Transfer Portal w IU Interest

Take it for whatever you want but according to Jeff Rabjohns: IU was unable to gain traction with Ryan Conwell because Conwell felt Kanaan Carlyle was coming and Conwell would not have a chance to start. I know Ryan Conwell was desired and I get that completely. I do think there is a very real chance that Kanaan Carlyle, moved off the ball thanks to Myles Rice, is a better player in the Big Ten than Ryan Conwell would have been. At least some portion of Conwell's success/numbers have to be attributed to the very friendly system of Josh Schertz. Conwell is a really good player, I think Carlyle is as well. Rice and Carlyle (just waiting for it to become official) clearly like each other and wanted to play together. If getting Rice meant Carlyle was a bigger priority because of their desire to play together, I think it makes total sense. -

That’s part of my concern for Woody’s recruiting pitch. When you target bench guys you get bench guys with less talent. Let’s say he goes hard for TJ Power as a player with starter potential. Maybe he earns it, maybe he doesn’t. but when you are trying to recruit guys happy to be Bench guys you are severely capping your talent on the team. He needs to find a way to figure this out. -

Sorry if it's been discussed already but I've been out looking for fungi. You have to have your priorities in order. What's the scoop on Carlyle? Hoping for a bit of good news. Thanks in advance. -

We can wait it out another year. He will still have a year of eligibility left next year. He will be in the portal again. I feel like next year will be the year for IU and Conwell -

Mods, feel free to delete/apologies if this breaks any rules, but since this is the de facto politics thread, figured I'd share here: If like me, you find blanket terms like "far left" or "far right" etc. to be a lazy way of describing the political spectrum (in the US or anywhere else), and ultimately more harmful than helpful in the way of bipartisan collaboration (you know, what those ghouls in DC are supposed to actually be doing... finding ways to get **** done for all us Americans) you may find the Political Compass of moderate interest. It's been around since 2001 and is not specific to any country's political parties or elections, strictly about describing politics in more meaningful terms and pointing out the error of some common, but sloppy, political definitions. "Our essential point is that Left and Right, although far from obsolete, are essentially a measure of economics. As political establishments adopt either enthusiastically or reluctantly the prevailing economic orthodoxy — the neo-liberal strain of capitalism — the Left-Right division between mainstream parties becomes increasingly blurred. Instead, party differences tend to be more about identity issues. In the narrowing debate, our social scale is more crucial than ever. Nevertheless, the more nationalistic and authoritarian a party or individual is, the more ‘right-wing’ they’re still labelled. This, of course, is absurd. Taken to its logical conclusion, it means that the further left a country sits, the more socially liberal its attitudes are. on that basis, North Korea must be a shining model of human rights and social freedoms! Conversely, a country may be very right wing (ie libertarian) in its economics, and be authoritarian at the same time. Singapore is a perfect example." Brief instructions/explainer below + link to the very short "test" (there are no correct/incorrect answers, only called a test so as to not be confused with an election survey or personality quiz). Some are surprised by their results, others not so much. Before taking the test: Please note that this isn’t a survey, and these aren’t questions. They’re propositions. To question the logic of individual ones that irritate you is to miss the point. Some propositions are extreme, and some are moderate. That’s how we can show you whether you lean towards extremism or moderation on the Compass. Your responses should not be overthought. Some of them are intentionally vague. Their purpose is to trigger reactions in the mind, measuring feelings and prejudices rather than detailed opinions on policy. -

IMO, Rice and Carlyle were kind of shopping themselves as a pair because they wanted to play together. I think if you have the choice to get neither and shop for two others, you take both every time. I don't think Rice and Conwell or Carlyle and Conwell was ever an option. Rice and Carlyle are top 10 or top 15 guys in the portal. You take them and say THANK YOU. -

Style of play and lack of 3 point shooting is probably well talked about through the state over the last several years. Other than bigs and an occasional point guard, we really haven’t excelled . We have an Indiana high school disconnect, and I’m hoping it changes with Mullins and Sisney. -

IU recruiting is so weird right now. lol. Going to get 3 out of state top 10 or at least top 20 transfers and an out of state 5 star freshman but can’t land an in state shooter. Crazy you would have think that would be flipped -

Either way, it's a coaching problem. If you say they are not told to pass up the shot and they pass up the shot, you aren't doing a good job of coaching them. -

sometimes the cool thing about political commentary on a sports board is that it is not an echo chamber of the political views we gravitate towards. It can be healthy and yet I understand why folks tend to shy away from it. -

MYLES RICE (PG,6’3”) TO INDIANA
FightFor6 reacted to Uspshoosier for a post in a topic
Some want everyone to know they are not happy with Woodson as coach so they will bring it in every thread to let people know about it. Even though I did a poll and 87 people were not happy and only 8 said they were happy. I guess some want to let those 8 know they are not happy with the coach. Even in a Myles Rice commitment thread they try to find a way to get their point across -
