2015 Basketball Recruiting Class
It doesn't make a bit of difference if our posts are optimistic or not. We're just fans on a message board. This place is starting to sound a lot like the 247 boards, any time someone is the least bit critical everyone gets all worked up. I look at the future, and it doesn't look that good to me. Our interior is a sinkhole big enough to swallow a bus, and people are seemingly counting on Troy and Stan to look like Vic did as a junior. I see the team is just as young as it was last year, because there is no class balance.
It just gets really old when you repeat yourself in every thread. But we're never going to agree. 2015 Basketball Recruiting Class
It's not just me. People ate up some of the things he said in the Dakich podcast, and ignored that he also said Derek Elston could've played in the NBA if he was healthy. Don't jump on me just because I'm willing to take a critical look at the program. I know, that doesn't fit with what so many on here want; which seems to be a fan base of people that will only look at a few bright points and pretend the rest doesn't exist.
Define "ate up". So some people appreciated certain things he said. Why rain on everyone's parade? You keep looking to the past when the rest of us are moving on and looking forward. Many of us are also extremely critical of Crean DURING the season when he messes up. The offseason is for optimism. Sent from my place of advanced, analytical thinking: the toilet.
I'm just quoting exactly what Crean said, and this fan base ate it up. Now that he's developed his love affair with kids that can jump from the DMV people change their tune.
I'm glad he's able to move on from something he said 6 years ago when he sees success elsewhere. 2015 Basketball Recruiting Class
That's how I feel. I don't care where the kid is from as long as 1. He wants to be here. 2. He bleeds cream and crimson when he does get here. 3. He busts his ass while he's here. And 4. He helps us win. It doesn't matter if you're from Indiana or an igloo in Alaska. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
The whole argument for the in-state kids is that they know the tradition and have grown up Hoosiers. Shockingly, this isn't true for all recruits in Indiana(!!!). So, why is a kid from Indiana who seems to want to play elsewhere worth fighting for when there is a kid over in the DMV dying to put on the candy stripes? It's extra special when it works out that we land in-state kids like Zeller and JBJ, but it's not going to work out with every recruit. Source: 6'7" Nate Ritchie to join Hoosiers

@Justin_Albers: Nate Ritchie turned down scholarship offers from Air Force and Toledo to walk on at Indiana. That’s special stuff. #iubb That's what I like to see. Good job, Crean and Co. Sent from my place of advanced, analytical thinking: the toilet.

    2015 Basketball Recruiting Class
I was thinking 3, but I could see 4. Coleman is at the absolute top of the list for me, that's the kind of kid we absolutely cannot let get out of state. Crean said he was going to "lock down the borders" and Coleman should be a big priority to put in candy stripes. Other than that I'm not sure. We're not getting Zimmerman, and Maker hasn't reclassified so he's not a 2015. And yes it relevant, we have to start getting these classes balanced. Should've been working towards that from the get go.
If Coleman doesn't want to play at IU, that's his choice. "Locking down the borders" doesn't mean a thing. After we make our sales pitch, it's down to the kid and their family. Sent from my place of advanced, analytical thinking: the toilet.

Cody Zeller - New Orleans Pelicans

A program of academic excellence. Zeller doing it right. @CodyZeller: I just finished up two online classes through IU. I got an A and an A-. Hopefully that'll earn me a spot on the NBA All-Academic team! Sent from my place of advanced, analytical thinking: the toilet.

    #USMNT - 2014 World Cup
I'm still trying to figure this all out. What is stoppage time and why is this game still going? I'm so confused. Lol Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
Stoppage time is time added on at half and at the end of the 90 minutes to compensate for injury time and dead ball time since it is a running clock. If at the end of the 90 minutes, plus stoppage time, the match is tied, and since this is the knockout round, two 15 minute extra time periods will be played. Both halves are played, even if a goal is scored. If the game is still tied after extra time, they go to penalty kicks. Sent from my place of advanced, analytical thinking: the toilet.

    (2016) C Thon Maker
I was thinking of how great it was that Crean offered a scholly to both Thon and his little brother Matur. Such a smart move. I'm hoping that puts us above the others trying to recruit Thon. It definitely will make IU stand out more in their household and in conversations they have about where they might want to play. PLUS, Matur will be a beast too, so i'm glad we offered early to that big guy.
It's almost like Crean knows what he's doing

Ranking: If These Players Exceed Expectations...
Yeah, that's the catch 22 with Blackmon. If he succeeds as we hope, he is a goner! We have 3-4 players with NBA talent on this roster, so even though we are thin we still have a chance to be optimistic. I just hate we were unable to fill the backend of the roster worth a hoot!
Blackmon, Troy and Yogi all have the chance to go pro after next year if they exceed expectations. That would be disastrous for us the following year. As much as I like to see Crean developing talent and sending kids to the NBA, we need to keep these players to have two solid years in 2014-2015 and 2015-2016. If we can hold on to the current roster and add some solid 2015 players, that 2015-2016 team could be epic. Edit: I know this is a lot of hypotheticals, but it's fun to talk about. What is your favorite thing about IU?
I hate to sound like a total freshman, but are the Villas a good place for parties? I'd like to keep police contact to a minimum haha
Lol no but it's pretty much your only option unless you have friends living off campus or until rush begins, if you're rushing. The cops are usually looking for people tripping and falling or doing blatantly stupid things. Just be smart and you can avoid them. Also, don't ever be holding alcohol at tailgates if you're underage. They've cracked down so much these last two years. Sent from my place of advanced, analytical thinking: the toilet.
