For the life of me I do not understand why a network would want Bill Walton as a color commentator. Good grief he was awful in every aspect including college basketball knowledge. Example: 8 second call......or wait it's 10 in college.....is that all of college? Summarizing but pretty damn close to what he said

Couple of reports from today's action in Indpls. from Alec Lasley.
Just got done watching Indiana Elite's second game. Terrific second half for Trey Kaufman who finished with 23 points (8-of-15) in a 85-71 win. Noticeably bigger/stronger/quicker. Showed a variety of moves on extended post up opportunities.
2021 IU commit Logan Duncomb, too, put on some nice muscle. Looks more athletic as he continues to grow into his body. Great footwork + great job getting early post position multiple times.

Glass Announces New Cross Country Course Named The Sam Bell Cross Country Course After Legendary Coach
Indiana University Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Fred Glass announced today that IU's newly-constructed championship cross country course has been named the Sam Bell Cross Country Course, in honor of Indiana University's late Hall of Fame Cross Country and Track and Field coach.

Glass also announced that a formal dedication of the new facility will be scheduled later this year consistent with COVID-19 developments.

"Sam was a legend in his profession and an extraordinary teacher and mentor to hundreds of students and colleagues during his 29 years at Indiana University," said IU Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Fred Glass. "His impact on his students extended well beyond their time in Bloomington, and his impact on Indiana University extended well beyond his coaching tenure. He is very deserving of this recognition and honor."

The Sam Bell Cross Country Course is a stand alone, dedicated cross country facility that encompasses 40 acres and is located in close proximity to the former IU Cross Course, just east of the 45/46 bypass. Bloomington-based Bledsoe Riggert Cooper James completed the design and engineering of the project, consistent with input from the IU Track and Field and Cross Country staff. The project cost approximately $540,000.

The new course occupies a portion of the former course's land while also extending to the northeast of the former location. Like its predecessor, the Sam Bell Cross Country Course is one of the nation's premiere cross country layouts that is worthy of hosting Big Ten, regional and national championship events. Among its features are 3K, 2K and 1K loops that can be configured to host races of all standard cross country distances, and it was designed to create great viewing options for spectators.

Bell enjoyed extraordinary success during his nearly three decades (1970-98) as IU's Track and Field and Cross Country coach. A six-time Big Ten Coach of the Year, Bell guided his teams to 26 Big Ten team championships (13 indoor track and field, eight outdoor track and field, five cross country), the most of any coach in IU Athletics history. Individually, his student-athletes won 20 NCAA championships, including four in cross country (Kim Betz, Michelle Dekkers and Bob Kennedy twice). They also captured 242 Big Ten individual titles, earned 147 All-America honors, and 10 competed in the Olympics.  Before arriving at IU, he coached the Oregon State Men's Cross Country team to the 1961 NCAA Championship.

Bell's influence, meanwhile, extended well beyond Bloomington. He served as the U.S. Olympic Men's Distance Coach in 1976, and was inducted into both the U.S. Track Coaches and National Track and Field Halls of Fame before his passing in 2016 at the age 0f 88.

"The Indiana University cross country program has been synonymous with success on the Big Ten and NCAA levels," said Indiana University Deputy Director of Athletics Scott Dolson. "I am excited not only to see Sam honored in this way, but also for what the completion of the Sam Bell Cross Country Course means for our current students. They now have an exceptional course to compete and train on, one that also now honors the rich tradition of our program."

IU-commit Khristian Lander says if he stays on track, he could be done with his high school requirements by the end of May, and there's a possibility he could be a June arrival. Expect him in 2020. Will play AAU this spring and if Indy Heat advances to Peach Jam.

Man, Michigan drops to 2-5 in conference. I was a little surprised their stadium looked pretty cleared out with 3 mins to play and them down 8. Those fans obviously have a short fuse. Maybe it’s a football school thing.

So we are not pursuing him hard enough because we sent our assistant coach and not our head coach like the other schools?  Do you some of you just wake up, jot down all the things you need to complain about for the day, eat breakfast, and start the complaints.  I'm surprised we even sent an assistant.  For crying out loud, we are playing AT Rutgers today.  It's not like IU never recruits the kid...they probably can only do it when it works with their current season schedule as it should be.  The other schools in attendance are not scheduled to play today.
If Archie would have been at Furst's game and we lose tonight..."Well he needs to worry about his own team instead of out recruiting HS kids!!!"
Some of our fan base is absolutely intolerable.

Armaan Franklin had 1 foul but only played 14 minutes. I find that to be an issue. I think it’s time to tell Green or Durham to come off the bench. Franklin should be the starting 2 guard for the remainder of the season. He’s proven to be more consistent than Green, Al and Rob all year long.

I didn’t miss the point. I said it was wrong.

Some teams play hard nosed basketball and sometimes have to win ugly. That’s not us by a long.

We play bad basketball and when we win it  is ugly by default. Because that’s simply how we play. Us being ugly isn’t an exception. It’s an every game occurrence. Some are wins and some are losses  unfortunately under Archie and Crean before him. The losses are too common.

It’s not about the decisions, it’s about rust and health. When you haven’t practiced in a month, missed the scrimmage, missed both exhibitions, and the first game or two you’re going to be really rusty.
That rust is going to impact things such as timing, speed of the game, etc. Passes you think should be there, you might have the timing off on. This happens all of the time when people miss considerable time.
What seems more likely? Phinisee was rusty from missing a month+, or Phinisee randomly, despite working hard all summer, just out of the blue got worse?

IU is missing a healthy Phinisee a ton. The keyword is healthy. He wasn’t fully healthy even when he was playing. He missed almost all of October practices. You don’t just walk on the court after missing a month of practice and look 100%.

Imo we will go into next season mid B1G projections. 6-8 range.

Ohio State, Michigan State, Illinois, Michigan will be ahead of us in projections.

Mack’s Louisville team trailing by 3 to USC Upstate with 14 min to go work for you or is that one stupid also? Florida’s mike white in his 5th year tied with Towson at half and only beating them by 6 count or is that a dumb comparison?
