Feathery reacted to Josh in Post Game Discussion: Indiana - 68 vs Seton Hall - 84
This blowout loss is much different from the first blowout loss of the year. The first one was horrendous. Nothing worked as we didn't even look competitive on our own court.
This one doesn't hurt as bad. It was on the road and we showed tenacity. This time the talent excuse works.
We've showed continued progress. That's all I ask out of my golf game, that's all I'd ask out of our team.

Those 2 careless passes in back to back possessions and the Rojo miss dribble was the stretch that really ended the game.

Music to my ears. Fantastic to hear we have a coach that understands this and isn't going to focus on stupid stuff like deflections.

+5 in 31 minutes and we lose by 16. Yikes.

I don’t think you’re cynical, and that’s what we have. A true rebuild. I do think this one might be for real.

No more tanking. We did our job last year with tanking by getting rid of Crean.
Now we just wait for Archie to get his players and not Tom Crean leftovers.

Losing doesn't sting as much knowing your team played hard. We we're just outmatched at every position tonight.

Enjoy the ride folks. This was all part of the tank train.

Don't compare him to those guys. Moore has huge upside and expect him to be a big factor for us next year or the year after.

This team is playing very hard. If they bring this grit night in and night out this season I'll be happy regardless of what our record is.

It's so strange to not see us run that silly three-man weave up top on 40 percent of our possessions. Strange in a good way!

This is what a less skilled team can look like when they take on the personality of their nitty gritty alpha dog coach. They compete!

Went into this game expecting a loss. I'm seeing improvement. Intensity is there. I'm enjoying watching actually. The charge call was total bs.

Didn't even realize that Rojo got to 1000 points since there was no timeout called to parade him around..

I'm not happy with the officiating. I am happy to have a coach that actually watches the game vs a cardio step workout.

Haven’t watched Scruggs play, but I do like what Al has shown so far. I would start him until someone with more talent shows enough heart to take his spot.

I don't think Garland was ever going to happen. Phinisee is where we went and probably had a great feel for how DG was going to end at the time.
Romeo is a different story. We still have a great chance, imo.
Why else are we saving that final scholarship??? Wink wink

Fans losing their minds over recruits doesn't help anything and nothing anyone says here can have any positive effect. We all hope Langford chooses Indiana. If he does; wonderful. But I do hope some folks realize their obsessions and negativity can be harmful. Recruiting is a huge issue and I completely get it. But damn....some of the panic I see around the various forums is downright scary.

Feathery got a reaction from cthomas in Expectations of the New Era
My expectations for year 1 is different than for the era. For this year it is to set the foundation. That goes from recruiting, style of play, and culture. I think the recruiting has set a solid base for the program moving forward. It’s been two games and I already like the half court offense better than I have since Knight. On defense there seems to be a plan but the team isn’t there yet. Which leaves the culture of the team. I heard Don Fisher say today that Archie is trying not to go crazy with the lack of pride shown by the players. Also said some players might be sent to the end of the bench and stay there. We will likely see a steady dose of the freshmen. To be honest, I’m all for it. You have to set the tone for what the culture of the program is going to be, and set that tone early. I don’t care about wins and losses in year 1, get the foundation of the program correct and build from there.
Moving forward, big picture view, I expect IU to be on par with the elite programs in the country. We also need to regain our seat as the top team in our own conference. This is year 3-4 at the earliest.
A rebuild is over when we make the dance, have class balance, and are set up to be consistently good. I think that starts next year at the earliest. We make the dance and add a quality, top 10 type class.

Al Durham is a guy who WANTS to play at Indiana. You could tell he was looking to make the most of his minutes when he came in Sunday. I absolutely love that. He's one who will play with pride. Not everyone is doing that yet.... And it's making me insane.
