Loved the fight the Hoosiers showed in this game (just a fun back and forth battle all game). I’ve been critical of Justin Smith this season because I expected him to be a major contributor, but he played a good game. I feel he is the missing piece to elevating this team right now. If he can turn it on, we may have a top 2 or 3 trio of any team in the country with Juwan and Romeo. Team still needs to grow a lot on offense, but love the fight in this team. I think it’s significant but not the way you guys probably do. After that game is when this team went on a run, and likely it came from a coach letting them hang and going for the win. Could it bite them? Yes. But I’m glad he did it. Also I’m perfectly content with losing out and missing the playoffs. I’d rather win but losing isn’t a killer right now. We don’t have a super bowl team this season so I’d rather get a better pick and continue to build this team. Mark my words. This team is going to be elite very soon

Carsen is legit. Don't see the hate on him. He has to shoot that much because they have nothing around him...hence more turnovers. Eastern is a bust so far. I think Haarms is nothing more than a role player. Future not looking good in West Lafayette. Painter couldn't get past the Sweet 16 with that "great" senior class and Swanigan the last few years. If they miss the NCAA's this year he could be on the hot seat going into next season. Archie stealing the in-state kids is hurting him. Hunter, Gillis, and Thompson are probably role players at IU (like Damezi or Jake). PU is expecting them to get major minutes from day 1. I think stealing Rob from them was huge and isn't talked about enough. He is left with the scraps except for Newman. I think he could be really good.

Seems like IU is in great position right now (anything can happen), but getting Trace you would think puts us in the driver’s seat. I'll tell my Moye story. I was at Nicks (go figure) sometime between 03' and '05, and Moye was there. I was just drunk enough to ask him some questions, and he was apparently in a state to answer them. I asked him what he thought of Mike Davis coaching that team. He said "It's like if you gave a million dollars to a 10 year old."

I’m in a different place on this. To me, locking down the borders isn’t getting every good in state player. It’s getting every good in state player that you want. Romeo, TJD, Brooks, maybe Lander, they’re high profile, must get kids from a strategic perspective. Those kids can’t get poached. A kid like, say, Franklin may help that narrative, and I’m glad he’s coming, but he’s not fundamental to it. At this point, it seems the staff views Leal more like that. 1 other point: If it’s true that Leal would jump on an offer, then you can’t really offer him until you are certain he’s your best option. If Archie wants, say, 2 guards in ‘20, and he views Morton, Love and Burnett as clearly better, than you can’t offer Leal until you’re out on at least 2 of them. Haven’t seen any of these kids, seeing Love next Saturday, but it’s pretty obvious that Archie sees options other than Leal at this point. But if the kid keeps putting up 38 on people, he’s gonna play himself into the best option.
