Just saw that video. Methinks our athleticism and talent level is about to take a serious, serious leap. Did you guys see Phinisee throwing it down with his elbow at the rim and Forrester with his forehead at rim height? Holy crap it’s gonna be a fun year. Hell, it’s gonna be a fun era.

I think Forrester is going to be a really good garbage man starting his sophomore year. Lobs, rim protecting, cleaning up the glass. The sort of thing you want your big man to do these days, and the sort of big man it seems Archie wants. He might get spot minutes this upcoming year but year 2 is when I expect him to starting showing out.

I hope in about 4 decades I’m sitting around telling my kids and grandkids how we have to be careful with this hire and explaining the horror of the B.A. times. Before Archie.

(2019) PG DJ Carton to Ohio State

Chris Holtman is at Peach Jam according to Rabby today. Anyone think it is a big deal that the head coach leaves when a recruit is on his official visit?

Silly Archie, he was supposed to not watch any guards on a weekend where Carton isn't playing out of solidarity and respect for Carton. Recruitment is over.

It wasn't my intention to spark a generational debate. It doesn't matter when you were born. When you or your group screw up you pay for it. The Cards were rotten and if this group is trying to convince anyone they didn't know about the missteps some were partaking in I call bull ****. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Sorry folks but i think you will be disappointed if you are thinking he will be an impact player coming back from this. Just to put it into perspective DeMarcus Cousins (similar build but an NBA star) is likely to be out until February 2019 with his ruptured achilles. He tore his in February 2018. I believe De'Ron tore his in January 2018....maybe he starts to turn a corner in the BIG season in January if he does indeed come back in November but im not optimistic. I'm still recovering from this injury myself playing basketball and doctors have told me its a 2 year injury. It's about 1 year from the injury to where you can finally go 100% and another year until you are really back to where you were from an athletic/competition standpoint. De'Ron obviously has the best trainers to help with this so I can't compare myself to him and he's probably a little accelerated in that regard. I actually tore mine a month after his and am still not able to jog or run yet. I have learned a lot from my doctors and the athletes i have read about that have had this injury and attempted to come back the year after. The result is they just weren't as good as before. Many can get back to that level they were at, it just takes patience and time. It's a debilitating injury (sorry for the downer post but it's based on my experience and what I have researched/been told about it).

Yes in October but not sure of the date yet. They have a date in mind just waiting to hear when the locker room project will be finished before setting it in stone. They are going to show it off to recruits that weekend. TJD, Brooks have already said they will be here for HH.

    2018-19 Basketball Schedule

FWIW..... I called the Bud Walton Arena ticket box office yesterday to purchase tickets for the November 18th game. They said individual tickets will not go on sale until October 1st. I got all kinds of reminders set. The Courtyard is booked! Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners

The team wouldn't have missed a bowl game if our former "QB whisperer" of a head coach was able to reel in even one decent QB recruit beyond getting Sudfeld as a late AZ decommit. If Rich Rod doesn't take the Arizona job then Bill Lynch would have had a better resume at QB recruiting and development at IU than Wilson.

Don Fischer Receives First Woody Durham College Voice Award Don Fischer, who has been the radio voice for Indiana University athletics for more than 45 years, was presented with the inaugural Woody Durham College Voice Award by the National Sports Media Association, the University of North Carolina and Learfield Sports. The presentation was made June 25 in Winston-Salem, NC at the annual NSMA Banquet. The award is named after longtime UNC play-by-play voice Woody Durham, who spent more than 40 years calling Tar Heel contests and is considered an ACC icon. Fischer, a native of Rochelle, Illinois also was honored with his 25th award as Indiana Sportscaster of the Year. During his 45 years with IU, Fischer has been named Indiana Sportscaster of the Year 29 times by two different organizations. The National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association has awarded him 25 times, while the Indiana Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association has named him its honoree four times. In October of 2010, Fischer was one of eight inductees into the Indiana Broadcast Pioneers Richard M. Fairbanks Hall of Fame. The Indiana Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association (ISSA) inducted Fischer into the ISSA Hall of Fame in 2004. He has won several awards for best play-by-play performance, and he has been honored by Indiana University with the J.W. Bill Orwig Medal, that goes to non-alumni for distinguished service to the University. Fischer also has been named an Honorary "I" Man. In addition, the City of Indianapolis, and the State of Indiana have each honored Fischer with a special "Recognition Day" for his service and abilities as the play-by-play broadcaster for IU. He has broadcast nearly 1,900 Indiana University games - a total that includes eight bowl games, four NCAA basketball championship games and two N.I.T. championship games. From 1973 through 1987, he worked for ABC Radio, Canada's CBC and several additional major market radio stations, including WIRE in Indianapolis, as their source for reports during the month of May coverage of the Indianapolis 500. During that period, Fischer also served WIRE and Network Indiana, a statewide news network, as their sports director. Fischer has been in the radio business for 50 years. His previous broadcast experience includes stops in Butte, Mont.; Ottawa, Ill.; Springfield, Ill.; and Terre Haute, Ind. He has four sons and 11 grandchildren. Don and his wife, Susy, reside in Greenwood, Ind.
