  1. Woodson isn’t going anywhere.
  2. Agreed! And it’s nice to enjoy basketball without having a dog in the fight.
  3. Thats the plan brother. That and following High School ball. My son asked me what we were going to do since we weren’t going to anymore IU games. We sat and made a list of Indiana High School gyms we want to visit and watch games in. We checked off New Castle and will go to state this coming weekend.
  4. That’s fine you feel that way. I post here bc I’ve done so for a decade and it’s become a habit. Also I really enjoy the banter with other posters. Normally I’d be engaged in recruiting. I can’t tell you who or how many portal prospects we are in on. Simply don’t care. Recruiting? No idea what’s going on other than last time I checked we had 0 kids signed to the class where we needed guys. in the past I always had sneaking suspicions that the administration was inept but held out hope that they just had a string of bad luck. After this season, it’s been completely exposed that the program is not only inept, but corrupt and enriching themselves and friends. I resent them for it. Enough to have committed to withdrawing support in every possible way. I’m not interested in being an IU fan anymore. It doesn’t even hurt to say that anymore. Shamfully, I admit that I’m now starting to get feelings of satisfaction watching the program burn. Mainly bc I want the people who run it to face public shame and embarrassment. They deserve it. They certainly don’t deserve the unconditional support of the fanbase.
  5. I would love to believe that but I just can’t. I have not one ounce of optimism left for IU basketball. I’ve been duped for decades now. I am 100% convinced that Indiana cannot and will not ever be a winner again. They will do everything in their power to prevent the program from reaching its potential. From the sounds of it, Dolson is fighting the good fight but there are far too many guardrails installed. I’d go as far as saying that if they ever accidentally hired a winner, they’d find a reason to get rid of him.

I just knew the changes to the staff wouldn’t be changes that made sense. The glaringly obvious staff member that should have been swapped out was Coach Ya. The recruiting boon just hasn’t been there for him. He’s overpaid for what he delivers. He needs to come through huge in the portal this season. I seriously doubt it happens though. Never been more disinterested in Indiana Basketball, in my entire life.

I’d say that’s pretty consistent with this board too. It’s been pretty split. I and others have been pretty open that we didn’t think he was the answer. I think he will be a thorn in our side, as far as recruiting the state, but if we can ever land a winner, he doesn’t worry me. The administration is what worries me.
  8. The only solution is to land Brad Stevens and turn May into de facto Denny Crum. I had a dream the other night that Brad Stevens was announced as the Indiana Basketball coach. bing….bang…boom….. problems solved.

I honestly don’t feel that we can land the rolls royce’s
  10. Are you the one who has been mentioning TJ Otzelberger? If so, I think you’ve been on to something. Cyclones look dominant and he took no time getting them there. They were AWFUL prior to him showing up too!

  13. Yes. And I love that he stood up for us and called out the administration publicly. We need more people to do the same. These people operate in the shadows (zero anccountability) and sh!t on the people who are responsible for any relevance the program still has.

How hard do you guys think NGW is sweating right now? Now that the reality is starting to set in that we have to start landing close to 7 or more players, he’s got to be feeling it.

He missed all but 2 weeks of his last high school season and all of his freshman season at IU. He had to have microfracture surgery. I don’t think it’s as much doom casting as it is having realistic expectations. Can he come back and help us? Possibly. But the likelihood is EXTREMELY low. Is it reasonable to expect him to come back after nearly missing two full seasons (in a row) and raise our level of guard play beyond X, Cupps, and Gallo? I don’t think that’s reasonable at all. The injury and surgery has completely derailed the careers of nearly everyone who’s had it. Amare Stoudamire is the only person who has had the surgery and came back to match or exceed previous levels… his athleticism was nowhere close to what it was afterwards. There is also a direct correlation between the time missed and performance (or even the ability to play again). For example: Stoudamire only missed 5 months. Greg Oden missed 13.5 months.

I really hate to see people expecting Jakai Newton to be explosive. He had one of the worst injuries a basketball player can have. I cannot think of a single player that’s had it, come back even close to athletic as they were prior to it. Best case is he retained some athleticism and developed a ton of skill and IQ. Count me as one who thinks we get close to nothing from Jakai Newton in his time at IU. Which sucks bc I was really excited about him prior to his injury.

    Guessing this one was forced.
  20. I’ll forgive you for all your transgressions if you buy me a round at Glendarin this summer.
  21. Imagine having a dude that got the entire fanbase united!! We could run up some ungodly figures.
  22. $6 mil is extremely competitive. Like elite level. Trilly stated Kentucky and Kansas were at $7m. UNC is unreported but estimated at $6m. Duke reported $4m but he knows it’s much higher. Our NIL is not what’s holding us back, in anyway shape or form. It’s the negative recruiting that will come from schools with similar NiL figures, that want the same guys we want. These numbers do not account for any latent/obscure sources outside NIL.

  24. You weren’t lying about things being a mess internally! That detail wasn’t necessary to reveal the systemic dysfunction, but it certainly highlights it more starkly. I remember watching a Brad Stevens interview and one other coach (I cannot seem to remember) speak about how they needed everyone in the program moving in lockstep. Even the janitor. I’d hate to be Dolson working in that environment. Makes me wonder how this is viewed in coaching circles. Seems pretty obvious that the administration is projecting their internal toxicity onto the fanbase.
  25. Doubtful. Putting myself in Dolson’s shoes, having to get this right, and understanding the importance of timing with the portal, there’s no way I even reach out to the Stevens camp. Once bitten, twice shy, applies here, I would think. No time to waste. Stevens is hell bent on getting #18 for the Celtics, and they are sitting at the top of the NBA currently. If I was to guess, it would have been Scott Drew or Nate Oats. Both guys would win a natty here. Drew, in my eyes, would be a Kelvin Sampson equivalent, as far as upside potential at IU (Not relating to what happened). Oats not far off.
