10 pointsI don't disagree with the premise that recruiting has to improve, but there are many different ways to win than taking 5 one and dones in a year. Consistently pulling top 50 players every year is more of a recipe for sustainable success than pulling multiple one and dones. The one thing I disagree with strongly is there is any one player that is a "must get". Especially more than a year from signing date for the one. So many things can change. There are a number of things that could change. For Romeo, I want the kid. I just don't get why it is a huge disappointment if he wouldn't come here like people act like. Is a perception thing as a fan that would make you guys feel like this hire is different? Because each of our last three coaches pulled a top 20 talent in their first couple of years. Pulling a player doesn't change anything. A player isn't a program changer. Winning is the only program changer. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Personally I don't think any players are "must get" recruits. We need a certain level of talent to compete at the level we want to compete at, but there is more than one combination of players that can get us there. Romeo or Brooks aren't must gets, players at that talent level are. -

Zeller impacted the game much more significantly than his PPG indicates. Same as Soph and Junior Oladipo. Zeller in particular made everyone better. Zeller also was our go to guy when we needed a bucket. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners -

It's not one game. We saw him all last year against all levels of competition. Nobody is blaming the game on him. All people are saying is that based on that game he looks like the same Lagow as he did last season. And that's not a good thing (although not at all surprising to me). Also, calling Ohio St. an NFL team is laughable. -

U.K.? Yes. Duke? Yes. UNC? No they don't pull multiple 5* every year. They may pull one, but they mostly sit in the 30-50 range. Some years they do pull multiple but not every year. Roster turnover is not conducive to sustained title contending success. Only Duke and U.K. won with Freshman leading their team. Each happened once. You know what UNC won with? Juniors and Seniors. Same as Nova, UConn, etc. there are multiple ways to recruit and no such thing as absolute must have. That is what I am saying. The most important recruits are the ones that sign on the dotted line. If they aren't good enough to win, then Archie won't last long. Simple as that. OAD talent sounds great on paper, but the tournament success just isn't the norm for those types of players. Usually the 5* that stays a couple of years win titles. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -
3 pointsHe did, but a big part of his freshman year was improved Juniors Watford, Hulls, Sophomores Oladipo, and Sheehey. If we can't recognize an upper class of a top ten recruiting improved finally and the rise of Oladipo and Sheehey also playing a role in this. An excellent top 20 player with a solid year was a perfect storm. That doesn't make him transcendent. I look at transcendent like Okafor and Anthony Davis as freshman. Defensively Davis changed the game. Okafor getting double doubles nightly as a Freshman is transcendent. Transcendent means to lead beyond normal. We went to the Sweet 16. That isn't transcendent. He was a very good Freshman. I wish we could get another him. But he couldn't lead a team as a Freshman to a title. That's what I am saying. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Yes with Zeller and a top 10 class two years prior to him coming we went from last to first in two years. That top ten class wasn't an instant impact class. They were a class that was going to be good as upperclassmen. Perfect timing getting Zeller. We didn't have a Zeller type of player prior. A big that got up and down the floor. We had Pritch. Romeo is a one and done player. His impact will be for one year. Yes he will improve us but not make or break us. Not in the least. He is not a transcendent talent. Great talent? Yes. Improve our team? Yes. Now if we were in on Marvin Bagley he would be a transcendent talent. Romeo will go to either IU or UL and probably get 15-17 points a game. He will be a lottery talent. He will not put either of us on a championship level. Both teams will need more talent to compete. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

I actually agree with everyone on here because there is only one way to consistently be there in the end and that is excellent recruiting year in year out. Everyone has their preferred way of doing it snd I like the DUKE method. Now, as far as must gets...is Romeo a must get? Is Brooks a must get? Yes! Because the BPA is always must gets! Especially from your state when you are the state school. Except a handful of highly ranked in state kids, we have failed to recruit the best within our borders for far too long. What to show for it? Couple of B10 titles in 20 some yrs. Don't tell me 5* in state players aren't a must! Sent from my SM-G930P using BtownBanners mobile app -

Yes! There are a few folks here that don't understand what a must get is. Frankly I don't think there is such a thing when it comes to any one recruit. Archie landing top 50 type players is key to longterm success not Romeo, not Brooke's etc. we need to have a steady and balanced roster of talent, it could come in a plethora of ways, not contingent on one or even a few players. Would love to have these aforementioned guys but if we landed hurt and wiseman and not Brooke's and Watford for example does it really matter? Talent is talent and there are a lot of players that fit that bill Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

How did they fleece us? Dorsett was a horrible draft pick when we made it, and he ended up sucking all but maybe 2% of the snaps he played. Stupid east coast bias. -

It would be wonderful to see light years improvement in MSB but we've probably seen the best he has to offer and if he's getting extended minutes this season it's probably because we're in deep doo doo depth wise. It would be interesting to speculate on what kind of improvement, if any, MSB might have made had our coaching change been made in 2016 and he'd have had a full year under Archie. -

I'm sorry, but you're the one who appears to have the bias. No, not all turnovers are the quarterback's fault. However when you have a history of multiple turnover games, you have to see the forest for the trees. There's a trend here that you can't ignore. Sent from my SM-G920P using BtownBanners mobile app
