One last thought before I evacuate my home. There's no gas, the interstates are parking lots. It's just time to hunker down. Thank you dalton for creating this thread and creating awareness to this storm. IU fans in Florida, please do what you think is right no matter what our government decides. Be smart. Stuff can be replaced. Lives cannot. Be strong, help your neighbor. Be a good person. Go Hoosiers

A lot of board chatter has assumed or projected that some comments Arch made at his introductory press conference mean we won't use all thirteen scholarships regularly. I'm sure there are some years that's the case, but from a resource allocation standpoint, it will typically make sense to use all of them one way or another. Yes, sometimes a late transfer or recruiting decision will go against you. But you have thirteen "chips" to use each year and you can't carry them forward to have fourteen in other years. Thus it's rarely optimal to leave one vacant. Maybe you have reason not to make a four year commitment to a player who may not prove worth it. But there are other options: grad transfers, rewarding a Jeff Howard/McRoberts-type walkon as a senior, etc. And guys leave, too. Coaches know that's coming before we, the general public, do. So what looks like an oversign may just be wise roster management with more info than we have.

(2018) PF Jake Forrester to IU

The article shows more tape on him than I had seen previously. The kid's a stud; he's athletic, showed some mid range plus out to 3, and looks to rebound like a beast. At 6'9" and growing, he has a lot of upside. I will defer to Arch, and I would happily welcome him to IU. The schollies will always work themselves out.

anytime we are in the mix with croots and we can get them to come to HH or a big game, it gives us a chance to swing momentum our way. Bloomington will be buzzing and ready to show these boys a good time. Exciting times!

Well deserved tie and I don't say that often. We have tied Maryland every game almost since they joined the Big Ten which is not a bad result. The problem the last few years has been our inability to beat the other Big Ten teams we should who are far less talented than either of the teams tonight. Most nights if we bring it like that we put 2-3 goals home but Maryland's D is elite as is their goalie. Just bring that effort every night and we will win almost every game this year. Our D is maybe the best in the country (1 goal given up in 5 games now) and completely shut down maybe the best attack in the country and most nights we will get goals doing the same thing against most teams but this one. Our ranking of 4 is about right. We are elite in every aspect. This team appears to be the first one since the early Freitag days that doesn't have a glaring weakness in either scoring or defense.

The New Albany five-star shooting guard will travel to Bloomington for Indiana's Hoosier Hysteria, the program's unofficial basketball tip-off event, on Oct. 21, his father, Tim Langford, told the Courier-Journal. Tim and Romeo's mother, Sabrina, plan to go with their son, which will be an unofficial visit, Tim Langford said. http://www.courier-journal.com/story/sports/college/kentucky/2017/09/08/new-albany-2018-five-star-recruit-romeo-langford-sets-up-visit-see-indiana-basketballs-hoosier-hyste/646549001/

Just wanted to reach out to you all and say stay safe. I know most of y’all reached out to me during Harvey and it looks like you’ve got something worse headed your way. I know nips, Stu, Josh, and a couple others all live in Florida so whether you stayed or evacuated my best wishes to you, your families, and everyone else in Florida and the other states along that coast. To be eliminated, you first have to be considered.

I've said it for awhile and will continue to say it. We could do a lot worse than Forrester in the backup role. I'm not a huge fan of 7 player classes but I feel pretty confident that Garland and Romeo will be gone after a year or two. That would leave us a good 1-5 with the remaining players that should be there at least 3 years. I wouldn't want to see it every year but it could work.

Man this crap is getting scary. My house is completely boarded and sandbagged. Cops are roaming my street with a megaphone. I appreciate the warning. But this storm has changed course so many times, I know people who have fled the East coast to move here. Only to get forced back there. Who knows at this point. I live on an island within Tampa Bay. I'm sure I gotta go. We'll decide in the early morning where that is. Stay safe everybody. Make good decisions. Go Hoosiers.

Remember you have 3 freshman here that Archie didn't really recruit. Plus you have some sophomores who are not probably get the playing time they want who were also recruited by another coach. Also there is the new rule being looked at that you can transfer maybe without sitting out that would start next season. I'm just saying about the verbals that kids change their minds and they have been told upfront about everything that is going on. And lastly like you said the odds are we don't get all three

Lady Hoosiers with a goal from Maya Piper (4th of the season) at 79’ from a corner kick by Meghan Scott and an assist from Mykayla Brown take a 1-0 victory over #23 ranked SMU and move to 4-3 on the season. IU with 9 total shots; 3 on goal. SMU with 12 total shots; 4 on goal. Room for improvement as the IU Ladies were whistled for 13 fouls and committed 8 offside penalties. Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET, the Lady Hoosiers take on North Texas and then open the B1G season on the 14th in East Lansing.

One of the few teams we play that's as talented as us and we have more than held our own. We had 2 excellent chances to their none and were just slightly better but no goals. I will say having Toye up there at forward who is so much faster than Hyacinth gives you so many more scoring opportunities. With that said Hyacinth has improved a ton over the summer to not hurt us and to play pretty well but still has some limitations with his speed and skills. Its fun watching an elite offense vs. an elite defense for both teams. No matter what happens tonight I can finally say for the first time since we won the title in 2012 we have elite players in all 4 aspects of the game. This freshman class looks to me like the first set of true "ambien players" (as former colts coach Rick Venturi would say) since the Freitag days. Yeagley had been recruiting well but not up to the level of Freitag and his dad. Freitag just couldn't develop his players. Yeagley has always developed talent well but his recruiting while solid lacked the elite players of the past. This class with Dorsey and Rennicks who are his first 5* recruits in a while plus several other 4* top 100 players (Toye, Warr and several others who have not seen the field) finally has the talent from our glory days. If he can recruit like this every year we will be back where his dad had us soon.
