I wonder about this excuse as well.  Especially when there's been a lot of excuses.  How many years do we have to wait until we can expect success again?
When Archie came we heard an excuse that his hands were tied due to apr and administration and he wasn't allowed to make any roster changes.  Then you realize that Gelon was dumped.  Then you realize that he could have let any of the recruits out of their loi without penalty and you wonder.  You hear that we didn't get McKinley Wright because Archie's hands were tied, but you realize they weren't.  Who knows if any of these roster changes would have mattered, but it seemed to be an excuse.
Then you hear an excuse about not being able to get transfer players and wonder about it too.
Just win man.  Just effin win.  Until you do, there will be rightful doubt.

Speaking on the grad transfer thing. If it's so hard for grad transfers to come to IU why if we had five or six of them? Also we've recruited a bunch that have went to other place. Mooney at TT, Lee and Thompson that went to OSU, Albright that went to PU, etc. It seems like we've tried and have took advantage of the grad transfer rule in the past, but now it's an issue. Did we change the rules this year?

It just makes no sense. We're probably only going to have 11 scholarship players next year. Possibly 10 depending on Hunter's health. Let's just say hunter can't go. That leaves us Rob, Green, Durham, Franklin and Anderson to cover the 1-3 spots. We still have no shooting threats at all. Unless these guys make tremendous strides we're probably going to be one of the worst 3pt shooting teams in the country again. I honestly think year 3 could be his worst year yet. Lets say we finish 17-15 next year with no postseason. Does Archie make it to year 4? Does he deserve a 4th year? Things are not moving in a positive direction right now IMO. It seems like recruiting has hit a huge wall. A lot of people are losing faith in Archie.

I wasn't trying to state it as a fact. I guess you have to put "in my opinion" in front of everything you say now so I'll try it again. In my opinion, based off what I hear from people I interact with in person and on social media a lot of them are starting to lose faith in Archie.

Lmao... the oh we didnt really want him anyway excuse. Archie is really dying on the recruiting trail. He hasn't shown he can produce NBA talent. He had a surefire top 5 pick and decided to stick him in the corner and now he's a fringe top 20 pick. He's having a horrible offseason. Let's be realistic.  Oftentimes an excuse is manufactured to fit a situation.

Im sorry I forgot to mention D'Aaron Fox, Jamal Murray, Eric Beldson, Willie Cauley Stein, DeMarcus Cousins, Kevin Knox, Julius Randle, Malik Monk, and on and on. Cal wins a lot of games, makes the tournament every year, goes to F4s, wins championships and sends players to the NBA, but hey keep pretending he does nothing for these guys and doesn't prepare them for the next level.

Interesting. Isn’t that Ed Schilling’s mantra? I’ll admit, I haven’t been overly impressed with the individual development of many of our guys, but who knows if that’s about any of IU, UK, or MSU. These families are so engrossed in basketball that it could be about something totally unrelated.

Calipari is one of if not the best coaches in terms of getting kids ready to play at the next level.  Sometimes that takes a year; sometimes it takes 2 or 3, but he's great at it. If that's solely what a player wants in a college experience; that's where he should go.   
I don't believe it's Archie Miller's job at Indiana to take kids one year at a time and get them ready to play in the NBA, which for me opens up the same question : what's best for Indiana?   As many one and done's as we can get, or very few of them?   Seth Greenberg said - and I agree - it's hard to have just a single one and done kid because his agenda is different from the rest of the team.  As much as I wanted Romeo; that made a lot of sense.
Skill development isn't generally done during the season anyway.  Kids don't develop a left hand or become much better shooters in-season.  They can improve footwork, get stronger, etc. But skill development is generally done in the off season; so who knows what Keion's tweet was about?  Romeo has a great right hand.  He has a mediocre jump shot and a weak left hand.  It would be VERY difficult to fix those problems during one season at Indiana and it would be very hard to fix those problems in one season at Kentucky or anywhere else.
Calipari gets kids ready mentally and certainly from a conditioning perspective; but like most young players, UK kids take a year or two to develop in the NBA while they work on whatever skills they need to.
Point?  If Keion's tweet was directed at Archie, I think he's off base and wrong.  If Romeo were going to be at IU for 2-3 seasons and didn't develop skills; that's a different question, but Archie, like every coach in-season is trying to win games and spending far more time with team stuff and system things than he is individual development.

He has 37 guys in the NBA since 2008; all but 5 of them 20 years of age or under.   13 top ten picks and 3 #1 overall.  Yeah, most may have gone anyway, but that's not really the point.    A kid who used to play for me was one of Calipari's managers for 3 years and told me all about the financial people and money managers he brings in to teach the kids; the nutritionists, the trainers; the holistic medical people; legal people...  There is a whole lot more to getting a kid ready than what happens on the floor.  Yeah...he does get them ready, and I mentioned mentally and conditioning specifically because I am well aware of the skill development that doesn't happen in college....which was the point of my post.  

Seriously? Most of them on the bench? AD, Booker, KAT, Wall, etc. He is excellent at getting guys prepared for the NBA. If he wasn't top recruits wouldnt flock there every year. It would be hard to tell a kid to pass up an opportunity like that. Especially to go play for a coach who has never had a single player drafted in the NBA and hasn't help Romeo at all IMO.

I have no postseason thoughts because Indiana has no postseason future this year. We've now miss the NCAA tournament 8 out of the last 15 years. Just sad how far our program has fell.
