Haven’t been on here in awhile with a family death, other serious family illness and the arrival of my 3rd grand baby. This board has gone crazy. Gotta give Coach Miller 2 or 3 more years to get this ship righted. I know it’s painful to watch at times, but I still have faith he will get it done. He don’t actually shoot the ball for them. Ok guys, back from the ledge. It's not as bad as it looks. Lots of problems, but fixable over time. But it will take time. Before the Romeo get, did anyone think we'd be competitive this year. My observations from being at the game, up close. We are small. As in boys vs. men small. As mentioned above, Morgan isn't a "big." He's got no butt. Every other spot, we gave up 5-20 lbs. per man. Granted, a young team. But they need to get their man muscles going. Catching the ball is a problem. It's a combination of bad passes and "weak" hand strength (see above). Archie cares. You can see it on his face, in his body language. He's as frustrated as anyone. Coach Jesus could't win with this team. Everyone says, sit this guy, play that guy. But every player is woefully one dimensional. So you need to pick you poison. We can't shoot. We can't shoot. We can't shoot. (nothing you all haven't talked about all year) We have professional college basketball players throwing up air balls. When you can't shoot, the defense can sag a step without penalty. The kids you have that can drive, can't because the defense is down already. We need to go out and get a shooter or two (even is they lack some defense/athleticism). The defense has been "fixed." Look back at the Crean threads and the complete lack of defense. We'll that has been fixed (save for a key lapse here an there). Holding teams in the 50s and 60s. They are playing tough, respectable, defense. Problem is basketball is an offensive game and we have none. Team lacks leadership and identity. Is this an Archie team or a Crean team? Who is the leader -- Morgan (Crean guy, graduating), Romeo (Archie guy, going pro), or ? There where times when they just gave the ball to Romeo and said "go to it." Was not all that successful. Maybe Rob needs to step up and start leading the team, realizing both Morgan and Romeo will be gone. Need to start setting the tone for next year and following. We need to build a base before we go after "one and done" players. We need guys who will be around 3-4 years before going pro. Recruiting wise, it's an "easy" sell. Basically any skilled freshmen can come in and start. 2 starters are gone and 2 are up for grabs. Anyway, I am just rambling now.

The day that grown adults stop tweeting dumb crap at recruits is the day things will really turn the corner toward perfection.

Holtman is a solid coach and I think he would have done well at IU. A few observations from that, he wasn't interested and he walked into a different situation at O$U. As we saw last season, we're seeing a square peg being jammed into a round hole. Crean and Archie are different coaches and that will take time. Holtman's style is close to what Matta ran so the change isn't as drastic. Smith fits in perfectly with Crean's style of play and philosophy. I don't think he fits into Archie's system and style. I honestly believe that at under 6', athletically challenged, and a terrible back I could get into Smith's head enough that he would quit playing in a pick up game. That's a perfect Crean player. Run fast, jump higher, and play fast but soft, doesn't understand the GAME of basketball, and isn't mentally strong. That's not Archie's style and he's struggling to get through it. I think with time and the right players we'll see a different result.

Fighting among ourselves does no good. We're all pissed and we should be. Let's take a step back from the ledge and let this play out. I am amazed how bad this season has gotten and sadly alot of room for it to get worse. Sent from my SM-G920V using BtownBanners mobile app

So what is the administration supposed to do? Offer up! Fire CAM? Then who you going to get? Who in their right mind would want to come in somewhere and get less than 2 seasons before getting the possible axe if things aren't going the way that fans want. Seriously dude lol

That can either be used as a time to crumble or a time for someone to step up and lead. If there was indeed an altercation, I hope it included players being pissed at some of the selfish and ridiculously brainless things that seem to happen game after game.

Crean player, Crean player, Crean player, .......I agree that the two coaches run vastly different defensive systems and would not recruit similar players (at this point I’m not prepared to say Archie has an offensive system) but the “dreaded godawful Crean players” went 9-9 in conference last year. This team is going to do worse. Morgan, Al and De’Ron do not play “fast but soft” as all the Creanies are lumped together. At some point isn’t it Archie’s job to teach them something? Reducing the time spent doing the weave is the only adjustment I have seen. Trotting the same five out to start the second half was dumb and was Archie’s decision, not the Crean players decision, It was Archie’s poor decision to have De Ron ride the pine at the end of the game, when Romeo and Morgan don’t see the ball for the first five minutes of the game it is Archie that does not call a time out to tell the guys to get them the ball or else, etc., etc. The issues are far beyond “Crean players”.

We need talent that understands what the expectations are and fit. I really hope these kids are just as pissed as most on here that the program isn't getting it done. If we have more recruits that just come in and "go with the flow" then things won't change.
