He does look so much like Gary Harris. If IU can get this guy, they’ll be getting a good one. Him, Keion and TJD would thrill me

All depends on how many of those 20 wins would be Quad 1 wins and even Quad 2 wins. You could have a 20-12 team as high as a 5 seed with the right number of quad 1 and 2 wins. Also you could have a bubble team or a team not make the tourney with a 20-12 record. I’m talking Quads in August. Lol Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

(2019) SG James Bouknight to UCONN

Pretty good workout video. Handle needs work, but my Lord, what a toolkit. His shot in the air is just Blackmonesque. I am officially a fan.

Not a high school, but the Scottsdale Community College is the Artichokes. Yuma Arizona was home to the territorial prison back in the day... Yuma HS is the Yuma Criminals. Valley Vista HS in the Phoenix metro area is the 'Monsoon', named after our seasonal dust/rain storms.

I am a proud Hobart Brickie ... Our former conference foe, LaPorte, had a unique one -- Slicers. ... In fact, I can remember the cheers from when I was in school. We'd yell: "What the hell's a Slicer?" And, of course, they'd counter with: "What the hell's a Brickie?"

The student athlete is only mildly inconvenienced now. -Leave a situation that you didn't like, but that still paid for a year or two of your college. -Join a situation that you believe will be better (your 1st choice was believed to be an awesome one, so who knows) that will continue to pay for your classes. -Get another year of free college, that might even set you up to be a graduate transfer in year 5. -Get the chance to work on some of your player shortcomings so by the time your final year rolls around, you are a lot better of a player. -Get an extra year to mature as a person, into an adult.(I believe this lack of maturity, self-awareness, and lack of desire to work to get better, is the catalyst for a lot of transfers) Their lives are not destroyed because they have to sit a year, while practicing with the team, while taking classes, while getting closer to their degree, while having the chance to get a lot better, and while having all the other tangible and intangible benefits of playing college basketball.

IU alum and former Hoosiers assistant Matt Canada is now the head coach of the Terps -- for the time being anyway. Boy, that program is a hot mess right now. Its staff might make Kevin Wilson look like a choirboy.

    High school team unique nicknames

Hobart Brickies, Speedway Sparkplugs. I think there used to be the Vincennes Alice's. Wasn't there a school in Pekin, IL that once had a rather off-color name?

I will admit I was never in the military and I have no idea, but I find it very surprising that in the military you get to negotiate a contract.... I would have assumed you sign on and they tell you what to do... but as I said I could be VERY wrong here. How is it silly? Both are things that a young person has a choice on. Both are things that open opportunities. Both are things that have rules in place and consequences if you break those rules.

My boss always got the good TDYs in the military. I told him it wasn't fair. He told me to STFU and make rank so when I was in charge I could decide which ones I went on. I signed a contract and had to live with it. A year isn't poop in the grand scheme of things. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

It is your opinion that they are not being treated fairly. To me there are being treated fairly (Actually better than fairly). Just because there are consequences for a choice doesn't mean it is unfair. That is my entire point, all choices have consequences, sometimes you know them ahead of time sometimes you don't but either way you have to live with them. Why shouldn't they? Why should they get a free pass to do whatever they want and avoid any repercussions?

No way a P5 school, especially a B1G school, with the increased conference games and a SOS like ours will be an actual bubble team at 20-12. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

    2018-19 Basketball Schedule

I’m seeing ten non-conference games. One is a likely loss, five are very likely to be wins, and four are gonna be a close call. If things go according to Hoyle, that’s a 7-3 non con. Let’s say we add to that a 12-8 conference record and a first round B1G tourney win. That equates to a 20-12 record with a very, very strong strength of schedule, and that is a tourney team. So, for me at this point, better than 20-12 leans toward overachievement, and less leans toward underachievement.

Mike Davis is gonna do real well at UD. I look forward to seeing what they do. He seems to win at these small schools

Sorry folks but i think you will be disappointed if you are thinking he will be an impact player coming back from this. Just to put it into perspective DeMarcus Cousins (similar build but an NBA star) is likely to be out until February 2019 with his ruptured achilles. He tore his in February 2018. I believe De'Ron tore his in January 2018....maybe he starts to turn a corner in the BIG season in January if he does indeed come back in November but im not optimistic. I'm still recovering from this injury myself playing basketball and doctors have told me its a 2 year injury. It's about 1 year from the injury to where you can finally go 100% and another year until you are really back to where you were from an athletic/competition standpoint. De'Ron obviously has the best trainers to help with this so I can't compare myself to him and he's probably a little accelerated in that regard. I actually tore mine a month after his and am still not able to jog or run yet. I have learned a lot from my doctors and the athletes i have read about that have had this injury and attempted to come back the year after. The result is they just weren't as good as before. Many can get back to that level they were at, it just takes patience and time. It's a debilitating injury (sorry for the downer post but it's based on my experience and what I have researched/been told about it).

    DE' RON DAVIS INJURY UPDATES

That's how I'm thinking about it as well. That he might not have "lost" something that was what separated him from other good basketball players. He didn't just out jump and out run the competition. He has offensive moves, decent footwork and was a top 50 recruit despite his athletic limitations. He's not going to try to windmill dunk from the free throw line and have an immediate revelation that, that part of his game is gone. That strength and dipsy-do stuff should still be there.

Totally. But "potential" is valued over production in the draft typically
