryland (3-3): Overall: 43 Offense: 56 Defense: 44 Special Teams: 125 Indiana (4-2): Overall: 25 Offense: 23 Defense: 32 Special Teams: 14

Starting cornerback Tino Ellis is also out for the year with an upper body injury.
  5. After having our first bye week and some time to reflect on the mistakes made against MSU, the Hoosiers are back in Memorial Stadium this Saturday to take on the Scarlet Knights. Rutgers comes to Bloomington two weeks after firing their coach Chris Ash and having multiple players voluntarily redshirting. Among those players choosing to redshirt are, starting QB Artur Sitkowksi, leading receiver Raheem Blackshear, and TE Kyle Penniston. This is a chance to get our first conference win and to start building momentum towards the following three games which are all winnable (@Maryland, @Nebraska, vs Northwestern). There is currently no line on this game and ESPN's Football Power Index gives us a 95% of winning on Saturday. In terms of SP+ rankings: Rutgers (1-4): Overall: 98 Offense: 106 Defense: 70 Special Teams: 60 Indiana (3-2): Overall: 28 Offense: 27 Defense: 39 Special Teams: 21
  6. After blowing out UConn at home last week, the Hoosiers head to East Lansing for their first true road game of the season. We have struggled to get our run game going and we may continue to see those struggles this weekend as MSU boasts one of the best defenses in the country. Added to that, we lost Coy Cronk for the rest of the season, so the OL will be without one of its most experienced leaders. Penix Jr. could return for this game depending on how he feels after returning to practice this week; at the moment coaches are calling it a game-time decision. MSU opened as a 14-pt favorite and ESPN's Football Power Index gives them an 85.6.3% chance of winning on Saturday. In terms of SP+ rankings: Michigan State (3-1): Overall: 20 Offense: 87 Defense: 1 Special Teams: 84 Indiana (3-1): Overall: 32 Offense: 45 Defense: 36 Special Teams: 25

Fire or ‘Way to Go!’ Tom Allen?

So what do you propose we do? Let's hear it...and then get rid of that guy as soon as he has a bad game. Sent from my GM1917 using Tapatalk

Fire or ‘Way to Go!’ Tom Allen?

Fire Tom Allen?? What? He hasn't even been here for 3 full seasons and we're talking about firing him? And get who exactly? We are favored by SP+ in the next 4 games...can we let this season play out before we can talk about getting a new coach? Sent from my GM1917 using Tapatalk

  11. After last week's lackluster performance, we welcome UConn to Memorial stadium in what should be an easy opportunity to bounce back into the win column. Penix is unlikely to play but the coaches have yet to rule him out for this game. Even without Penix, IU is still a 27 point favorite (UConn is bad). ESPN's Football Power Index gives the Hoosiers a 96.3% chance of winning on Saturday. In terms of SP+ rankings: UConn (1-1): Overall: 124 Offense: 130 Defense: 90 Special Teams: 76 Indiana (2-1): Overall: 48 Offense: 61 Defense: 50 Special Teams: 28

Still hard to gauge this team. We have blown out some cupcake teams and were blown out by a top-5 team. Have also seen different quarterbacks at different times. Either way, we finished 3-0 against non-conference and need 3 more for bowl eligibility. Rutgers and Northwestern look to be our best chances remaining at wins. Maryland, Purdue, and Nebraska could be toss ups. Michigan St., Michigan, and Penn State are likely losses. Still have faith we can get to 6 wins and would see that as successful season! 14. After last Saturday's shutout win against Eastern Illinois, the Hoosiers will have much much tougher test as we begin conference play in Bloomington against the No. 6 Buckeyes. As coach Allen mentioned, they are the typical Ohio State with playmakers all over the field. The Hoosiers have been competitive against the Buckeyes in recent years but have been unable to get over the hump (maybe this is the year we finally do it?). Ohio State opened as a 14-pt favorite, which is the lowest spread in quite some time. Gus Johnson and Joel Klatt have the call from Memorial Stadium on Saturday. ESPN's Football Power Index gives us a 22% chance of upsetting the Buckeyes. For those that follow/enjoy SP+ rankings: Ohio State (2-0): Overall: 5 Offense: 14 Defense: 11 Special Teams: 23 Indiana (2-0): Overall: 40 Offense: 57 Defense: 44 Special Teams: 1 Let's Go Hoosiers!!

  17. Okay we lost...so what? It was against a team that is a title contender...let's get Penix healthy and let's win next week. The goal this season was to make a bowl game and we're still on schedule. Sent from my GM1917 using Tapatalk
