Heard CAM is making the players room with different teammates each week throughout the summer as well as going on a retreat with no cell phones to build up the chemistry. This was music to my ears when I heard this...this could’ve been huge had this been done last summer....I’m assuming tho this is a result of the mess from last year. Why this obsession with a former IU player? Many are not qualified to do what some of you want. If you want recruiting, who has the pedigree of all the former IU players mentioned to bring in top 50 guys? Many kids nowadays will point to Romeo over guys like Guyton, Jeffries, etc. as former IU players they know. If you say they know the state, that may be true, but we’ve had zero issue recruiting our own state. As far as player development, which former IU player has any sort of pedigree developing players and getting the maximum out of them? I think some IU fans have this disillusioned belief that former IU players coming back will somehow magically turn our program around, even when they don’t have the pedigree. Give me a guy that has out of state connections that is an ace recruiter, or someone that has a history of developing players. We don’t need a former IU player and it’s likely we will not go that route.

I was listening to an IU podcast (Assembly Call) and one of the guest hosts was Galen Clavio from the CrimsonCast… they mention Galen’s YouTube channel that contains video of old Hoosier basketball games, Hoosier football, and some IUBB Senior Night speeches (and a bit of non-IU content) … definitely worth your time to dig through his video library... https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwyoEBP715uxHe2tYn9GioA/videos

Nice to see he had offers from Purdue, UM and Iowa. Always good to have 6’2” receivers and land some of the better in-state kids.

Shannon has won over 600 games as HC. Known to be excellent X&O guy. Well respected throughout the coaching fraternity. Well liked by players. Why not? Recruiting questions outside of Indiana but no doors closed in-state.

    19/20 Squad = Class Balance

The problem is that certain people ALWAYS see giant red flags everywhere, whether or not they actually exist. Kind of like how to a guy with a hammer everything looks like a nail. Or perhaps the allegory of the boy who cried wolf is more apropos. Either way, the change you were clamoring for occurred and now, less than two years in, you are already clamoring for change again. Why should anyone expect it to be any different this time if/when the change you are clamoring for again occurs? There is nothing wrong with having expectations but there is something wrong with constantly throwing tantrums when the expectations are not met especially when you never seem to evaluate whether or not the expectations are valid as thoroughly as you evaluate those that failed to meet them. There's a difference between having expectations and being entitled.

Patience can lead to success. Frequently throwing tantrums and demanding changes, on the other hand, is more likely to impede success than lead to it.

IU doesn't deserve to be a 2019-20 pre-season top team based on its performance last season and the fact that the top two players are gone. That said, this team has the potential to surprise assuming key players stay healthy and certain players take a step forward in development.

Actually what doesn’t matter is recruiting in general. Results on the court matter. Success recruiting tends to lead to that. Whiff on like 6 straight guards isn’t really success sadly. Which makes results on the court harder

Agree completely. Hunter, while seemingly talented, will be a RS freshmen coming off a serious condition, Damezi was completely lost last year, and in two years Smith hasn’t any ability to play the wing. I’m not sure why people think Smith can play the wing, unless he improves dramatically, which is possible I guess. The wing is the position that worries me most.

I'd like to see one more reliable wing/shooter. I just don't trust Smith in that role, Anderson has a long way to go; and Hunter is an unknown, although I'd bet on him. Perhaps Franklin can give minutes at the 3, but I don't see any of the other guards doing so. I see a bunch of lineups where we go "very big" or "very small." We don't really have many mid sized cars, do we?
