I'm with you here. Really stunned to see him back, at this point we just hope he figures it all out, starting with better overall effort.

Former McDAA Jordan Brown transfers to Arizona. Amazing what Arizona can do despite being smack dab in the oven of NCAA/FBI heat. College basketball and Indiana basketball administration. Both make me SMDH in disgust. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

He camped this past weekend. Asked my buddy who was at the camp and he was supposedly one of the fastest timed kids there in most drills. Ran a 4.4 forty. Seems to be a hidden gem. Looks to have great length. Shows he’s not afraid to hit in his film or at least get into contact situations. If Shelby believes he is worthy of an offer. Then let’s go boys. #6 on the board with officials coming up the next three weekends get the cannons ready.

I think you are exactly right. Sitting a year wasn't in their plans. Give IU one more year and if it doesn't work move on. Hope it works out.

Today in "That'll teach you", Lamont Evans was sentenced to a THREE month prison sentence. However, he still stands the chance of being deported to a tropical island(Evans is a Barbados citizen). https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/26921190/lamont-evans-sentenced-deported

After all the B$Ming from Justin Smith and his father I’m a little shocked they didn’t make a move. I’m sure the sit a year thing weighs in. I bet he’s set to graduate this year and will grad transfer if this year isn’t what he hopes. To me he was our biggest disappointment by a landslide. Romeo didn’t have the season we hoped but he was serviceable. I think Romeo hurt chemistry a bit just by being Romeo and the attention he attracted. But Smith save for 2 or 3 games was a really bad player. Bad shooting from all 3 levels but the free throw adventures told me the most. I don’t know what is going on with him. He’s smart, yet he made awful decisions regularly. I’m rooting for him because IF he figures it out he would be fun player to watch but I have no idea how Archie fixes it. Decision making, instincts, shot making on all levels, and heck even defensive ability which should be his real calling card. Wishing and praying. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Only other offer was from Jackson State. He is from a small town in Mississippi so that may have something to do with it. Hoping we just found a diamond in the rough!

Name an offer that Archie has given which seemed like a huge stretch. The fact that Jake didn't pan out doesn't mean he was a stretch offer. Yes, not every guy that comes to Indiana is going to work out as hoped, but if Archie continues to target and attract the types of guys he's gotten so far, he'll be successful overall. No coach is batting 1.000 in recruiting. Jake was always going to be a longer term project, and he didn't want to stick around and wait. That's not a shot at him, he's welcome to do whatever he thinks is best for himself, but I don't think he was much worse than expected his freshman year. I expected him to be the last guy off the bench. But he had offers from 21 schools, including Miami, Seton Hall, Xavier, Virginia Tech, etc., and was a top 150 player. He was an in-demand player. Similarly, Damezi may have had a bad freshman year, but he was a fringe top-100 guy. Nobody said that he couldn't play coming out of high school. Maybe it's Archie's fault that he didn't develop, maybe it's Damezi's, maybe he just needs more time, but he was being recruited by high major schools too. Judging recruiting success by how guys perform their freshmen years is not a good way to do it. Hopefully Damezi turns it around. Maybe he ends up a complete bust, but plenty of guys have gone from inconsequential freshman years to being valuable players.

Shouldn’t be a problem for the Fightin’ Holtmanns, with him being the reincarnation of James Naismith himself and all. Should plow through that stretch undefeated. NCAA will probably give him a few extra wins just for being the savior of basketball. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Definitely a mismatch for us. He's had 59 attempts thus far in his AAU season and only made 95%. lol

From Endlessmotor.net following the latest Nike event - Steward absolutely dominated in Indianapolis. D.J. was lethal beyond the arch, knocking down pull-up threes on numerous occasions with some coming from 30 feet away. Steward also did a great job hitting midrange jumpers off the bounce after coming off the high-ball screen where he displayed great elevation and balance on his jumper. The Chicago-area native also excelled as a shot creator getting to the paint. DJ showed solid acceleration with the ball and utilized change of direction dribbles to keep his defender off balance. As a finisher he did a great job of getting into the chest of the defender to create space before converting floaters off the backboard. For the weekend Steward averaged nearly 31 points while pulling down 5.5 rebounds and dishing out 2.8 assists per game on better than 51% from the field.

    Recruiting.

I don't like to comment as much as I used to because things on here can be pretty toxic, but I do have an observation directed to some a people. It doesn't make much sense to me when you say that you want us to adopt a model of building talent over the course of three or four years and then completely write off a player after his freshman year.

That I do not know... if so, I would expect Indiana to be more than in the mix.
