    Big Ten Power Rankings

I'm not getting the Nebrasketball and Maryland hype. Rutger, Illinois, and Northwestern won't be good. Iowa, Minnesota, Penn State and Ohio State will be on the outside looking in (on the dance). Wisconsin, Nebrasketball, and Maryland will be solid and should get tourney invites. The Michigan and Indiana schools will be competing for the Big Ten and high seeds. (2020) SG Trey Galloway To IU

Could be, but I just don't think that IU feels that either of them are at the level of an IU scholarship just yet.

I’m not terribly disappointed about this, I thought Lemonis was a good recruiter but was a very mediocre field manager and at developing talent. The only thing I’m afraid of is I don’t know if anyone better is available, I just don’t follow college baseball nearly enough to have a pulse on that. I know Tracy Smith will be a popular name to come up but I don’t know if hiring a coach who’s about to get fired is a good look. Hopefully Glass gets this right, going to have another hire in a major sport to hopefully prove himself. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

    College Bball Thread

I grew up as a little kid on the U of D Titan bandwagon. I can now start rooting for them again, for the first time in a long time. Back in the late 1970s, there weren't many college basketball games on TV, especially on week nights. But if you watched Channel 7 Action News at 5:30 p.m. in Detroit, you'd see U of D highlights from the night before, back when Vitale and Duerod and Terry Tyler and those guys were doing their thing. It made an impression on me. Seemed like a happenin' place.

It goes without saying, but CAM can't take 'em all (doubt he would ever want to...). I won't lose sleep with Pork Chop recruiting the Gillis's, Isaiah Thompson's, Eric Hunter's of the world while CAM is pulling in the likes of Damezi Anderson, Rob Phinisee, and Romeo.

I didn't get to see Galloway play but I did hear that he hasn't played consistently (health) in awhile so some were confused with the timing of his MSU offer. I thought Leal looked decent, but I really liked Armaan Franklin. What were your thoughts if you saw either?

(2019) SF - Mason Gillis to PU

Carsen better find consistency if they're really going to compete. He can win and lose games for pu. They'll be good and can win the Big Ten but I think they'll finish somewhere between 3-5 or tier 2. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

I think the AD's recent investment in the program is enough to attract a decent coach. The problem for a school like ours is that this recent surge in baseball prominence the last eight or so years is not something we can take for granted. This isn't a baseball school and we're not in a baseball conference. A couple of down years and it'll be tough to bounce back to where we've been recently. Making the tournament as often as we have recently with an occasional deep run is really the best we can hope for, unless Smith comes back for the long haul and can rekindle the magic he had before taking the ASU gig. Most decent coaches we land will use this as a stepping stone gig. Not upset to see Lemonis go though if we can pull in a capable coach.

I really don't think this is all that terrible. Losing Tracy Smith was a downgrade. I feel like Lemonis is a dime a dozen coach and good luck at Mississippi State developing players which is something he does not know how to do. I will be shocked if he succeeds there but I guess its to good to pass up. Time to put in a call to ASU to see if Tracy Smith wants back before he gets fired next year or find some other good young coach.

Don’t disagree they’re meaningless but there’s not much else to talk about this time of year. I’m just surprised Archie has one down year and people seem to have forgotten what a good coach he is. We will compete for the BIG this year.

Huge losses in Vince and Crabs and a bigger loss than some think in PJ and Mathias. Carsen will have to do even more than last year and that's gonna be with defenses keying on him. Painter is pretty good at making the Boilers competitive even in down years. Don't see them being top tier at all with all they lost.

This shows what more than two decades of irrelevance and perpetual rebuilding has done to the perception of our program.

He's solid and will be a good 4 year player. Nothing that really scares me. Newman is a better player. They may get him as well, who knows, but I like Newman better. This commitment sent me over to the Purdue boards for the first time in a while. Wow. They honestly think they are a tier 1 BIG team this year. I always give Purdue respect when they have good teams but I expect this years team to be a tier 2 team. Somewhere between 4-8. Maybe Carsen can carry them? They have Haarms, they think Wheeler is a superstar in waiting. They expect Eastern to be the NBA star his mom believes him to be. Evan Boudreaux is the next coming. Interesting. They aren't a bad team and Boudreaux will really help them. I like Haarms. I really like Carsen. They rest are question marks to me. Painter is a good coach. Can't wait to find out.

(2019) SF - Mason Gillis to PU

Gillis has been a heavy purdue lean for a couple of months. As scouts have said in the past IU’s staff will not turn down a ranked in-state kid if he wants to visit. It never hurts to have them on campus. IU’s staff is looking at the bigger picture and building in-state relationships with everyone involved. I personally think Gillis will be a really good player down the road. He is also really nice. My son and I sat next to him and his mom at one of Indiana elite’s game at warren central. All 4 coaches watched Anthony Leal play this morning and most stayed to watch Armaan Franklin play the next game. Franklin looked really good, long, and an all around good player, not just a shooter. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Furst is participating in the Nike Elite 100 Camp this weekend. This is Evan Daniels and Brian Snows thoughts after 2 days of action. Caleb Furst shows he belongs Ft. Wayne, Indiana native Caleb Furst had a very strong evening session on Friday. Furst, who is known more for skill than explosion, had a few high level dunks in traffic, one of which was a tip dunk on an offensive rebound. Along with the athleticism plays, Furst also held his own on the glass, and finished with a few nice post moves as well. Beyond that Furst blocked shots, and ran the floor every single possession. Just a class of 2021 prospect, Furst held his own against some of the best bigs in the country, and has made a real impression with his play.
