Transfer Portal w IU Interest
MemphisHoosier replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Survivorship bias is a type of sample selection bias that occurs when an individual mistakes a visible successful subgroup as the entire group. In other words, survivorship bias occurs when an individual only considers the surviving observation without considering those data points that didn't “survive” in the event. -

After seeing the Blidi and Perry news I poked around the '24 Spring Football roster and noticed that Max Longman, Matt Hohlt, and Orlando Greenlow are no longer listed on the team. I haven't come across any portal announcements for the three - has anyone seen anything? -

Couldn't agree more - DeVries is a winner. Has consistently won 20+ at Drake, makes the tournament regularly in a 1-bid MVC, and plays a fun brand of basketball (see the Indiana St. MVC Title Game) -
Does it require a monthly discord investment?

...and the track record for programs that bring in 4+ transfers in once cycle is by-and-large not great

Was this a test to see how many degenerate posters would bring Tim Priller's recruitment into the conversation? Because I took the bait - ugh.

That's where I am as well -> poor relationship (?) + transparency that he is entering the portal = no run in games -

For what its worth Rabby was fairly direct with the Hysterics last week that he expects a two big lineup in '25 - at the time it was a Queen or Portal conversation. Now the staff is left with just the latter.

Love to see the recognition for this group, my 8 y/o wrestles with the Brownsburg Club and ran into Brayton Lee last year and he couldn't have been nicer. He spoke to the elementary aged kiddos for a good 10 minutes and shared words of encouragement. Needless to say I was thrilled when he transferred to B'ton and hope he makes a run in the B1G tourney.

IUFB Offseason Updates
MemphisHoosier replied to ThompsonHoosier's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
That's what I am seeing as well. In December, Peterson mentioned that he would sign during the Feb period, but to my knowledge - he hasn't. What I find odd about is that the staff released their '24 signing class visual on 2/7, inclusive of transfers on social media and he wasn't included. I wonder if this is a situation where the staff wants to maintain a solid relationship with the school & community (Carmel) but doesn't see a fit on the roster (which wouldnt be a huge surprise given CCC is at 90-92 scholarship as of today) and is encouraging him to find the right spot behind the scenes? -

Does anyone know if Christian Peterson from Carmel ended up signing,? Young man committed last Summer and didn't sign during the early period. -

In the portal era, there are consolation prizes. Not saying it will happen, but there is a greater than 0% chance Lewis goes to USC, Georgia, etc. and things don't work out. Sunseri has nurtured that relationships with the family and Lewis enjoyed his visit to B'ton - low likelihood, but stranger things have happened. -

Without a doubt, my four was a probably a bit too optimistic - I could easily see a scenario where there are 7-8 open grans in April. -

What. scares me is that I expect the staff to have four open scholarships outside of Liam this Spring - 13th Open Scholly, Walker, XJ, and two transfers (seems reasonable at this point). Not sure I have confidence in the staff to reshape the backcourt and have contributors with those four grants. -
Results haven't looked great this season at Notre Dame, but I would take Shrews - a Stevens disciple - in a heart-beat. The man gets the most out of his squads and has learned from some of the best in Painter and Stevens.

I ran into CJ's father around Indy before the holidays, and he couldn't have been nicer and a better ambassador for the program. I mentioned I had younger kiddos and we make it to a few games each season, and out of the blue he encouraged me to reach out before I take the family down to Bloomington again and he would get CJ to meet my little guys. Impressive family, no matter what happens to CJ's playing career moving forward I will be cheering for the young man.

Junior Day(s) was this weekend, a number of visitors from Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, and Tennessee. Purely qualitative, but seeing a lot of overlap with Louisville, Cincy, and MSU offers/visits. -
IUFB Offseason Updates

Name to keep an eye on for the '24 class is DL Mikeshun Beeler from Chicago Simeon. Recently received an offer from Coach Buddha and discussed visiting this weekend (not sure if it materialized with the weather.). He will be announcing his decision during the February signing period. To date, he has received mostly MAC level offers/interest sprinkled with a few lower tier Power 5 offers. https://247sports.com/Player/mikeshun-beeler-46129593/ https://n.rivals.com/content/athletes/mikeshun-beeler-299387?guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAHI2Ayod0GB4XpvPC0Tf9A2n0v9ckDUMBqZoYD4xSIJbfPpVsMDr_gsXJMfi93wKXmf2D9WsHhrZncYInPyCR53ld6gKB2Mj7DaWN_VmK4zOyIBBjxGWuqzBxsbbWIT9sUFmwd2wfqoj6V24u4kZbt_L6k2dg1fUpiIwMvse6RK9&view=pv
