Hoo's Next: Samford

On Friday night the Indiana Hoosiers welcome in the Samford Bulldogs. Samford plays out of the Southern Conference where last year, they had a mediocre finish at best. They finished 9-9 in conference and 11-21 overall.
Samford lost a lot of games on the road last year, which is a good sign for this young Hoosiers team that is looking to move to 3-0. The Hoosiers look to continue to build on a young season where expectations on getting to the NCAA tournament are next to an all time high. Good thing they're getting a warm up early on. Samford, like the Hoosiers are young and like to run. The Bulldogs are averaging 77 points per game early on this season and 22 three point field goals attempted a game. Numbers like that go hand in hand with IU's playing style. This could turn out to be quite the firework show on Friday night.

Samford has three players averaging double figures in the scoring department in their first two games. First is Raijon Kelly, a 6'4 Junior guard at 16 points per game, followed by Tim Williams a 6'8 Sophomore Forward at 14 points per game, and lastly Isaiah Williams a 6'1 Freshman Guard averaging 12.5 points per game. Samford brings a well balanced attack and a young squad. They have a little more size than LIU Brooklyn boasted but the Hoosiers should still be able to dominate inside and work their way out.

Tom Crean spoke to the media today about the Hoosiers defense "taking shortcuts" in their nail biting win versus LIU Brooklyn. So hopefully we see an improvement on that end of the court.

Tip is scheduled for 7pm inside Assembly Hall as the Indiana Hoosiers look to make it to 3-0 on this young 2013-14 season
