Very good advice. I'm afraid that there are some who are taking a few (unsubstantiated?) rumors and pairing it with high-level optimism to suddenly think that a Langford commitment to IU is likely to happen soon. Reading all the different stories out there right now, an imminent commitment is possible, but is nowhere near the certainty that the last few pages of this thread may lead you to believe. From everything I am reading and hearing, an early commitment is possible. As in, it COULD happen. It's not out of the realm of possibility. But I have yet to see an accredited source be willing to bet on it right now. It seems like there are some of our Hoosier comrades who are suddenly worried about if he takes the Kansas visit because Langford's dad was quoted in saying that they don't HAVE to take the Kansas visit if they don't want to. I agree, that's a quote that COULD be a positive for IU. However, the plan all along was/is to take the visit to Kansas. And seeing how methodical, careful and level-headed this recruitment has been, I think it would be foolish to get your hopes up into thinking he's not going to visit Kansas this weekend. And if he goes as scheduled, I don't necessarily believe that it suddenly means he didn't have as good of a time at Hoosier Hysteria as we thought he had. It just means he's giving due diligence to one of the other schools he likes. My point? Optimism is always refreshing and more fun. But be careful to not let optimism and wishful thinking inaccurately portray the reality of this recruitment. I think we're in good shape, though.

I believe that while things look strong with Romeo, pumping the brakes until we get some concrete news is an excellent, prudent idea! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

(2018) PG Darius Garland to Vandy

Yes he talked to RP about it. DG was always option #1. If no one leaves someone will have to be low man on totem pole. Having a 4 year PG is not as big deal some think. Trey Galloway was on campus on Monday another PG who we would love to have.

Guys call the police. I know we don't like him but somebody has a gun to Jerry Meyers head.

Uhhh. Apparently you don't know about Hoosier Guy's source. Seriously, I agree with your take. In fact I took Tim Langford's comments more in line with your take. Almost telling the fan base that Romeo hasn't made up his mind yet. There are no restrictions on him closing down his recruitment, and at this point he hasn't decided to do so. Just the same, this place is made for us to chatter about this stuff ad nauseum. We're fans. It's what we're going to do.

They only use it for game days. But it is way way behind the times compared to other elite teams locker rooms. If I hit powerball tonight I'm going to renovate them.

For some reason I *think the fan base is ready, emotionally, either way. We're not pinning hopes and dreams on this one recruit, because there's so much else happening with the program right now. It's like we've been sailing with a mad captain, mutinied, and now have the stable hands of good leader. It's calming and reassuring. Like everyone I'm keeping a close eye on Garland and Langford. Incredible opportunity here, and crazy that it could happen in CAM's first class. But otherwise, I don't really enjoy the churning rosters, flash, groveling, and incontinuity of OAD teams. As much fun as it is to take 6-7 recruits a year, I prefer following a player for 3-4 years on the roster. I guess the question is whether or not you can win the whole darn thing if you don't play the recruiting game and eschew the top talent. Last point. I do think the 5* guys we're tracking now are special in that they are very high quality young men. Romeo, Darius, Trendon, Trayce. Everything I read is that these kids are level-headed gentlemen. Same mold as Yogi or Eric Gordon. It'd be awesome to have them represent IU.

Regardless of who their number option is IU is going to continue to recruit the top talented point guards or any position in the upcoming class. It’s the players that are signed or in the program now to continue to improve and make an impact. If Garland signed and Anthony wanted to come to IU they would make it work. Also the forgotten low ranked recruit sometimes turns out to be the headliner of the class. Frank mason and Devonte graham were not the headliners if their respected classes at Kansas. Those 2 turned out great for Kansas Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

    IUBB Offseason Topic

I just bought my tickets for the exhibition on Saturday ($6 each!), and I plan on buying some for the other exhibition and the Indiana State game too. I want to get closer to their dates so the prices go down. Can't wait to get this season started!

    Last names on jerseys?

I'd like to keep the traditional look of the home/away jerseys but have an alternate with script Indiana for preseason tourneys, special games, or for the B1G tourney.

I've no doubt Phinisee was very aware of Archie's recruiting targets and the implications before he verbaled. These kids, their parents, coaches, etc., are every bit aware of recruiting targets and the potential competition they may face and especially so if they pay any attention at all to btb!
