Okay, so I have THIS too. I have 3 sons and this is my youngest (13). Not his best angle, but he is a huge Indy 500 fan. He can name all 103 winners in order. Yes...he has met Donald Davidson and listens to his show. He pulled Pagenaud in a pre-race pool and won $200. So THIS is what raw genuine-ness looks like. THIS is passion for something. THIS is a kid in his element. I spent the last mile or so watching HIM...not the cars, with this result. Funny. He probably thinks that will be one of the best memories of HIS life.

I SO agree with that. Here it is.....not my film, but I sit in Turn 4, and it was absolutely awesome. I'm so glad someone else thought it was as cool as I did.

While I agree with the premise of your statement. The reality is, it’s hasn't been level playing field in decades. Look at UCLA 60 years ago. To me it’s about leveling the playing field as much as you can within your own house. Get the compliance office to help find the loopholes. See Romeo’s dad getting paid by Adidas. Purely within the rules. See Jim Harbaugh taking his team to Rome, Paris, now South Africa on the dime of a single donor. NCAA can’t say crap bc it’s educational. All kinds of ways to stay within the rules and make IU basketball on more equal footing. Look at Vanderbilt. They are hiring all kinds of support staff, like football programs. They even have a head coaching consultant (or something close to it). IU isn’t spending like that. We are still steps behind others in things that are legal.

Agreed that just because a coach is starting mid-major does not mean that they're inferior. Most top coaches were mid-major coaches at one point. But the elite guys that stay at that level, like Few, Stevens, and Marshall, are/were mid-major coaches by choice, turning down top level jobs. That's not the case with Davis. Teams with big budgets and great facilities aren't interested in him. The idea that Davis's career has a better trajectory than Crean's is crazy. Davis is doing a good job at a small school. Crean just brought in a top 10 recruiting class and the #1 recruit. Who knows if he will be able to maintain the success as inconsistency was always the problem at IU, but his ceiling is much higher. I hope both guys do well. They unfortunately couldn't cut it at IU, but they seem like good guys Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Haha They’re hoping it goes away quickly after all the FBI stuff is now completed. It’ll be interesting to see if the spots media brings it up much. I highly doubt much will be done besides a school or two being “hammered” and the rest of the cheating bastards get the wink wink nod nod from the ncaa. Maybe the timing wasn't the best on that, but the Stanley Cup actually is the best trophy in sports. ... And I was born and raised in Indiana, graduated from IU and have watched the Indy 500 for 45-plus years.

    (2020) PG R.J. Davis

The recruiting process is still heating up for RJ Davis. This time last year, just a handful of power conference programs littered Davis’ recruitment; now, over 20 high-majors are involved with no end in sight. Davis told Rivals.com that he doesn’t plan on committing until next year and would like to take a handful of visits before then. Who could host him include Georgetown, Indiana, Marquette, Penn State and Pitt, though no dates have been set at the time being. Corey Evans Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

    IU Track and Field

Nine More Hoosiers Are Headed to Austin After Final Day of NCAA East Prelims It was a big day for Indiana Track & Field as nine more advanced to Austin, Texas for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Jyles Etienne, Eric Bethea, Teddy Browning, Kenneth Hagen, Joe Murphy, Kyle Mau, Khayla Dawson Maddy Pollard, and Leah Moran will all compete in the national meet. Leah Moran was the first Hoosier to qualify as she jumped a distance of 13.04m (42" 9.5"). The junior's mark is a new program record and also a personal record. On the men's side, Khayla Dawson and Maddy Pollard kept it going on the women's side as they both advanced in the shot put. Dawson threw a mark of 16.65m (54' 7.5") while Pollard notched a mark of 16.35m (53' 7.75"). Jyles Etienne kicked it off for the Hoosiers in the men's field as he grabbed the 10th qualifying spot in the high jump with a height of 2.19m (7' 2.25"). Eric Bethea will make the trip to Austin, Texas in the triple jump after hitting a mark of 15.76m (51' 8.5"). It was an exciting day on the oval as Indiana qualified three in the 1500m. Joe Murphy led the way by clocking a season best time of 3:44.33 while Teddy Browning finished right behind him in a time of 3:44.59. Rounding out the trio was Kenneth Hagen who notched a time of 3:49.97. Kyle Mau capped off a successful day having the best qualifying time in the 5000m. The redshirt junior raced to a time of 14:00.41. Up next, the Hoosiers will see action at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The meet is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, June 5 and wrap up on Saturday, June 7.

(2020) PF Matt Cross to Miami

Little optimism for the summer: Cross is scheduled for an official visit to Bloomington next week. He’s looking to sign and commit before his high school season. We’re rumored to be the leader. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

That’s exactly the attitude that has caused us to have one or two successful seasons ( by our standards ) in the last 20 years. I’m not related to the kid and I’m not really close to them. Didn’t know them before they moved to Blackford. I do only post here because it’s the only topic that interests me and I also believe this is where you should post ABOUT Luke brown or at least that’s the title of the page. Don’t worry I won’t do it on others. His play IS doing the talking. The problem is our recruiting mentality ( fans and staff ). Go back to the threads for watford. Most people thought his dad was basically calling him a Hoosier. He’s a super talented kid I don’t blame us for wanting him but look at the decision to go to LSU. I don’t know you, but if you were a stud athlete , and got an offer from a place that literally is in the middle of a pay for play scandal ( with audio evidence ) would you really go play there ? If you aren’t being paid ?...would your parents be ok with you going there knowing how that could effect your reputation ? I don’t know the watfords but to me that’s an example of a “ non- program kid” a kid that wants what’s best for him ...a kid that wants to promote himself and get to the next level as fast and best he can. Do i blame someone for that ? Absolutely not, good for them and handle their business how they see fit, but is that the type we should be fighting and wasting resources for recruiting on ? Absolutely not ...they don’t end up helping the program long term and they often don’t even make a huge impact short term. until the mentality changes and we build like the Wisconsin’s and Purdue’s and Notre dames of the world, taking 3-4 year program guys while occasionally stealing an Indiana five star player for talent to push ya over the top, we are gonna be stuck in limbo. If Luke doesn’t grow anymore it will be tough for him to play power 5 defense and if that’s the case it will be a shame but even in that instance my point was he is the type of kid you want. Someone that WANTS to come to your school , not someone that you have to beg or consider paying. Someone that wants to put in the work and hates losing more than anything in the world. Someone willing to literally bleed to improve the program. If he doesn’t grow, he may not work , but I still want kids LIKE him. Let the guys who pay players get the guys who have their hearts 50% in it. If Luke does grow you’ll look me up and tell me I was right.

I don't think there's an argument for Devonte being a better all around player.. His brother was a 5 star, top 20 recruit while Devonte was a 3 star. His brother averaged 11.5/4.9 as a junior for a Final Four team and then 13.1/4.7 as a senior on a national championship team. I like Devonte, but he's putting up worse numbers on worse efficiency on a much worse team.. Anything can happen next year, though.
