Garcia tweeted today that he's cutting his list soon so at the very least we'll know if we're still in the hunt or not.

The Panthers come into Memorial Stadium this Saturday for the Hoosiers home opener. Eastern Illinois is coming off of a loss to Chattanooga last weekend. ESPN's Football Power Index gives the Hoosiers a 98.5% chance of victory. Plain and simple, this is a game where the Hoosiers should dominate every aspect of the game unless they get caught looking to the Ohio St. match up coming up next week. Let's just hope we can avoid injuries while getting some more experience for Penix and our defense (aka work on tackling).

@jakeweingarten: 2021 prospect Javonte Brown-Ferguson will have the following schools see him during live period (confirmed): UConn, Texas A&M, Indiana, Kansas, Marquette, Western Kentucky. He told @stockrisers that Kansas and Texas A&M will get home visits ‘for sure’ Seton Hall involved also.

    (2020) PG - Andre Curbelo

Not the good vibes I got from Galloway, Leal, and Geronimo. Starting guard spot isn’t likely. Good minutes early on could be questionable also. We’ll see. Otherwise fairly good thoughts and comments. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Seems to have some Devonte Green style recklessness with ball security. Some of those passes and ball handling moves will look silly vs a BIG defender. Could be why Archie has waited a bit longer to offer.

Joby Wright - A Look Back

Joby Wright was a part of arguably the most talented front line in IU history during the 1970-71 season: George McGinnis and Joby Wright at forwards and Steve Downing at center. Coach Lou Watson couldn't handle all that talent and the team under-achieved resulting in Watson's dismissal and the hiring of Bobby Knight. In two seasons, Knight took IU to the Final Four, though without McGinnis who signed with the Pacers after one season at IU (leading the Big Ten in both scoring and rebounding) and Joby Wright who played for Knight for just one season before graduating. In those days, freshman were ineligible to play varsity. Otherwise, Joby Wright's statistics would be even better. Wright was a high school All American out of Savannah, Georgia--athletic and smooth. IU landed another All American from Wright's high school--6'4" guard Ed Daniels. But Daniels transferred after Knight was hired. I don't know how Lou Watson was able to bring two high school All Americans from Georgia to Bloomington, Indiana. If Knight had been able to coach all three--McGinnis, Wright, and Downing at once, he might have won his first national championship before the 1975-76 undefeated team.

Corey Evans - Indiana solidified its wing core with Jordan Geronimo and I couldn’t be more excited to see what Archie Miller can do with him. Geronimo is just the type that is going to flourish under the watch of Miller and should be a catalyst for getting the Hoosiers back into gear.

I love that: 1) Archie’s sales pitch to Jordan was that he can begin his time at IU as someone who can give strong defensive minutes off the bench, and can eventually earn more and more minutes, and that 2) Our new four star recruit thinks this is a GREAT idea.

Wouldn't ordinarily start a thread just because it's his birthday, but this is a nice story about Joby and his post-IU career. https://indianahq.com/joby-wright/

Sure seems like we want a five player class. Three wings, one big, one point guard.

We can now be EXTREMELY choosy. For me, that means Love, Garcia, or Whitt, or in lieu of one of them, a post-season big transfer that would sit one year to play two or three. That allows us to stay old, and to get a player in the program who will be completely immersed by the time he takes the court. It also gives us a year with likely bigs as a senior Justin Smith, a junior Race Thompson, a sophomore TJD, and a senior Brunk. That is more than enough size. I think y'all are largely sleeping on Race Thompson's ability to contribute.

Only thing I worry about is going all in one one recruit and missing like we did with Brooks. We need a big guy so unless there was writing on the wall with IU not getting a chance with Loveday, I just hate putting all our chips in only one basket. Still love our class so far, and curious if Archie will try to get one to redshirt since we have 3 wing type players in this one class. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Joby Wright - A Look Back

The first time I saw Joby Wright in person was at Bob Knight's basketball camp in '85. That dude was massive and intimidating. He commanded attention and respect. We need more Joby Wright's. At a young age, they were recruiting Chris Lawson who was in 8th grade at that time. Those camps were a big part of my childhood and I think they are greatly missed in these modern times.

I think this is what I’m most excited about with the 2020 class. These kids seem to be basketball junkies with an edge. I could be completely wrong but they seem to be the type where you tell them they can’t do something and they’ll fight to prove you wrong. This could be the class that pushes the upperclassmen (Durham, Smith, Anderson) everyday to get better then they take over for them with some experience. The attitude and effort seem to be a focal point in this class. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app

Louisville Magic. Not sure Mack had to use much magic on a kid that was close enough to campus during the summer to take multiple unofficial visits. Mack seemed to prioritize him back in June and offered while he was a top 50 recruit and has kept prioritizing him even with his slide in rankings. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

(2020) SF Jordan Geronimo to Maryland

THIS I know you still have a year, but what should Indiana fans expect out of you? What are you hoping to bring to the program? “A whole lot of energy on the defensive and offensive end. First and foremost, I’m a defensive player. I love shutting people down. I love blocking shots, getting steals and doing other stuff to get a stop on the possession. People best believe in a game I will bring the defensive energy. My opponents will know I’m on the floor.”
