1 hour ago, btownqb said:We have AT LEAST 6 open spots
With the portal additions of Larkins, Minor, and Miller I have CCC and staff at 80 scholarships - 5 open- going into the fall with 10 former scholarship athletes in the portal as of today (Lowry, Howland, Perry, Boehler, Miller (TE), Larkins, Blidi, Casey, Jones, and Minor (LB).). Are you tracking another entry @btownqb?

https://twitter.com/DadaDoss1/status/1779550430453731826Excited to see the commitment, but the young man is on the small side - seeing 5'7", 5'8" or so...scares me with some some of the bigger B1G receivers.

I didn't realize Drew had a college-aged kido at Baylor, great insight. I've also heard anecdotally that Drew is a deeply religious man and the orientation of Baylor and Waco, TX in general suits him and his family well.

Just now, WayneFleekHoosier said:This is where things get interesting. Galloway is going to play a lot and then we have 3 guards already as backups.
I feel like we have 2-3 starter spots to sell and then 3-4 bench spots.
Staff will need to figure out the starter/depth piece part of the puzzle.
not easy in the portal.
Normally I would be right there with you @WayneFleekHoosier, but given the dearth of quality across the roster I think there is a little bit of just 'add dudes and pray the staff can figure it out in the coming months.' Not the ideal strategy, but when Leal, Anthony Walker and Cupps are your only semi-dependable reserves you know a talent infusion is desperately needed.

I’m on board. I’d love to see Dolson’s big board of coaches.
I think he’s praying Woodson can go 3 more and find some success, but he better have his big board ready in case this season turns cluster.
I’ve said this before, but in some ways I love Woodys moxy. I mean, that heat was hot. He could of cowered and we all would have rejoiced. But he bet on himself to come back into the blazing kitchen and give it a go. I honestly hope it all ends miraculously. It would be best.

Quick update on outgoing transfers:
Philip Blidi has visits lined up to Washington (April 5-7th), LSU (April 10-12th), Oklahoma (April 19-20th)
Anthony Jones is visiting Cal this weekend (April 4-6th)
Not seeing much on Kam Perry or Jared Casey so we shall see on that front.

In other words, survivorship bias occurs when an individual only considers the surviving observation without considering those data points that didn't “survive” in the event.

After seeing the Blidi and Perry news I poked around the '24 Spring Football roster and noticed that Max Longman, Matt Hohlt, and Orlando Greenlow are no longer listed on the team. I haven't come across any portal announcements for the three - has anyone seen anything?

I love that Carlyle's #3 KenPom comp is Matt Carlino...

Couldn't agree more - DeVries is a winner. Has consistently won 20+ at Drake, makes the tournament regularly in a 1-bid MVC, and plays a fun brand of basketball (see the Indiana St. MVC Title Game)

7 minutes ago, Chris007 said:No. QB talked them into getting Woody a few years ago because he was an NBA coach. With their limited sports background, they think if you can coach the Knicks than you can coach IU. Then Fred made the switch aroo by hiring Archie with their money so now they're showing us by keeping Mike around for a 4th year and trying to give him everything he needs to be successful.
Man Chris, this just hurts my soul...money is a MF'er

...and the track record for programs that bring in 4+ transfers in once cycle is by-and-large not great

46 minutes ago, Chris007 said:Rabby just said the staff will be looking for a rim protector in the portal next season. That tells me one of two things. We will still play two bigs with Reneau and the transfer or both Ware & Reneau are gone.
For what its worth Rabby was fairly direct with the Hysterics last week that he expects a two big lineup in '25 - at the time it was a Queen or Portal conversation. Now the staff is left with just the latter.

6 hours ago, JSHoosier said:I checked and didn't see anything about him signed, a Twitter post from late December looked like he was still committed.
That's what I am seeing as well. In December, Peterson mentioned that he would sign during the Feb period, but to my knowledge - he hasn't. What I find odd about is that the staff released their '24 signing class visual on 2/7, inclusive of transfers on social media and he wasn't included.
I wonder if this is a situation where the staff wants to maintain a solid relationship with the school & community (Carmel) but doesn't see a fit on the roster (which wouldnt be a huge surprise given CCC is at 90-92 scholarship as of today) and is encouraging him to find the right spot behind the scenes?
-
Does anyone know if Christian Peterson from Carmel ended up signing,? Young man committed last Summer and didn't sign during the early period.

I am with you, I expect CCC to fill at least 7-8 spots in the coming weeks....maybe more. It was clear to me last night that the talent infusion must continue on this roster (specifically on the defensive side) to reach the staff's expectations.
