I’m going to try to stay positive because honestly it’s happier and healthier lol. One thing I will say about Malik is that he made a huge leap physically this offseason. Additionally he showed he has no problem shooting the three when it’s open. Maybe this summer he takes another leap and is the best big in the BIG. I don’t feel like we would be overpaying based on his trajectory if he made top tier money. As we’ve all discussed, something’s gotta give strategy wise but I would be comfortable with MM and MR being towards the top of our pay scale. They would get it elsewhere.

I would say that I agree that you need to go top to retain MR and MM.

    A couple of notes:

MR - Has the skill set and physicality to be a really effective 4.  However, the mental/IQ part of his game needs to drastically improve.  I think once he understands the game, the sky is the limit (i.e. not forcing through double teams, position passing to open shots, silly fouls, etc.)

MM - Is an extremely dangerous shooter as long as he doesn't have to create the shot. IMO, he lacks athleticism.  Things that he can work on is ballhandling (when he dribbles I cover my eyes), not creating a shot but rather create and opening (reading and playing off of screens), and ball IQ (he is a freshman and this will come).

Question:  Can our current coaching staff recognize and improve on these things?  I wish Vic would come back and be a mentor to these guys.

I certainly think he's going to transfer but I don't know why IU would be remotely interested. He was darn near unplayable for the Badgers in the past two months. He's shooting below 30% from 3 and does not appear to offer much of anything positive right now. Could a change of scenery help him? Absolutely. Do I think there will be many, many better options that would be attainable for IU? I do (but that's a hope...I hope really good players are willing to take the big NIL check and the playing time available at IU).

If Blackmon enter the portal, I would much rather have him than Essegian.

We need to find our take over guard.

Not a trio, and not classic style:  Bobbi Humphrey's Fancy Dancer is a seamless collection of seven tracks that cruise the distance across soulful fusions of funk, Latin grooves, electric jazz, and gauzy vocal choruses... quoted from All Music.  Love her flute.

Try Bill Evans Trio:     'I Fall in Love Too Easily'.

    Duke Jordan:     'Two Lovers'.

Art Blakely:    Just pick something...anything...with or without the Jazz Messengers.

    Kurt Rosenwinkel:   'You've Changed'.

    Cedar Walton:  'Blues for Myself'.

Wynton Kelly Trio:  'The Fall of Love'.

    Bill Taylor: 'Solace'.

Lestor Young, Oscar Peterson Trio:  'Stardust'.

Charlie Parker Quartet:  Anything at all...

I'm taking a quick sidebar from the inferno happening on this site.

I have really been into some really early Herbie Hancock.  I really love his "hooky" jazz style.

    This is fantastic!

If this proves to be true and a really good  young coach is looking at 1 of the worst jobs in the country, wow.

I would bounce due to the fact that I worked my A$$ off to bring in a much needed 5* wing and my head coach pissed all over it.

Yeah, I wouldn't do it for IUPUI though.
