    #IUBASE - 2018 NCAA Tournament

Ok. I honestly don't know where to begin. I certainly have no complaints with how we did in Regional and we made it further than any IU team in history besides the great 2013 and 2014 teams. We left everything on the field tonight and I am not sure we could of done anything differently this weekend. We gave it our all and came to compete. Tonight's game reminded me a lot of the Big Ten Championship game in 2012 (the game where we had the fight) where we battled all the way till the end but lost a hard fought game to a far superior PU team where we really gave it our all and came up just short of NCAA tourney. Also the 2015 Regional in second game against Vandy where we lost to them on the Dansby Swanson homer in the 9th (who is now on Braves) comes to mind where we gave it our all and came up short.. Now with all that said we have issues. The fact that we collapsed down the stretch and put ourselves into this much tougher Regional put us way behind the 8 ball. Without that we are hosting and like Minny have a great chance to be playing in Supers. Overall other than that stretch I got no complaints about the season since as a whole since we got 40 wins and clearly had our third best season in program history (I don't count anything Bob Morgan did with his patsie schedule and I am not well versed enough to know about our earlier good seasons pre 1950). Most importantly with Lemonis at helm part of me knows we cannot keep competing at this level if our player development and fundamentals don't improve fast. Already next year Sowers, Miller, Lloyd and Stiever are certainly gone and Fineman and Milto could be gone. We will keep getting good recruits and we have some young promising players in the program like Ashley, Barr, Sommer Etc. but at some point these guys and any future recruits have to be developed better and Lemonis has not shown he is the guy to do that. Teams under Lemonis play hard and never quit but don't always play smart. There are certainly issues with this program and I have alluded to them many times and been critical but baseball, swimming and soccer are the only IU teams in the last decade that have competed at a high level constantly while other programs in the department have faltered more often than not. Congrats to our baseball Hoosiers on a great season overall!

During his junior year at Valpo HS, he took 412 shots from the floor but only 30 % (123) were from three. He shot 43% from three and 55% from inside the arc. I’ve seen him play multiple times and honestly, he’s a scorer who learned how to shoot and not vice versatile. I used the Greg Graham comparison earlier and it’s a really accurate one IMO.....Graham was a scorer first then s shooter but by his senior year at IU had developed into a really good shooter.

    1. DJ Carton. Has big play potential for a PG 2. Keion Brooks. Great help on the wing. Highly touted in-state recruit 3. TJD. Skilled big man. Highly touted in-state recruit

Not as good start to 5th for Saalfrank. Leadoff walk, sac bunt and infield hit makes it 1st and 3 1 out.

Survive and advance! We need to atleast take 1 from Texas. This team should've hosted the Supers...

(2019) WR Craig Young to OSU

Craig has locked in an official visit to Indiana for the weekend of June 15th per Steve Wiltfong. IU is in the top five alongside Iowa, Purdue, Michigan State, and Ohio State. Of the teams in his top five, Ohio State, Indiana and Purdue have crystal ball picks.

There are a couple of ways I could go here and still be over the moon happy. 1. Romeo's spot. (Option 1A. Brooks 2A. Carton 3A. Lewis) 2. Juwan's spot (Option 1A. Watford 2A. TJD 3A. Brooks) 3. Fitzner's spot (Option 1A. Hurt 2A. TJD 3A. Stewart 4A. Nnaji) So if I had to take 3 and only 3, it would be Brooks, Watford, and Hurt. Romeo's spot- 1.Brooks-He is super athletic, can slash/pass/shoot. Can pretty much play/defend 1-4. Triple threat and would fill in for Romeo better than any other recruit we are after. I love Lewis and Carton both and would be thrilled to have either of them for this roster spot. Carton and Phinisee on the court together would be small but would be dynamic. It would work. Juwan's spot- 1. Watford- He is rangy and long. Can shoot on all 3 levels. Not as consistent as i'd hope with shooting stats but I think with more time and practice he can be. Defensively, his length is incredible. The ties to Christian and IU are cool. Can play the 3 or 4 and maybe even spot at the 5 in small ball lineup. TJD fits here incredibly well. I want him and think we are most likely to get him but he is my backup choice to fill Juwan's shoes. Fitzner's spot- 1. Hurt-He is a phenom. He is so skilled and versatile. He has an extra inch or 2 over TJD. Not the most athletic but his skill set would make him so versatile. Great guy, good chemistry with race. He'd be my number 1 choice. Again, TJD is my back up for this spot. TJD and Hurt can both play the 4 or the 5.

Hopefully Phinisee pushes Devonte to be his very best. That would only bode well for IU

I’m not on either end of the spectrum on this one. I really like what McBob brings, and I would be shocked if he isn’t one of our top eight players. But, Whether he starts or not is of no real concern to me. ALSO: a major dynamic that has not been discussed is that McBob has a pretty nice shooting stroke, and knowing his work ethic I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if he is a much more confident and 40% three-point shooter next season. (2019) DE Beau Robbins to IU

Allen I think is already better. Yeah Wilson got us some attention and he got some great recruits...not saying he was bad by any means ...but the guy ran off so many big time QBs and other recruits we were afte and actually close to getting....basically the families didn’t like him and the kids ended up hating the one on ones with him. Let alone how he mis managed the roster (even if he was still here he left a lot of holes for this staff to fill....especially at Lb last class....OL is/was slim)....and for a QB guru with Bradford....he didn’t get sudfeld....what’s his face (litrell) did. Ran off lytle (QB) peters we had a good shot with (family friends) he left a lot of big holes, luckily Allen and Co have done a great job and hopefully this is just the beginning. I’m fine if Purdue does great with recruiting it makes football relevant here in the whole state. If we can land Kirtz (NW probably), Cameron Williams (LB from merriville), Craig young, and Kiser (long shot ND and PU are leaders I’d say). Maybe OL from up north...I’d call that a win...Sampson James they are still in contact with. However we know they will hit Florida hard.

The Big Ten would lose a good coach. I want the Big Ten to be the strongest conference and for IU to be the best team in the strongest conference. He seems like a genuinely good guy too.

Good question. I haven't seen him play so all I can do is draw some inferences from his AAU season. He's taken a total of 206 shots from the field 134 or 65% were 3's of which he he's hit 40%. That leaves 72 shots he's taken from inside the line and hit 32 or 44%. No way to know if those 72 were with 1 foot inside the line or drives to the basket so you have to take it for what it's worth. As for a spllt between 3's and non-3's, in this era and as a shooting guard I'm guessing (emphasize guessing) his split is pretty much average. Personally, if he can consistently hit 40%, bombs away!

Understand the sentiment, but probably not wise to speculate on Hoosiers in good standing that could leave wholly based on a rumor.

I thought Hartman did a decent job defensively in the post when he was asked to during the 15-16 season. Sent from my Pixel XL using BtownBanners mobile app

    Evan Fitzner to IU

I think that the big thing to remember is that he was the sixth man on a top twenty-five team that had just a seven man rotation. He had more minutes per game at St. Mary's than McSwain, Hartmann, and Justin Smith did here. Honestly, I think the hope is offering IU what Hartmann did in 2014-5 and 2015-6 but with the possibility of being able to play better defense down low.

He looks a lot leaner in the picture. That’s good. He was too slow on defense. He does have good hands and knows how to post up so ......oh and he is 6’10”

    DE' RON DAVIS INJURY UPDATES

I think we question whether a particular player fits a system or not and what role he might fill on our team. But I don't think anyone really roots against a player or hopes he fails.
