2018 IUFB Recruiting

I say this with goodwill intended; your posting style could use improvement as it unnecessarily insults people. We have an educated group here. In my opinion, a rightfully frustrated and jaded group. We all love the Hoosiers (besides Olivia, BlueDevil, and StBoiler [emoji23]) and that's what matters. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app -

(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS

In my opinion they could easily be a tourney team without him next year. Going deep in the tourney might be a different story but honestly it doesn’t take much to be a tourney team anymore. Look at the rosters of the last 4 teams in the tournament the last 5 years. Last year Vandy made it in at 19-15. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

You know, I thought along those lines too, but have noticed all of the young kids down here really repping the IU gear at the HS games this season. Sent from my SM-G930P using BtownBanners mobile app -

Agree completely. A good shooter and both the Duke and UofL games could very easily have been a different outcome. DD and JM are playing well down low. A knock down shooter completely changes things. This has been one of the absolute worse shooting teams that I can remember at IU. Another year of getting this defense down will be a huge plus going into next season. By the way, I don't think Bossi has heard anything new, just what he formulates in his noggin. I will and still say, that my homeboy will be wearing candy stripes next year. Formulate that! ROOAAAR! Why are people shooting others down for sharing information they’ve heard? That’s the whole point of this forum. I get that a lot of it is negligible, but a lot of us come here for any type of news. Thank you everyone for sharing your info! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

I heard something! Very similar to what the other guy posted. I went to Southport this weekend, sat by some other IU fans that were there for the show. One guy (who works for the University, but not in athletics), is family friends with people very much in the NA basketball world, including the high school team and AAU. He said there is basically an understanding among that crowd that Romeo is coming to IU. I know, I know. Another 3rd hand account of someone that doesn't know anything. It's possible that there's nothing to know, you know? I don't get the impression that Romeo is a huge IU fan, but he may decide nonetheless that it is the best opportunity for him. Fine, right? Maybe by the time he leaves he'd be a proud Hoosier. Tim Langford has called this a "business decision" many times. Romeo stays late to sign autographs. Romeo is hanging onto his recruitment for a looong time, and giving interviews along the way. It very well may be the case that Romeo is playing the long game here, and he is just increasing the value of his name. To be clear, I respect this a ton, and would never expect someone not to do this. If this is the case, then maybe that bodes well for IU, maybe not. A little bit about Romeo's play on Saturday. I think it is going under-appreciated that he has a nasty streak to him. Part of his brand is that he is cool-headed, never showing a great deal of emotion. But if you were to watch he and Keion grappling at the game, Romeo is not shying away from contact or anything. This will sound too simple, but it's that same cool, competitive streak Jordan had. He went straight at the best player on the other team. I swear, Romeo was there to embarrass Keion and get under his skin. Did anyone else notice the games those two were playing? Like walking into his path coming out of a timeout, little hand games for position that went beyond the norm. And yes, I was watching Romeo the whole game, like a total creep. Aside from that, Romeo is just better than the other players on the court. He does a ton of things that don't show up on stat sheets. He was tasked with doing the jump ball, guarding the tallest guy/best player, a ton of point duties, all while drawing doubles. Among all of this he scores 42 points and shuts down the opposing team's star. He deflected passes, and cuts off passing lanes. He sees what's happening out there and anticipates it. A few times when Keion would be trying to time a burst to an open spot, Romeo timed it too, like he was expecting it, and took a more direct route to meet him there. Weird little things like one-handed rebounds that he collects and going straight into a running dribble to create transition opportunities, or offensive rebounds that he just deflects straight to an open teammate instead of coming down with the ball and then passing. Anyway, I really enjoyed watching him play. He's handling the enormous pressure of all of this very well. An IU commitment would be awesome. -

Three Year Rebuild?
CR3AMnCR1MS0N and 4 others reacted to HoosierAloha for a post in a topic
I wouldn't be surprised if it takes until the third year to be a team competing for the Big Ten, tournament, and Sweet 16 or better. 2017-2018: Solid with a lot of deficiencies. Toughness, IQ, shooting, understanding of the system.. 2018-2019: Better with a bubble team. Better leadership, shooting, but young and frosh learning the system. More talent that fits though. 2019-2020: Tourney team that competes with the top end of the Big Ten. A point guard and leaders emerge. Shooting is there and a noticeable talent upgrade. The 2018 class starts producing and the 2019 class is extremely talented. The thing I'm most looking for is if CAM and co. Can maintain that with consistently finishing towards the top of the Big Ten and making runs in the tourney. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

Oh trust me this isn’t by accident. And I agree, there are a great deal of educated posters on here. But man since garland committed to Vandy the negativity and false, not even close to correct assumptions have just pushed me over the edge so I say some harsh comments back to a select few when I comment back to them. But I hear your constructive criticism and will begin to look past the poor posts and get over it at this point. For the best probably haha Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Us Losing big boy status was not the intent of my comment. My intent was that if we're not going up against Duke, pUKe, KU, etc., we're not going after the level of recruits that we need. None of us want any more Aprils, Jurkins or Priller's taking up scholarships. -

There’s two different ways to share what you hear that we’ve had in this thread the past couple days. One was arrogant, condescending, and prodding, which naturally brings the most pushback. The other was delivered by a delicious pizza sandwich. -

Imo anybody who can put the ball in the round circle would be a huge help. People act like we are a disaster right now but i dont think we are far from being decent. We lack a shooter if we made shots we would be looking alot better than we are right now Sent from my SM-G920V using BtownBanners mobile app -

Three Year Rebuild?

I think if we are just taking it one step at a time we should be going to the tournament next next year. We aren’t going from where we are to top of the B1G in one or two years, but we should be top 5 of B1G by next year. B1G doesn’t exactly look strong after this year and it’s pretty weak this year. This is with or without Romeo btw. I have a feeling we go after a grad transfer if we miss on Romeo. Which even 3 months ago everyone was ecstatic over the top 10-15 class we are getting in Archie’s first year when it’s said and done. We have solid players moving forward. Juwan for one more year along with Davis should lead to a tournament appearance imo. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -

Year 3 we are a tournament team and a Buc Trn title contender. Should be consistently in the upper half going forward. Getting Romeo speeds this up. We can still get into the dance next year, but likely a bubble team at best without Romeo. -

55-8 at the half. Pretty sure Chicago State made at least one appearance on our schedule when Crean was here. And I'm sure if you asked him they'd probably compete in the Big Ten. -
