Sorry for those players, but I will not complain if we get wins in part because of injuries. Like I said, I don’t care how we get 6 just that we get there. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Yeah they have missed out on a ton of top targets in the 2020 class. Loveday, Burnett, Steward, Brakefield and Deivon Smith off the top of my head but there are some others as well. Recruiting can be fascinating. His first year he didn’t bring in any freshman class. In 2019 he knocked it out of the park with a killer class on paper and so far in 2020 has swung and miss. My guess he will end up bringing in a solid class but right now he has some fans in panic mode( shocking I know fans panicking before the early signing period has even started) Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

After dominating Rutgers last week, we head on the road to take on a Maryland team that looked like a top-10 team to start the season but has since cooled off. Maryland has struggled in recent weeks but still has plenty of talent to knock off anyone on any given Saturday. With dual-threat QB Tyrell Pigrome likely starting and their group of talented runningbacks, our defense will have to make sure we tackle and don't burned on the ground. Maryland does have the worst passing defense in the conference and was exposed by Purdue last week so they will have their hands full trying to slow down Penix and our talented receivers. Must remember that we are going on the road and life on the road in the Big Ten is never easy. We are currently a 5.5 point favorite and ESPN's Football Power Index gives us a 50.3% of winning on Saturday. Bill Connelly's SP+ metrics give us a 64% chance of winning. In terms of overall SP+ rankings: Maryland (3-3): Overall: 43 Offense: 56 Defense: 44 Special Teams: 125 Indiana (4-2): Overall: 25 Offense: 23 Defense: 32 Special Teams: 14

I saw a little bit of the Colorado game. And a little bit of the Northwestern game. Nebraska is on a bye week and has two weeks of prep to host IU in a packed house. That's a very big deal. The only like opponent the two teams have is OSU to where the scores were just about the same. Today, Nebraska's SOS is tougher than IU's, which might not mean anything in the grand scheme of things. In my opinion, this is going to be a very tough road game for the Hoosiers. They'll have a chance but I don't have them winning this game. I hope I'm wrong and I'll gladly eat crow for saying it.

Have you watched Nebraska this year? If you have, then that’s why people have them on their list.

found a link to the bbq at the bluebird. They are extending 'sales' until November 15th or they hit capacity. Jeff Newton, George Leach (obviously), Todd Leary, AJ Moye, Sherrod Wilkerson, John Laskowski all confirmed to be there. Staff feels "very good" that Tom Coverdale (among others that my mind is spacing on currently) will be there as well. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/hoosier-hysterics-homecoming-live-event-tickets-71431544673

Nebraska and Northwestern are two games of interest for me.

I'm counting a road game at Nebraska as a probable loss. Plus the Cornhuskers have an extra week to prepare for the Hoosiers. Not sure why folks have them on their list. My list of 2-3 teams that IU has a solid competitive chance at winning is Maryland, Northwestern and Purdue.

I think this is missing one: Lounge. I thought Louisville played its games at "Trixie's Lounge."

Don't care how we do it as long as we get 6. Anything beyond that is gravy.

Agree. The stars are kinda aligned for Allen. Many winnable games with the exception of Penn St IMO.

Great post IMO! (a paragraph break or two would help it’s readability, but a great take in the team’s potential)

We always think we are “deep and have a flexible roster” in the preseason, then realize by B1G season we have 3 guys that are B1G level. I’m not sold on Race, Damezi, Justin Smith. I’m not sold on Brunk’s athleticism vs B1G bigs. Same for DeRon. Al D and Devonte are streaky shooters. Phinisee as a shooter?? Can Jerome stay healthy? Unfortunately this is why most rate us as 9th or 10th in the B1G. Time for some guys to step and exceed expectations as individuals and as a team. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Disagree: After he was suspended last year, for a relatively extended stretch he was exactly what people are hoping he will continue to be. Coupled with him being named a team captain and Archie singing his praises in the pre-season, it is far from certain that he will continue to be a real net positive, but it is also a reasonable conclusion that he will do so.

    Music Thread

Happy 68th Birthday to my favorite rocker and one of the great Hoosier fans: John Mellencamp. "Scarecrow" came out in the summer before my senior year in high school. As soon as I heard "Lonely Old Night" on the radio, I ran out (well, actually drove out) to the record store to get a cassette (yes, that was just before CDs). I played it so much that it wore out and I had to get another. Love this ditty, "Minutes to Memories." Reminds me a little of my pop, who passed away a little more than two years ago. I can just picture him as the 77-year-old on the bus, saying "Suck it up and tough it out and be the best you can." Happy Birthday, John -- and thanks for all the great music!

With HH behind us and the the ramp up to the season officially underway, one of my thoughts is that we need to appreciate TJD while we have him. Kids with his mindset, attitude, and appreciation for the program don't come along very often. The dunk with the 40 Jersey was really a nice touch and link between the past and present.

TJD wins the dunk contest, asks for a bonus dunk. Walks over to Calbert, puts on a #40 jersey and throws one down! Love this kid Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

    And Your Team Captains Are:

This was not a coach decision. The players voted. I'm all for it. Frankly I'm more surprised by Al than Devonte, I'd never really pegged him as a leader. Devonte is a senior guard, and highest returning scorer. Exactly what we need. Whatever attitude he has is an asset. Most successful people have an edge. I know we Hoosiers love us some humility and all, but this team needs a little F-U swagger. As far as Archie believing in him, he always has. Remember Archie was intrigued by Green's play and attitude from the beginning. And his comments just a couple days ago showed that he intends to give Devonte more slack this year and just accept some bad with the good. In my opinion, this shows growth by Archie as well. My own diagnosis of the extremely poor shooting (like 311th? Last in the B1G?) was that the whole team had the yips. Archie was maybe uptight with all the expectations, and it rubbed off on the team. If a guy had an open 3, he still didnt want to take the shot. Btw, Devonte posted this last night.
