Here is all I have to say about the damned free throws: This of course is just my opinion but I'm hoping that CAM has been working on the fundamentals of Defense and Offense to get those squared away before the season started, believing them to be the most important at this point (letting the players shoot tons but not really get a coach to work with them). Now, the guys are getting the offense and defense clicking, maybe, he will get some folks in there to get them straight on the line. My recommendation is a good shot mechanics coach to teach them the correct form and set, a psychologist to hypnotize them to not freak out at the line, and a witch doctor to dispel any curse someone put on them. The friggin' free-throws are getting on my last nerve! Free throws are the easiest way to collect points in basketball. And we have to get this **** squared away asap!

I don't think TJD was behind the bench. I was at the game in the front row of the 2nd level right above MSU...had a good view, and he and Brooks (and another recruit) were in the corner opposite of the MSU bench. Also, yes, Izzo's whining is insufferable, but not as much as their entitled fans. The MSU section looked like they were doing the YMCA the whole night. They expect to get calls. They expect to be treated the way B1G refs treat them. Kansas should have stepped on their throat and won that game by 30 but they benched their starters for long periods of time. I'm sick of MSU and how they swept all the allegations under the rug and came out "clean" again. Such a joke.

Not once since the post earlier linking the new story about the decision timeline has anyone directed any negative comments towards TJD. We understand the game. Just disappointment in the timeline.

At the end of the day I guess if some feel the need to get upset because he needs or wants more time to decide then by all means show your anger towards a 17 year old kid making a choice. 5 star top 15 recruiting battles can be a 12 round fight. Luckily for us when Archie took the job during his speech he said his staff would dedicate themselves to high school coaches and the recruits of the state and they must feel dominating by Indiana University. That’s all us fans can ask for is a coach dedicated and willing to go the full 12 rounds in a heavyweight recruiting battle. Archie and staff have done everything possible in this recruitment in my opinion They kept their promise from the start and developed a great relationship with TJD. So much so that from June 27, 2017 when they offered until his official visit in September IU got a top 15 5 star kid on campus unofficially 8 times (one of those times sitting behind the bench with Phinisee)and never missed one of his summer games. I call that dominating. Not once did this staff let up or stop recruiting him (MSU did for a little period during summer evaluations). While most “insiders” have said this recruitment was close to being over not once did TJD say this. In fact in one of his last interviews with the Indy Star or rivals he stated he wanted to watch how Izzo coaches without Jackson and bridges and how Archie does with his own guys. Hard to watch these teams play if you sign with a team early. He said he wouldn’t go as long as Romeo but there was a possibility he won’t sign early. Well looks like he decided not to sign early. Wow, not the start to the season that I had in mind, but will take the W. 37% FG shooting. Good way to shake off the cobwebs and hopefully learn from this one.

A 9 point lead with 4:40 left and we nearly gave the game away but held on for a 68-66 win. Scoring: Wise 17; Patberg 16; Penn & Yeaney 8 apiece. Rebounds: Patberg and Wise each with 8; Penn 5. The men might want to take note -- the ladies were 19-26 on FT's for 73%.

Most on here are mad we are not in the champions classic. We get the big name matchup because iu is still i big name with a ton of fans. I like playing the big names but we need to win the games which we have been fair. This matchup is a dream game back in the 90s when we had knight and should be this season and hopefully from now on. I agree that iu will probably get slaughtered as duke looked insane but this is the type of game we need to win to get back on top. The summer 2018 thread was a good catch-all thread to discuss IU basketball during the offseason. I thought a similar thread for the season would be a good idea (if one already exists feel free to delete). This could be a thread to discuss how the team is looking, how individual players are playing, injury reports, or any number of other IUBB related things.

I get your point but the other complaints are valid too. I take a little more of a broad view concerning the schedule. Win the games in front of you and things will work out just fine. As far as the complaints. Chicago State is one of the 5 worst teams in the country (again for me, who cares, we need a few cupcakes) And Duke is a rematch game and unfortunately falls in a year when Duke may be the most talented team since the Anthony Davis led UK team. End of 3 and we lead 49-47. Wise with 12 and Patberg 9 our leading scorers. Patberg 7 reb; Wise 5; Penn 4. Tough shooting night for Penn as she's only 1-9 from the floor. Milwaukee's Reit only picked up 2 points in the quarter.

Thoughts from last night's games Kansas - best frontcourt in college bball. Azubuike is a beast and if he gets the ball within 5 feet of the hoop it's over. His only issue is he still can't shoot FT's. Grimes is a stud frosh. Definitely up there with the Duke guys and Romeo. Better Lawson brother played under control - this is what good coaching does. He's also an underrated passer. Final 4 team no doubt. Kentucky - You can't overreact after one game against probably the most talented team in the country. Keldon Johnson looked really good but the rest of the guys looked lost. Cal isn't getting the John Wall/Anthony Davis elite player anymore. Those guys are going to Duke. It's clearly showing from a coaching standpoint. His team last year started off really slow and then got it going towards the end so we'll see but overall not in the same league as Duke or KU. Duke - They have three freshman that are unguardable when they are on. Williamson is the best of the bunch. Dude is built like a truck but can play like a guard. He's smooth. They are also pretty long and Jones seems to have a good handle of the PG duties something that was an achilles heel for them last year with Duvall. Yikes this team is scary. Mich St - I think they are who I thought they were. Hyped up like usual but they seem to lack that special talent in East Lansing that they usually have. A Miles Bridges/Gary Harris type player. They are a tough bunch and play really hard. Have some good shooters and a solid PG but I think the BIG is certainly up for grabs this year. I don't see them as being any better than a Sweet 16 team if that.
