What the heck is going on? Decommits from MSU now I guess Purdue is the favored landing spot.

    Deland McCullough

I'm sorry is there a law stating that I can't do that? I didn't think so. Deal with it.

    Thon Maker

This one basketball player would completely change the expectations for next year. Literally from Sweet 16 and I am happy to Final Four or Bust.

Yeah I agree. It happens at every program in the country. That's why I believe one major factor in being a great head coach is hiring great assistants. Top level assistants make a head coaches job a whole lot easier.

As far as I know McCullough never interviewed for the position so I doubt he was THAT close to taking the job. I think ND interviewed Denson and realized this is the best person for the job. And yeah, working for Brian Kelly is no walk in the park, but he has a history of assistants leaving for an upgraded position somewhere else. Just last year both the Off and Def Coord. left for HC positions. Martin to Miami oh and Diaco to UCONN. Keep turning your assistants into head coaches and people will want to come coach for you.

If he can keep finding diamonds in the rough on the recruiting trail and turning them into 2000 yard rushers, he will have plenty of opportunities to move up, whether at IU or somewhere else.

Does he have room to move up in the future? Like to Asst. Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator or Off. Coordinator? I know that is a big jump but that is why Alford left ND, he just saw no room for growth there. I am not sure what the offensive coaching situation is in Bloomington, but this is a guy to keep at IU for sure.

Hopefully IU realizes that they have an up and coming coach on their hands and if they want to keep him away from the big dogs, they better pony up some cash and find a way to promote him. I know a lot of ND fans that wanted him over Denson, and considering Denson's history with ND, I'd say that bodes well for McCullough.

Looks like IU will have McCullough for one more year. Denson has reportedly accepted the job. I would have been happy with either hire, but Denson being an alum and former great, it makes sense to hire him above McCullough.

Have to buy them at the box office and it is arena level tickets only.

I heard that the Mad Ants are making it Hoosier Hysteria night. If you wear IU gear to the game, you get half priced tickets. Thinking I am gonna make the trip up there for it.

I think Denson will always be plan A, considering his history at ND. Problem is he just moved his family from Miami (OH) to South Florida a month ago. Whether McCullough comes to ND or not, unless IU decides they want to pay him what he is worth, odds are a big time program is gonna come by and snatch him up. From what I have gathered, he is a coach that is really on the rise.

He would most likely have a new title, like RB Coach/Asst. Head Coach or Recruiting Coordinator. It is not a lateral move by any means and he will be getting a pay increase. This is a decision that all coaches have to make if they want to eventually be a Head Coach or Off. Coordinator. It is a tough decision but IMO not a very hard one in the end. He has already got the running back situation in Bloomington  looking very good for the future so it will be up to IU to hire a great replacement, which I am betting they will.

Rumor is ND is wanting an interview with him to hopefully fill their RB Coach position, which was left vacant by Tony Alford, who went to OSU. Apparently McCullough was a finalist for that job also. It is between him and Autry Denson, who would probably be the favorite for the position considering he is ND's all time leading rusher, but he just accepted a job at USF 4 weeks ago and it happens that his wife is a USF alum.    What is there to know about MCCullough? The eye test is very impressive, having a 2000 yard rusher and 1st or 2nd round pick. And the fact that Tevin was not highly touted coming out of high school and Deland recruited him personally.    Oh and sorry if ND does hire him away. You can thank Urbie and OSU for jacking one of the best recruiters in the country away from ND. Can't help but think it is a step in the right direction for IU that ND and OSU are looking to poach position coaches from its staff.
