    Only puzzled by the assignment of tight ends coach as from what little I know about him, as he was never a pass game guy. His offenses featured duel running backs and they ran the ball 75% of the time with wildcat like QBs.  Maybe that changed down in Florida but I know he wasn’t well liked at Trinity and Tulsa Union as a result of his running game strategy. Either way, he has all the in state connections one can have and having a close IMG connection should grow into a huge pipeline (or at least one can hope). 

    That’s awesome! My mom knew Kevin when she taught at Warren Central and I guess I met him when I was 10 or 11...I don’t remember that. Lol. TE coach.....my only take on that is a lot of coaches shift positions here and there to get well rounded. This will probably only help him get back to OC or becoming a HC at D1 level. I like that he has some experience at this level. I’d say img ties will Help somewhat not saying we will get the cream of the crop, but it should help at IMG but also strengthen those FL ties. Not to mention I believe Josiah Sears is the OC down there still. He ran great offenses at the lower tiers of college football, and I’ve watched some IMG films and it was a pretty mixed play calling. I say this hire can only help the Hoosiers. Excited about the two hires so far after having some time to read and think about what’s gone down recently

    Not inside info or anything just what I’ve seen on twitter....From what I’ve read....looks like Teagardin(SP?) will move to special teams, and looks like IU is close to getting Jason Jones. Was a DB coach at Ole miss....this past season he was at FAU. Looks like a good recruiter from what I’ve found....he would be the new safeties coach.

    This is a huge hire. The recruiting doors he opens in state and in Florida can't be overstated.

     

    As far as Sheridan goes, I can understand some of the pensive reactions. I'm a bit biased as I coached Nick in jr high and know his dad. His dad is a long time asst coach at the high D1 and NFL level. It's a football family with the mindset that will mesh well with what CTA preaches. Nick as a freshman had a football IQ that was off the charts and a personality of a true leader. If he's continued to develop those qualities, I think we may have gotten us a real good one.

    I’m not attacking you. I’m simply wondering how his scheme sucked for the most part and What part of this defense you obviously hated....because statistically speaking it was a good defense for IU in historical terms, and youth terms. If you want to look back at most recent success under Tom when he first was a DC at IU. I’ll say that some of his play calling was confusing during some games and some situational stances, but overall after taking a step back his adjustments to second half’s were pretty good all year. I thought the defense had some bad stretches in games for sure, but overall looking back I can’t say this defense was a total sick party...his plays getting in on time were hit or miss all year that was frustrating. However it’s not like he had no experience...he’s had more tenure at D1(FBS and FCS) DC duties  than Tom Allen has had at this level calling a defense. Again not attacking just wondering why the defense Sucked so bad ?

I mostly wanted to see what the cameras were showing, but then got sucked in to wanting to see how so many things played out on TV vs. seeing it live. A very solid showing for IU football in my opinion. 

    Side notes: it also happened to be the 2nd highest attended and 4th most watched non-NY6 bowl. Great overall exposure. 

    Section 242 was rocking I might add.....rowdy!

    Ik you said don’t say it was at you....but Natural that really wasn’t pointed at you just happened to come up after a comment of yours...I like what you have to say and have input in. I’m low key pissed as well. Lol hence my joyful post next about Moorhead lol. Did I want internal um negative to the nth degree, but is this the worst move by an internal hire...nah....he comes from a good background and has been groomed by some of the best. But still.....

He’s learned from rich rod. Deboer to name a couple. I’m sure he’s got a scheme that incorporates many looks and used TEs. I doubt Allen does this to shoot himself in the foot. I’m sure there were plenty of conferences and meetings. I’m not sure where he was during games but he could’ve been in the booth with Deboer learning on the job. I’m not jumping ship like some have already (I’ll edit-from what I’ve seen on any site or anything...)

    I'm Indifferent.....would I have loved someone who’s already run plays before yeah, but I’m also optimistic as Sheridan just spent a year being tutored by one of the best in the game.....in his scheme. Coach allen wanted to keep scheme the same or similar. Sheridan has also been a pretty big recruiter for us as well. It will be interesting but I’m ready for it and Sheridan has been tabbed as a young guy to watch. So let’s go boys.

    My thing with the next OC is he is similar in scheme. Moorhead used TEs at PSU and he had a scrambling QB. Penix can run but to me he isn’t true dual. He can get out of the pocket but Ramsey will put head down and run....if you want apples to apples or look at trace and Tommy Stevens who followed Moorhead to Mississippi state. I think he would adapt to penix, but let’s just say he enjoys calling plays and enjoys being at IU and using his north east and East coast ties for recruiting....hypothetically let’s say he stays around until dexter is QB and in this hypothetical Dexter has developed and polished some....but that kid shows glimpses of trace in his tape especially getting out of the pocket and throwing on the run....dimes and zip on his ball....just needs to polish stepping up in pocket if need be.

    Given CTA's comments at December Signing Day, I am a bit surprised to see another offer & visit for a linemen.  I am hoping this isn't the signal that a current player is leaving early.

    I have not heard much on attrition. That is always up for change....but this class was always going to be 6-8 OL recruits if they found the right ones.

    Joe moorhead got fired today should at least give him a call. He can call an offense for sure. Northeast connections......he will have suitors but Tom Allen should give him a call at least.....uses TEs and knows how to call plays.

    Been down here in paradise since Monday. Just dropped gf off at airport as she has to work Thursday and Friday. She just said about 200 IU fans were getting off planes and walking through terminal. Great sign. What a great thing playing in Florida and the only game on that night. I’m surprised at how many IU fans are down here in all honesty.  I’ve ran into a bunch of UT fans...50/50 in nice guys compared with dbags lol. Restaurants around the are where pep rally is being held....not staffed very well really anywhere so beware if you’re coming down for the pep rally. Currently at brix taphouse. 
     

    onto the game....

    if we can get Sampson James going often...I think we have a good chance. Run game will be key, their front line guys are their upsides....I like our size against their dbs. I like our first half matchups against their WRs, but when Jennings comes in for second half....I’d say bracket him....our young team will need to act like we’ve been here before as we have only 8 players on our squad who have played in a bowl....tons of bulletin board material out there...use it but don’t lose focus on what you come here to do. Show that you belong. Make another step and make this season even more memorable. Quiet the rocky top chants. Let’s go

    I don’t know about Canada. Would be nice but I think he wants a HC job. Also, to my understanding he wants to be able to hire and replace the staff with his own position coaches. Ik he was somewhat thought about if Deboer didn’t come. But if I remember Allen didn’t want to give that much power in terms of wanting certain people hired/fired. He wants to build his own offensive staff. So I’d say he wants HC
