I want Garland. I truly do. But I'm telling you, boys....Phinisee is a 4-year kid who will be a terrific Big Ten point guard. Garland is a great player. I would LOVE to have him. But he would also be a luxury. I would be very happy with the current class if that's all we had. Of course I want the big tickets.....but Phinisee is the one I really wanted because he's terrific and he'll be here 4 years.

Have you seen Phinisee play? It will not take him 3 years. He's better right now than any point guard we have. I think you and others are WAY under-selling his capability. I watched him go toe to toe with Langford 2 years ago; and watched him play well this summer against the best in the country. He is a lot better than it seems you think he is.

RP is really good but like with any recruit coming in just as it will be if Garland comes here know one really knows for sure how they adjust to playing in college. I have a good guess that both of these kids will be fine. There was a reason that RP was one of the first kids the new staff reached out to. I don’t know if he was priority 1 or 2 at his position I don’t really get into that but I don know the staff the staff tracked RP as closely as anyone they were evaluating. Fans on here are going to fall in love with him in my opinion. In his commitment interview he has said he wants to get to Bloomington as much as possible this year so he can start learning the system. Great point. Glad someone understands this because there is a chance Garland picks Vandy. I have gave my personal opinion sides a few pms and random post. I stick by that though and think we get him. I have been closer to Romeo's recruitment than Darius's, but the Vandy smoke is mostly guesses. Are some educated guesses no doubt, but I believe only a handful of people truly know what he will do today. From what I've heard though from good sources is that IU may have pulled ahead due to HH. Like I have said over and over, Vandy not having true insiders has hurt us on this recruitment. Usually with 5 stars you have bigger schools with guys with more connections that can give more than what seems like guesses. If he does choose Vandy I wish the kid nothing but the best. IU will be my pick until he says otherwise though.

I'm feeling good about this, dudes. I think HH did the job. He received so much love in Bloomington that it tempers whatever he thought he'd gain by staying home. I'll tell my story about Darius one more time. I got to watch Darius play in April at EYBL. I didn't know who he was or anything about him. Someone on here (Old Fart?) had provided a list of targets playing at the event, so I was just matching up jersey numbers to players as they came out on the court. Keion, Carey, Swider, King, Brooks, Watford, etc. I got to see a ton of guys, in addition to all the great players there that weren't IU targets. Before Garland's game I saw him and his team take the court. Darius was the last guy you'd assume was a star, or 5* recruit. Smallish, under-developed compared to what is around. Tucking in his undershirt and jersey, tying his shoes. Nothing noteworthy. Game starts, and he is immediately going 1.5 times the speed of anyone else on the court. Ball in his hands, and you see him setting up something in his mind 3/4 court away from the basket. He'd get down there and squirt through the defense in ways you've never seen, and sneak in passes no one would expect. His scoring is crafty, too. Floaters and pull-up stuff, creating himself space for a shot aside from driving to the hoop or spotting up for a 3. The guy was a star, and I got the feeling this was the last time I'd get to sit courtside to see him without paying hundreds for my seat. After the game he was back to being nothing but a nice kid. He took time to take pics with youngsters in the crowd and say hi to anyone in the crowd that asked. I came away from the weekend being most impressed with Darius. I assumed he'd be a UK or Duke commit. Obviously things have played out differently since then, and we find ourselves in a two horse race with his hometown Vandy. Dammit if that doesn't make me like him even more!! The pull for him to stay home is real. I like Nashville, Vandy as an institution, and generally will root for Coach Drew under different circumstances. On Instagram, Darius would post of him hanging out with a 1yr old little girl (assumed a sister or niece or cousin) pretty often, and it looked like he was just very happy with his family life. I get the feeling that Darius is a very nice kid. I think we get him, but I'll be okay if we don't. But daaaaang do I hope we do. Sidenote: Anyone know if it will be streamed?? I agree with this. I think it is IU but as you said no one knows yet. The coaching staff doesn't know yet but from my conversations with the staff, they feel very good about it his recruitment and conversations they have had with him. All of this is opinion of it all and I still think it is IU
