Maybe he is having second thoughts bc he wants to come to IU instead. Lol
  3. Woodson better be watching UConn and taking notes on how to build a championship team.

UConn is taller and longer. Also quick enough that they are recovering before Purdue can get the shot off. UConn is just superior.

Same issue tonight that has beaten PU in the past, going back to the baby boilers, backcourt and overall team athleticism is lacking against the elite teams. Just a notch below. Guards can’t get open bc UConn is superior athletes. Edey is now gassed. Game is over imo.

Yeah Edey will be gassed by 7 min to go.

I didn’t either. Goodman did say he was told the buyout is only estimated at $4.5 mil. So it’s financially doable. But to your point about being religious at a Christian university is a good fit. With Oats staying out I think UK will end up with Pearl or Wade. Maybe beard but the baggage is too much imo.

They don’t need to change much at all. Purdue isn’t shooting 3’s bc UConn is taking it away. They will win with that strategy imo.

Listened to the Goodman podcast today. Evidently Drew’s daughter is a sophomore at Baylor and his other kids are younger. I don’t think he leaves Baylor while his daughter is there.

lol. Thats their plan. I think they need more than $6 mil though. You know UK and Arkansas will be splashing the cash now they got new coaches. So will the other usual powers. Need maybe $8 mil to have a top 10 roster. I don’t want a tournament team. I want a final four contender.

Well they are right, IU does suck.

Meh. I want Purdue to win. May it light a fire at IU. When Michigan won the national title, OSU went and won the offseason with $12 mil plus NIL rebuilding their football team.

Wonder what IU’s record was when Johnny Marlin played in Zellers last year. Lol

I do think Rabby has a conflict of interest. A lot of his business is predicated on covering recruiting. Hard to do his job when the HC isn’t doing his and out recruiting high schoolers. Now do I think Rabby fabricated everything and fed Trilly bad info out of spite? No I don’t. I think as always recruiting is going to be fluid, even with your current roster. Leal and Galloway could have indicated they were leaving. boosters stepped up and increased their pay so they decided to stay. Doesn’t make NGW correct or Rabby wrong. Circumstances changed so the outcome changed.
  15. You realize it goes back to him playing golf instead of recruiting during the last 3 years? So when ppl see him golfing on social media and we don’t have a roster, coming off a bad year, he will get burned by the fans. If he can’t handle the heat he can exit anytime he wants. Saying that I hope he is successful next year but his lack of understanding how to build a college roster over the last 3 years has me doubting. But if he succeeds, then IU succeeds. So Im pulling for him.
  16. Great. Never said you did or do. Just always question new posters when they start posting and want to curb certain board behaviors. Especially in a time where the coaches seat is scorching hot with the fanbase. We all know the athletic department watches the boards and many there are IU alumns with nothing to hide either. keep up your good fight but nothing will improve until Woodson is gone or wins the conference/goes to final four.
  17. Also a newer acct. could be another burner.

There is more to life than being right. The condescension and arrogance is enough for me to not want him around even if he is right 100% of the time. So if he is a mouth piece for someone on staff, then that staff member needs to find better friends.

I don’t value the NCAA tournament as high as regular season success. Love the tournament but it’s a crap shoot. Regular season success is more indicative of quality coaching to me. Plus regular season success should set you up for more chances at deep runs. Hell it took Painter like 20 years, but he was an undeniable quality coach.

Curious why over Wade? He is someone I’d take at IU in a heart beat. None of the paying players is an issue anymore. And I get the jab at Cal for not winning games but everyone witnessed them. It’s just another toothless NCAA “penalty”. Just like the Fab 5 didn’t happen? Yes it did I witnessed it live and watched the documentary on it. lol. The revisionist stripping of titles for rules that have since been deemed illegal by the US Supreme Court is silly. The disdain should be placed on the NCAA not on the coaches who actually were in the right per the US Supreme Court ruling.

Growing up in the SF Bay Area pre salary cap in the NFL, I knew the owner of the 49ers lost money every time they won a Super Bowl bc of the bonuses paid to the team. Ultimately it’s not my money. So I really don’t care. The Pacers are a mediocre franchise bc the owners won’t spend to win it all. My Warriors drafted Steph when other teams saw better value before him, lol. Then the owners spent a lot of money and are always over the cap and pay a tax to the owners who don’t spend. The results are championships. My SF GIANTS soent over the cap but we’re smart about it and invested heavily in pitching over a decade ago and won several World Series bc of it. So no salary caps mean very little to me and how much a player makes means nothing to me. I just want my teams to win. Michigan is the football program I’ve followed since I was 3 years old. NIL allowed them to pay 30 players above the scholarship limit to cover tuition to have more players than what scholarship limits allow (per Sam Webb 24/7 and WTKA radio host) Also growing up in the Bay Area exposed me to Billy Bean and the Oakland A’s doing the money ball thing. But again they didn’t win it all and it’s not my money so what do I care. Teams are allowed to spend what they want. The more you spend the more I think an ownership group wants to win. The White Sox could pay for Ohtani if ownership wanted to spend it. But they didn’t. MLB isn’t a hard cap. See the Dodgers and Yankees etc pending well over the “cap”.

NBA is a soft cap. Owners can choose to just pay a tax and spend as much as they want. MLB teams blow past the salary cap all the time without blinking. Then draft value is a funny thing. Hindsight of course but players are deemed to be good value as first round picks when other players drafted several rounds lower are better pros. So they really aren’t better value and wasted money and picks. Down to poor scouting or terrible group think on players.

Do you talk about nba and mlb player contracts too? When I talk sports I don’t think I’ve ever said don’t get a player bc they cost too much money. Or this player is only coming bc of the money. Kudos to any player getting paid. This is America, let capitalism reign as far as I’m concerned.

You’re moving the goalposts. But I’ll play. How many pros has Painter developed over the last 3 seasons? Since you look at class strength by drafts and mock drafts. UConn has what 3 pros over the last couple years. Hmmmm. Seems like Woodson and IU are putting as many guaranteed contracts in the league over the last couple years as UConn and more than Purdue. So does that mean Purdue doesn’t develop players? By the way if hope all college programs are developing players. I don’t believe any of the players you just listed would have been better at either of those schools bc they wouldn’t have played much, if at all. Playing makes a player better so imo Cupps developed more at IU. Bates put up numbers on a terrible team. Banks is an athlete but isn’t Big Ten caliber imo. Speaking of playing MM played a lot and struggled and developed a ton over the season. So no he wouldn’t have developed more at either of those programs. I still think Cupps will be a player. To me his biggest issue is lack of strength. Should see some improvement this coming year but probably won’t be a threat to be a Power 5 starting PG until he is an upper class men.

Simply not true. You don’t think Mgbako developed over the year? TJD didn’t develop? Reneau from year 1 to 2? If you said they didn’t develop then you should check your motives for why you believe what you do. I’m saying this as someone who would have been 100% behind a change for someone like Bruce Pearl.
