I believe you that his plan is to be a one-and-done.

Don't know if the NBA will agree with him.

Our team gpa is through the roof right now, we just came off a big ten championship, we have a flow of burger boys coming through, we have another promising team this year. Would we be talking so much about this if Devin Davis didn't jump onto a hood of a car? I watch too many programs have the same alcohol or drug incidents every year. Yea, we all have this ideal about IU is supposed to be superior but honestly, that's unrealistic and WAS NOT EVEN TRUE IN THE PAST WITH BOB KNIGHT. So really, IU is no more clean of a program than Louisville.

I'd rather have a program that makes men out of young boys. Some of you guys act like literally nothing is supposed to "go wrong" with our program and it is some saint on the throne of moral standards. IU NEVER WAS IN THE FIRST PLACE. Quit lofting IU into some fantasy period where the bball players didn't drink, harass women and smoke the devil's lettuce.

As long as this program isn't handing out Mercedes and Ps3's with a stack in the bottom of the box, I'm good. Crean isn't doing any of that and is just a hair too lenient to his players. Orrrrr, maybe just like when he won't release info about injuries, he carries that same trait with the "infractions" and in house punishments.

So in summary - As long as Crean has a winning record and we make the dance I think we are doing more harm than good by running him off. Unless you are pulling a hall of fame'r, elite coach here to IU I wouldn't even consider getting rid of Crean. This dude is improving himself day to day as well. Why not hang tight for his glory years also? The rebuild was done, we had two killer teams recently and 1 drop back, last year. I'm not sure I see the problem. I want another banner also but we are in a good spot as a program.

EDIT: The only thing I think should have some serious consideration in all of this is if Stan should remain on the team but Crean is loyal to building the character of these guys. We don't know what has happened behind the closed door but I'm banking that one more with Stan and Crean is pulling the plug.

just my thoughts - many will disagree..

First of all, Crean is under contract until 2020, so a contract extension had better not be even on the table at this point.

Now, what does he need to do to stay at IU? For starters, he has to win, win the right way and keep these kids out of trouble. That’s the obvious, easy answer. What kind of W/L record does he need to keep the job? Not sure. And, in all honesty, winning and losing is not part of the contract. It’s understood that the reason he’s here is to win, but there’s nothing in the contract AFAIK that says he has to win 20 games or 15 games or 1 game. Again, as I recall, there are incentives for winning X number of games, and for reaching milestones like winning the B1G tourney, getting to specific rounds of the NCAA tourney, etc. But there’s nothing in the contract that says he can be terminated for not winning, for example, 10 games.

In order to quell the current firestorm, I’d guess he better have a winning record this year. Certainly, a winning record in conference will help. But Crean just needs to keep his (and his team's collective) nose clean. Stay out of trouble, keep the GPA up, and show progress on the court.

Glass has already gone on the record supporting Crean. With that done, Crean and the players would have to screw it up pretty bad again to see him ushered out of Assembly Hall.

Right or wrong, winning cures a lot of what ails you, especially if it’s done the right way.

I'm not buying any of this crap that he has some sort of obligation for his media hype and outrage because he went here. A story is a story and it certainly got him listeners. When Barlow and those knuckleheads were getting arrested at Purdue he was all over it. When the Purdue football team was getting arrested every weekend and punching women, he was ALL over it. Yet never once did he call out Hope or Painter like he has Crean. Don't tell me for one second Dakich isn't bitter we didn't offer the job. Never heard a peep about Painter losing his team or having a lack of institutional control. Why the double standard Danny boy?

Just got done watching most of the interview and I have a feeling 99% of people will disagree but that seemed to be a very effective interview. He's shown he's a good mentor and overall good guy and I think it's become evident that he is honestly trying his hardest to straighten things out. If anything, these incidents were at least a wake up call for him to start doing a better job and executing what he says and also for the players to watch out for one another and show a lot more discipline and leadership on and off the court. I'm not gonna argue about who needs to be the coach from next year on but I will say I gained more respect for him after this and I will continue to support him and the players as this is our Indiana Hoosiers at the moment.

I'm in the minority on this specifically but I appreciate him for coming out and apologizing for his teammates recent actions, it's the first step nonetheless. Just as I give props to Crean for taking phone calls yesterday during his interview. Just as I give props to the former players for coming out and expressing their feelings towards what's come out. And just as I give props to Dakich for coming out and giving his take on the whole thing

@VicOladipo: All of these comments about @TomCrean not being a leader and having no discipline is crazy. Us former players wouldn't come back as often as[...]We do if that was the case @TomCrean is a great coach and human being. The players currently there just need to get there priorities right and realize they are playing for something way bigger than themselves

I feel like he spoke what he was feeling, influenced by this last week.  I don't care if you're a PR veteran, it would be tough to have an "acceptable" (to our fan base) statement.  It would either be too slick, too ambiguous, or too (insert criticism here).  All of a sudden, a spotlight is refocused on him, to speak for several negatives.  What do people want him to say?  He didn't throw anyone under the bus, accepted responsibility on behalf of the team, and offered promise of a change.  Just because he didn't sound like a politician doesn't mean it wasn't truthful.  For everyone jumping on the "actions over words" mantra, give them a chance to do so.
