I think there's some Romeo-fatigue on this team. At the dunk contest, when the crowd voted (by cheering) for Romeo (even though Justin's dunks were better), you could see Justin and a couple others very clearly roll their eyes. The other night Jake went "live" on instagram, someone asked where was Romeo. He just did a little mocking fangirl "Romeo!!" thing and ignored the question. JMo went live on the IUBB page yesterday at media day, and Zach (who was next to him) added in the comments "Where's Romeo?" as a joke. This would be another example. You'll notice in the clip, they get asked about Romeo, and Juwan pops his eyes like he's saying "you've got to be kidding me with the Romeo questions," while Zach looks at Juwan like its an inside joke. That's my take. Do I think the guys are holding it against Romeo? No, I haven't seen that. Remember this time last year, when we were all convinced that Clifton Moore was going to be the big thing? Some were wondering if he was going to stay for 1 year or 2 before he went to the NBA. Now we've got guys like Jerome who aren't even getting mentioned at media day. Last two things. Story in the Star on IU's point guard competition. Really encouraging read. Senior forward and captain Juwan Morgan called Green and Phinisee’s head-to-head battles some of the best he’s witnessed since practice started. “Usually (Devonte) has been faster than the other guards but now Rob is just as quick laterally and just up and down,” Morgan said. “They give each other fits and I think it’s a good thing, especially to have that in practice where you have two great point guards going against each other.” A few days into practice the team was in the midst of a two-on-two drill where Green and Phinisee were matched up against each other. No one should be “automatically believing” an accuser or the accused. i think the extremes of this discussion need to remember that there is no way to engineer a perfect system - only to try to improve and monitor the system as society and as the law constantly evolves. Our forefathers did not pledge to “...form a perfect union...”; instead, they pledged to “form a more perfect union...”, one that moves that way as the country changes.

Rutgers That’s relatively close to my own. The top 3 are inexactly the same order. I have Purdue 4th, Wisconsin 5th but it’s close. They’ve got Minnesota a shade higher than I do but if everything breaks right and they stay healthy, that kind of finish is certainly possible. They’ve also got OSU much higher than I do…we’ll see if Holtmann makes me look bad two years running. I just think they go from a very experienced core to one where they’re relying on a lot of youth and I think it’s going to show up. MSU was 1st on 22 of 28 ballots and 2nd on the remaining 6. That’s a pretty definitive #1 according to the media guys. Personally, while I expected MSU to be the consensus favorite (and they are), I also think the league has less at the top than it had a year ago, so it doesn’t feel much like last year’s preseason, even though the view in terms of order of finish is pretty similar. The bigger surprise to me was seeing Winston as 1st Team All Big Ten. Not that I don’t think he can end up there but I thought there might be a little more support for Cowan from Maryland. Haven’t seen a vote total so maybe it was close. Good for him getting that kind of recognition and I absolutely think he could make good on it.

I won’t be surprised to see the NCAA pursue this further, because at the moment it removes one of its go-to moves in penalizing individuals associated with NCAA violations. A couple of quick points on this… 1. Not surprising at all that this happened in California. For any of our attorney members who do any type of employment/contractor related work which touches that state, I’m sure you’re familiar that state law there is construed against employers and any restrictions (non-competes, non-disclosures, etc.) in the most extreme fashion of any state in the nation. So, under that theory, not surprising to me that a judge there found that penalty to be an unlawful restraint. I question whether we’ll see that anywhere else but we’ll see. 2. It is of at least tangential interest in regard to the current college basketball case, in that at least one of the assistants under indictment was also a USC coach. Prior to this, I would have expected that individual to have received a show cause at the bare minimum, with more penalties to the program also possible. Now? Well, we’ll see.

All these publications and articles about Romeo gives me cause. He has always loved the pressure to fuel him but there is a big difference doing it at the college level. Just hoping that if he has a slow adjustment the fans and press don't jump on the "over hyped" train.

Dont forget smith can shoot also. His shot wasnt great last year but it looked good and i expect improvement. Also mcbob will shoot good i believe. I also think devante can step up. It seems as if your point is that the few cases of false accusations should lead to schools having the same burden of proof as court systems. IMHO that is bogus as getting kicked out of school is nothing compared to 15 years in jail. Completely agree and would take it a step farther, I think it's unreasonable not to have those expectations. None of those schools care about basketball as much as IU's fan-base. None of them have any inherit advantages either. In fact, only OSU is even close, IMO. IU should be the class of the B1G, like Mich State has become and we as a fan-base shouldn't accept any less.

Certain people believe the woman implicitly while others refuse to believe the woman regardless. It’s a two way street. False rape accusations happen at worst 10 percent of the time and that’s just with the cases brought forward.
