    NIT Bubble Watch

Here is your Path to the NIT guide for Friday, March 9th: Sun Belt quarterfinal: #1 Louisiana vs. #9 Texas State, 12:30 p.m. SWAC semifinal: #1 Arkansas Pine-Bluff vs. #4 Southern U., 3:30 p.m. MEAC semifinal: #1 Hampton vs. #4 North Carolina A&T, 6:00 p.m. Southland semifinal: #1 Southeast Louisiana vs. #4 Sam Houston State, 6:00 p.m. MAC semifinal: #1 Buffalo vs. #5 Kent State, 6:30 p.m. Big Sky semifinal: #1 Montana vs. #5 Northern Colorado, 8:35 p.m. Mountain West semifinal: #1 Nevada vs. #5 San Diego State, 9:00 p.m. Big West semifinal: #1 UC-Davis vs. #4 Cal State Fullerton, TBA. WAC semfinal: #1 New Mexico State vs. #4 Seattle/#5 UT-Rio Grande Valley, TBA. Conference USA semifinal: #2 Old Dominion vs. #3 Western Kentucky. Just need these teams to not kill each other so one of them can win the final game. This is a LOT of games that need to go a particular way, and as much fun as I've had with this, I'm sure the ides of March will not allow all of the outcomes to benefit us. But was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Was it over when we trailed Duke by 17 in the hellhole of college basketball and had a fraction of their NBA players? Was the Big Ten race over when Purdue was 12-0? Keep the faith, NIT hopefuls.

According to a rumor from another site, IU is planning on making Sean East a preferred walk on.

I agree that RoMeO would definitely help but, as someone living in Southern Indiana currently, I think IU winning will help more than anything. There are UK and UL fans but the IU and PU fans outnumber all of them, IMO. Of course we typically don't pay much attention to those PU/UK/UL folks and what they have to say. Obviously, one has to questions their decision making abilities.

If he doesn't come to IU, chances are I'll never see him play in college. Certainly won't watch a Kansas or Vandy game on purpose.

USPS at some point you have to go out and deliver the mail. I've been waiting on my birthday card for months now.

HA! Yeah, I am in Santa Claus (an hour from Evansville, and an hour from Louisville). I am hoping you hear more from our area soon! The 2021 class has some talent! (Montgomery, Hopf, Sisley) We'll see how they all develop! We need to keep Michael Lewis out of here .. I hear he's already in on Montgomery (rumor so who knows).

UPDATE: #1 New Mexico State 97, Chicago State 70. Not much to see here. New Mexico State moves on to the WAC semifinals. However... Southern Miss 71, #1 Middle Tennessee 68, OT. Someone must have told Southern Miss they were playing IU's pack-line defense, as they hit 13 of 25 from three and pulled the upset. As NYC buckets has mentioned, this is an interesting case. Old Dominion is the #2 seed in C-USA. They were projected as an NIT at-large. Lunardi still has MTSU in the NCAA as an at-large, but we'll see what happens there. If MTSU is left out, they are now a lock for the NIT. But fear not! If Old Dominion wins the C-USA tourney, they go to the NCAA tournament, and MTSU likely just trades places with them. So, a new and interesting wrinkle in our unprecedented early-March journey: we are now rooting for a TWO seed, instead of a one! NIT madness, baby!

Need advice fellas Newman plays in Michigan City at 10, Galloway plays in LaPorte at the same time. Good chance both will advance. Thinking of catching Galloway, then hit second game at Michigan City (which is Damezi and Riley) and hopefully Newman and Damezi for the championship that night. Sound like a plan?

Templon said earlier this week he was checking to see if the SWAC still got an auto-bid with Grambling State being ineligible and Arkansas Pine-Bluff getting moved up to their spot. I wish he would follow up on this. It's been keeping me up the last few nights wondering if I need to worry about Pine-Bluff overcoming their inferior Kenpom ranking and knocking off the lower seed in the final of that tourney, assuming they win tomorrow, of course. The SWAC is full of bumps in the road. There are no easy games in that league.

Just thinking out loud, but Romeo picking IU would definitely be great PR for IU in southern Indiana. It would make IU a cool school to go to, which is good for our exposure in that area of the state. Too many people down there are UK/UL fans, sometimes because IU just gives them nothing to cheer for lately. Getting Romeo would go a long way in changing that. I just get so damn sick of seeing that "Southern Indiana is Louisville Country" billboard down there.

UPDATE: #1 Nevada 79, UNLV 74 #1 UC-Davis 70, UC-Riverside 66 #1 Montana 84, North Dakota 76 Nevada came back from 12 down early in the second half, survived after one of their players decided to run his mouth near an official with about a minute left and was T'd up. Just need MTSU and New Mexico State to win later this evening and dreams of the NIT can dance through our heads for at least one more night.

    Post Season Thoughts Thread

I've been watching IU since they only had 2 banners ('80-'81 season is the first I remember). I have to say, this has been the most unusual season that I can remember. I'm struggling to think of any other with the Jekyll Hyde personality, lack of senior leadership, blowout home losses, and just plain never really knowing what you were going to get from a team. Every time you thought they had turned a corner, the wheels seemed to fall off again.

East shoots over 50% from 3. And the games I have watched had some really good passes. I would for sure take him as a walk on. With him, McRoberts and Blackmon we would have a heck of a walk on squad Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

He may also be picking up scholarship offers from other schools, finally. I'd like him to be a walk on at IU, but can't blame him if he gets an offer to play somewhere on a scholarship.
