I think it's a false narrative that Rob has been good. A year and half into his career, he's a three assist per game point guard who is shooting under 40% overall and 32% from three who averages 7 points per game.

I haven't given up on Rob at all, he has shown flashes of being an excellent point guard with flashes to the basket at times. Not sure what is going on presently but maybe it is just confidence. He was out for several games and missed a lot of practice so hopefully going forward we will see him continue to develop.

If that's the case there'd better be shorter leashes for the player(s) responsible. Can't let that slide without repercussions.

Actually, here’s what we need to happen: Aminu’s brother’s name is Kabir. He’s a senior forward at Mo St. He’s just a guy. He has no professional prospects. Kabir is 6’6”, about 240, and a better than avg athlete. Parents down there have told me that they are pretty much joined at the hip. I think Jim Irsay needs to do Archie a solid and sign Kabir as a tight end conversion candidate for the Colts. They’ve already done it twice with Swoope and Cox. Of course, with the luck Miller’s had so far, Aminu would just end up at Butler.

Anderson has improved. He needs to start hitting shots (like everyone else), but he's more active on defense and rebounding.

If so Archie would get a ton of support from folks like me if he would bench or kick off players who are not bought in. Last year he had that chance and it was all talk. Bench em. I would rather send a message and lose than barely win or even worse lose with those that aren’t team players. Sure we want to win but if say the Crean recruits aren’t buying in then they don’t play at all. Archie talks as if he is going to do something but kids still seem to play a lot of minutes. Yeah, elite to me means bigten defensive player of the year or minimally all-defensive team and I don’t see him making any of those. Not saying his defense is bad, just not that elite. It’s been his offense that has been surprisingly suspect Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Really nice road win against a probable tourney team on road that shows this team is a legitimate Big Ten title contender. We blew this game last year but closed it out this year really well which shows where we are at. Instead of fighting to get in tourney which is a lock we are fighting to host games as a top 4 seeds.

We are already back to looking at the class 2 years ahead for hope. Bad bad sign.

Not to derail too much... but has anything been said about this? Did Al or the team address it? Claim it was an accident? Anything? I watched the game and it looked like he probably did it on purpose, your elbows don't usually raise that high making a spin/cut... but just curious as I never heard anything about it after the game.

Surprised no one mentions Durham in the convo. He was raw his freshmen year and you would have never thought he’d become a shooter. He’s a 3* and has improved very much. We’d have won the Arkansas if not for him being tossed. The best staff in the world couldn’t make Franklin, Green and Durham world beaters:). Pretty much all solid complimentary players. Franklin of course is only a freshmen, so we’ll need to wait to judge the staffs effort with him! Bottom line...Archie has to recruit better guards!!! Guys that can slash and play off the ball!! If he can’t recruit better guards then his tenure will be over soon! Here’s to hoping Leal, Geronimo and Galloway can change that! Pretty sure Geronimo is the most dynamic of the group. Damezi has really improved. He is one of the most consistent defenders on the team. My worry about Damezi has always been that he needs a lot of minutes to have an impact on offense. Meaning that he is a streaky shooter and he may need 2-3 attempts before he is able to get going. With that said, he has improved his three point shooting by 6% and has more makes than he did all of last year. And he has made 9-10 free throws on the year. He is really going to have to figure out a way to make shots with limited attempts.

If we would have stuck to our game plan against Arkansas we would have beat them. - hit our FTs - continued to get it inside - not turn it over - get back on defense Jackson-Davis had a bad night at the line 4-9 isn’t going to cut it. Phin can’t barely hit the rim on two technical foul shots. That’s too many wasted points. Our guards have shown a trend not to feed the post in the second half. We have to get better at this even if they’re packing the lane. The few entry passes we did make were terrible. Green attempted to turn it over twice on one possession before finally turning it over. That can’t happen from a senior captain. Durham can’t make a stupid mistake just because he’s frustrated. We could have used his ball habdling late in the game. Arky hit some deep or contested threes. There’s not much you can do about that. The good looks they got in transition were absolutely on poor decisions on offense. How many assists did Green have for Arky made threes? We’ve seen a trend of this and need to fix it. We’re not talented enough to go away from our strengths and win against good teams. This is on the coaching staff to get it through to the players. I’m sure we’ll lose more than a couple more games like this during conference play. Hopefully, it’s limited or a few players step up to hit outside shots. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

I don't doubt that we all want the same result. I think we can express those desires without being so angry at our coaches and team. Coach Miller, like him or not, is the only one with real skin in this game and he will succeed or he won't. Honestly, my life won't change much either way.

You arent gonna see development out of guys who are limited in ability. Thats why growth has pretty much been limited to Smith because he had raw talent.
  22. 1 point
I’m convinced Smith will never be a good shooter. He knocks down the mid range with surprising frequency. And Dunks. Layups, Free Throws, and 3 pointers are all rough. Because of this I feel like those mid range hits are just luck. Lol. He is more locked in this year and playing smarter. I’ll give him credit for that. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app

Semantics. He wasn't playing aggressively there. At IU he is.
  24. 1 point
FWIW, I would venture a guess that Butler fans would barely recognize the current version of Joey Brunk. He's currently about double his per minute career Butler rebounding average, and seems to be trending even better as the competition toughens.

Those two sports also don’t have the same type of continuity and consistency as basketball does. Baseball and football have way more variables to throw in compared to the NBA. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
