And Ballo, MM compliments them very well. A little offset of Malik's mins, a little growth from beyond the arc from Malik, along with continued work in facilitating, and he can easily function well with the others, also.
Woodson gotta loosen the reins though, let these dudes run.

fwgreenway got a reaction from cthomas in Oumar Ballo (7'0" C) TO INDIANA
Welcome aboard Mr Ballo. I must say I like this big man as he replaces Ware. Not so much of an offensive threat, but on the defensive side that hopefully gets us out in more transition bb. Getting out on the break and putting up shots earlier in the clock might help with some of our recent pounding the paint.

Def he'll have to compete for guard minutes. He is such a major unknown I don't want going into this upcoming season like we did with Gunn. Gunn was a major unknown and for him it didn't pan out too well

Just wanted to add a comment on the bag dropping.
Id recommend the fanbase not villainize the bag dropping from Indiana but instead be happy we can win bag drops now.
its been going on for eternity in college basketball and for the most part those dropping the biggest bags are winning the most games.
I can pretty much assure you if we stop dropping bags the fanbase will have a lot more to worry about than we already do.
id recommend embracing it and just leaving it out of the equation. It’s been a part of high level recruiting forever and now it just expands into mid level recruiting as well.
Be happy we can compete in that for now and cross your fingers the staff uses its salary cap wisely.

Trilly has put his prediction in for Rice to IU.
The guy on the his discord earlier said that Rice was a Hoosier, also said that IU is pulling all the stops to make Ballo not take any visits after ours.
Also said that the person Rice has been communicating with is Conwell.

This should be a wake up call and what to expect when IU does ultimately end up moving on from Woodson.

There are lots of things to play out and probably names that will be considered and ultimately choose Indiana that we have not even mentioned or thought about. So, this exercise is entirely pointless other than it serves to allow me to get my rambling thoughts into the ether. Based on what I have read and some reading between the lines, the very optimistic (but not completely delusional) best-case scenario would be something like as follows:
-PG - one of Tony Perkins or Myles Rice/SG - Ryan Conwell/Forward - Mackenzie Mgbako/Forward - Malik Reneau/Center - Amir Williams (Drexel)
Bench - Trey Galloway, Connor Hickman, Bryson Tucker, Gabe Cupps, Jakai Newton, Anthony Leal, backup big guy
Keeping in mind that is a best-case scenario and very unlikely to occur roster, what would that group project to be? Impossible to know but I'd feel comfortable in that group being a top 4-5 team in the league and safely in the NCAA Tournament. Is obtaining a roster like that at all doable for this staff? I guess anything is possible until it gets to be May and we are on options D, E and F to try and fill out the roster. I'll keep on hoping.

I’m not sure if I’ve ever posted saying I’m an NC State alum who also considers himself a bigger Indiana fan but I’m saying it now. I love this NC State team. To be honest I think burns will have 3 fouls in the first 5 mins against edey but my goodness has this team been fun to watch. I’m a younger Indiana fan (25) and this run has been so much freaking fun. I just hope I can experience it for my number one team.
I know some of you can’t fathom rooting for another team outside of Indiana. My dad went there and instilled this fandom in me since I was a youngin. but growing up in North Carolina I just couldn’t afford the out of state tuition. Seeing these guys beat UNC and Duke multiple times on this run is not going to do me any favors when I delusionally think whatever Indiana team we have next can make a similar run.
All of this to say I want nothing more than for DJ Burns and the Wolfpack to beat the mfers from up north and continue their streak of losing to double digit seeds. I’m on an emotional high right now and will spend the entire week convincing myself of one simple statement that has been ringing true for the last 3 weeks “why not us”

That's why I think it's less and less likely he comes here. Realistically to compete in the top half or third of the B10 next year IU needs:
A starting PG (Perkins) $300k
A scoring 2 guard (Conwell, Blackmon, insert 50-60 other names who will enter the portal) ~$550k
A defensive 5 who can play 20-25 mpg whether he starts or comes off the bench (Huntley-Hatfield) $400-500k
A shooter off the bench (Hickman or Humrichous) $200-300k
That would complete your rotation and leave you with 11 scholarships filled. Would allow you to sign someone like Diamant Blazi.
From there you would have a million potential lineups and rotations.

From the start of the tourney I have always felt that UCONN's guards are the key factor and IMO they are better than the PUke guards. Let Edey get his 30 and slow down or stop everybody else. Last night it looked like Mark Few had watched the Hood-Schifino game at WestLaughy ... their guard was getting that jump shot at the elbow. UT might beat them, hell I want anyone to beat them. LOL

If I thought that were true I’d be fine with Blackmon. But my fear is what you’d actually get is Blackmon giving you 17, giving up 22 and putting your bigs on the bench with fouls because he can’t stay in front of any decent scorer.

I think we're in a great place with him. I normally wouldn't be wishing for a kid to leave ISU, but realistically he's outta there so it might as well be to Indiana.
If I haven't been clear, I would literally die for Ryan Conwell.
