I noticed no one posted this, so I wanted to share. I'm fully on board that Deron Davis is committed to remaining a Hoosier next year and leave on a high note. This interview, much like an interview I posted earlier in the season (after the first Michigan State game), makes me excited to see Deron finally play a full and healthy season next year. He WANTS to be the leader, and I think he will be. For as tough of a path as he has had, he has always carried himself with a mental toughness and a humor to get through it all. I hope his summer goes as well as he plans and he comes back as a dominant (and healthy) force inside for Indiana next year. He also mentions why he wasn't in the game during the second half...yet another setback, although this time it seems to be minor.

    Academic All-Big Ten

Check this out from iuhoosiers.com. Five Hoosiers named Academic All-Big Ten. Justin and Zach are often mentioned in conversations on this site, sometimes not in a positive way, but there is nothing more impressive than this, juggling an athletes schedule and school work. Vijay, Johnny and Quentin may not get the accolades as others on the team, but they put in the time as well, challenging, competing and making the team better.Congratulations to these fine young men. Men's Basketball 3/20/2019 2:59:00 PM Five Men’s Basketball Players Named Academic All-Big Ten Story Links ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Big Ten Conference recognized a total of 928 students competing in winter sports who have been named to the Academic All-Conference team Wednesday. Included in that total was five members of the Indiana men's basketball team. The men's basketball honorees are Vijay Blackmon, Johnny Jager, Zach McRoberts, Justin Smith and Quentin Taylor. To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, students must be on a varsity team, as verified by being on the official squad list as of March 1 for winter sports, who have been enrolled fulltime at the institution for a minimum of 12 months and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher. The conference office also awards Academic All-Big Ten distinction in the fall and spring seasons and will present the Distinguished Scholar Award at the end of the academic year. To be eligible for selection, students must be a recipient of Academic All-Big Ten Recognition in the previous academic year, must be enrolled for the entire previous academic year (two semesters or three quarters) and earned a minimum GPA of 3.7 or higher during that time. This GPA shall be calculated based on the previous academic year only, excluding summer. The Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Award was established by conference Faculty Representatives as an addition to the conference's Academic All-Big Ten program.

Exactly right. I mean at University of No Classes you can get a 6.0 on a 4.0 scale without ever going to a class or doing any actual work on your own.

As long as we still have games and he's still part of this team, he should be playing.

We’re 33 games into the season and just hoping the team gives effort for a full 40 minutes. I think all the players, managers, coaching staff, support staff, AD, president, and the BoT should run until this changes. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app

I would think that without their middle guy, Morgan and Davis should get 75% of the touches before a shot even goes up. A rim protector kind of guy seems to be our achilles heel. He's not there. Go after it now!

He said last night on Twitter that those rumors are false. He will be at UK next year. Now that some of teams seasons ending last night we might hear of some other kids transferring that we might have interest in. Some Indiana kids but we'll see

Should definitely be four quarters. Makes much more sense than halves. Only a matter of time

Falzon kept us out of the tournament (among many other things), that hurts to think about

If a school can decline, I have no problem with a kid (that will not be there for much longer) declining. The NIT is meaningless. Happy to watch IU play more games, but I'd rather see guys that are going to be back next year. Additional practice time and development for the younger guys is the only meaningful byproduct. I have zero problem with a senior (Taylor) getting a bunch of minutes in the NIT If Durham, Green, and Phin get in foul trouble or foul out. Don't forget we have a kid with moves like Jager.

Agree to disagree. NIT is like a bad CFB bowl. It has more value as increased practice time for next year, then anything else. Winning without him would mean more than winning with him (from a team perspective).. And for him to risk injury is silly if he's a lottery pick.

I agree Old Friend took it a step too far there. Old Friend, you've stated your position time after time. Everyone knows how you feel. There might be some that disagree with you. You need to learn to deal with it. Repeating yourself, and trashing this kid, won't make people suddenly agree with you.
