Chris Mack went 20-14 last season. Holtmann went 20-15 and 8-12 in the conference last year. Archie went 19-16 and 8-12 in the conference last year. Archie/IU struggled but let's not act like Mack and Holtmann killed it last year either. If Holtmann went 20-15 here last year and 8-12 in conference, after going 25-9 and 15-3 in his first season, the people complaining about Archie would be complaining about how Holtmann can't get it done with his own players. We have three guys coming in who fill important needs and, more importantly, want to be Hoosiers. Let's wait and see what happens next year before declaring the program dead in the water.

Depends on the reason they're crying. Or (in most cases) moping. Or whatever you want to call the 'woe is me' outlook around here. Opinions most certainly can come across in a whining fashion. My opinion (a grumpy one, evidently): Too many people can't handle the long play. Also my opinion: Yes, this season had better show some promise. Let's just see what happens. More has been done with less, and less has been done with more. I'm not normally so forward and snarky, sorry. (But I'm not entirely sorry.) Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

If we have 10 guys getting rotation and are engaged in each game that is a good thing. So some of you want 2 guys at the end of the bench not engaged and thinking about which schools to transfer to the following year? If a team is playing 11-12 guys a night that tells you 3-4 of them aren't producing.

It's been said in here before that Holtmann was on record as all but saying the Indiana job was too big for him. If true? Good. Go coach at a pretend basketball school one state over. Who knows. Maybe Indiana inquired to Mack and he either said, "Thanks, but no thanks" or wasn't interested in a change at the time. While either would have been a good hire theoretically, neither was a fit. Moving on: No. Indiana is not the only program with good things not happening. There are also not bad things happening. It doesn't matter how hard "we" cry, no one will cry with us. So let's stop crying. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

I don't regret that Romeo played his one season at IU. I'm just disappointed he got hurt and didn't have more of an impact season -- although 16.5 points a game ain't all that bad. But I have a feeling (call me crazy if you will -- many people have), that the team's chemistry will be better without him. I think there's something to what Seth Greenberg was saying about having one one-and-done. I think having Romeo -- while on the surface, should've been a big bonus -- was a huge detriment to chemistry. Even before the rumors about him and other players' girlfriends, I think some of the older dudes really resented him and the attention he got. That's their problem -- not his -- but regardless, it was there. I don't know that we'll be any better on the court, but I have a feeling the chemistry will improve.

I saw some benchings and no starts for second halves so let’s not act like there was zero consequences. Was there enough of it? I’d probably have done things differently but I’m also not a college coach for a reason. I will say this though... if you can’t get fired up to play college ball you probably shouldn’t be playing college ball. If you can’t get fired up to play at Indiana University you should probably be playing elsewhere. Hopefully, those issues along with some maturity have been dealt with. Time will tell, as will Archie’s job security. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

I don’t think he’d get a total pass because he would only have 10 scholarship players. That’s not on me to decide what others should think just my thoughts. For me personally, I need to see where this is headed this upcoming season to continue to support him. There are plenty of things I like and things I think he sees that need to be corrected but this season they need to be corrected. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

We would have to get rid of Assembly Hall to move up, and that's not going to happen. It's very excusable if you look at it that way. Assembly Hall gets replaced with the Kohl Center, we're probably #1, but I don't want that and I don't believe you do, either. It's not as simple in this case as saying "we're #6 in facilities." True, our home arena is outdated in some ways, but it's iconic in others and when full and loud, the best home court advantage in the country. Kansas and Duke also have bad facilities by this measure and North Carolina does not. Why? New arena. But UNC does not have the home court advantage it once did.
