That's tough. On one hand I definitely want to land Langford but would hate to see you have a heart attack over it. I guess for the good of the team a small heart attack wouldn't hurt!

    IU Football 2017 Recruiting Class

Just was wondering who you all thought would be good freshman impact players. My top 5 yes I think we have that and probably more. 1. Ladamion Hunt (DB). Reminds me of Marcelino. Big DB has a lot of athleticism. Will make an impact and I think be a better cover husky. 2. Morgan Ellison (RB). People are talking about RB a lot and I think Morgan steps up. We have a lot of numbers and bodies at RB. But I think this kid turns heads. Reminds me of a young Tevin. Remember this kid had one of the highest ratings at a Nike camp all year in the nation 3. Juan Harris (DT). Kid was highly rated in some places Early year enrollee. Coaches said he needed to be patient and learn. I think he will. He is also stronger than an ox supposedly. I think he matures quickly and fills in the void. Reminds me of a Ralph Green. Wants to contribute early. 4. Peyton whitehead (punter). Yes our punter from last year can run a 4.40 forty, but he was very inconsistent. From what I saw in spring game... Yes it wasn't full go, but Peyton has a huge leg. A huge leg. (I believe he is a sophomore) but a newcomer, hello new Tyson Beatty lol 5. Mike McGinnis (LB). Will fill the role of Marcus Oliver. He made some bad reads. But this kid reminds me of Kyle Killion from back in the day. Hard nosed Lb. Goes where the ball is and will take on a lineman. Yes we return a lot on the defensive side but I think a lot will contribute on that side of the ball as youngsters. Honorable Mention- Nick Tronti (QB)- I love everything about this kid. Hard worker, playbook smart, athletic. I don't think he really plays this year, will use redshirt. But will be key in practices. Reminds me of Tebow. There is a reason he was Mr. football in Florida. Also the reason not highly ranked was because the kid took the summer and spring to learn his playbook and study hard. It helped in long run. Watch out for this kid in the coming years. Whop Philyor (WR)- look for him to possibly be in return game as well as his Hs teammate (Juwan Burgess). Both have the speed and athleticism, the reason I will not really add juwan is because I'm not sure where they will play him lastly I'll add Bryant Fitzgerald(ATH)- only because I wish him well as a former oriole, I think he will play more defense in college than offense, but he wants to be the next peppers, I think he is athletic enough and has proven it on both sides of the ball thats all Luce is out

She also chipped in 4.6 assists per game and shot 46 percent from the floor along with a 32.7 percent 3-point range. The Fairborn, Ohio native finished her career 13th all-time in career scoring with 1,343 points and ninth all-time in rebounds with 749. In 2016-17, she scored in double figures in 26 games and set a new career-high with 26 points against Minnesota. She also pulled down a career-high 20 rebounds against Oakland which was the seventh-best single game performance at Indiana. She was part of Indiana's all-time winningest class, collecting 80 wins and earning three postseason berths. Gassion made 115 career starts for the cream and crimson while averaging 31.4 minutes per game. http://iuhoosiers.com/news/2017/5/30/womens-basketball-alexis-gassion-signs-professional-contract.aspx

    2018 General Recruiting Thread

They'll only be freshmen but that's a backcourt that could compete for a conference title and a run in the tourney. Upperclassmen Morgan and Davis in the front court should be able to hold their own with most other players in the country too.

Imagine our fanbase if we can pull Romeo and Garland. So excited to see what Archie does with this big class. Aim for the stars and hopefully end up somewhere close. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

(2019) PG Jeremiah Francis to UNC

Pickerington, OH (Pickerington Central) 6-3 / 190 247 Scout ESPN Rivals A former Dayton offer who CAM is continuing to recruit here at Indiana. Son of Ohio state graduates and from Pickerington. Plays for Indiana Elite in AAU. From Scout: One of the best performers at point guard in the 2019 class all spring has been Jeremiah Francis. Running with Indiana Elite, Francis has shown a high IQ and improved skills all spring long, and he remains a priority recruit for heavy hitters all around the Midwest. "The spring I think went really well," said Francis. "This has been my first spring with Indiana Elite and it has gone really well, so it has been a lot of fun." On the recruiting trail Francis has scholarship offers from Ohio State, West Virginia, Purdue, Iowa, Butler and others, and with his play continuing to improve, more offers could be on the way. One school that Francis is extremely familiar with is Ohio State. He is the son of two former Ohio State athletes, and has known assistant Chris Jent for years. About the Buckeyes, Francis said, "Coach Jent says if I come to Ohio State they will let me go and I will run the program. My dad and Coach Jent have a really tight relationship, and I am tight with Coach Jent as well. All of the coaches just say I will be a point guard who runs the team from day one." Also the West Virginia Mountaineers have been in close contact. Francis is taking a strong look at the program and is fond of Bob Huggins and his staff. "It’s West Virginia," said Francis of the program. "Coach Huggins is a Hall of Fame coach and lets his guards play. They play my style which is up and down, and it is hard to say no to a Hall of Fame coach when he wants you, so I think West Virginia would be a good situation for me." One school that has picked things up recently is Indiana. Archie Miller had offered Francis when at Dayton, and now he is continuing the recruitment at Indiana. "I have heard from Coach Bruiser (Flint)," said Francis. "They saw me in Atlanta and have been contacting me ever since." He continued about Indiana, "I know they really had it going at Dayton and Coach Miller is a really good coach. I went to a few of their practices at Dayton, and they do a lot of skill work and Coach Miller is a really good guy." For now Francis says he is in no hurry to decide on a school. He doesn't know where, but he does know he will take some visits in June and continue to learn about all of the schools recruiting him. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

I'm all in favor of using the last scholarship of the right player is available. I don't want 6 fresh recruits coming in next season. That's not a successful way of running a college program imo. If the 13th scholarship is going to be open more often than not banking it isn't a big deal either. If Carter is that undersized junkyard dog type than I'm all for adding him. We could definitely use that player that instantly brings that extra level of toughness ala Moye, White, etc. You can't teach that toughness but it seems infectious to the rest of the team. Davis seems like a player that enjoys a little extra contact. I think Durham is in that same mold.

Holding the scholarship doesn't make sense to me since we have 5 slots at minimum next season. Carter appears to be a mis ranked player that is on the rise. Will be a 4 star in 2018 class. He's more than holding his own in EYBL. He's a gritty, hard working, athletic player. 6'6" is good size. I think Clifton Moore is going to be able to contribute this year and surprise a lot of people. Seems like a solid get at this stage of the game. BUT Moretti is visiting now so the staff is still exploring options and will decide what best benefits us. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners

I am. U of L is consistently good and Pitino is still one of the best coaches. It would help if he announced this his last year lol. Still think we are in it till the end for this kid with Archie making up more and more ground the longer this recruitment goes on. Him & Garland would be a dream scenario and seems actually very possible. Sets up for Trendon & Keion in 19' with hopefully James Wiseman. Sent from my LGLS676 using BtownBanners mobile app

The last thing I want to see happen is recruiting kids just because of who might sit at courtside. And if who's sitting at courtside is the determining factor for a recruit to pick IU over another school, then quite honestly, I don't care if the kid goes elsewhere because he's not really that interested in playing for IU just at IU. Kick me all you want, but that's the way this old fart feels.

It's not choosing "because of" it's a plus factor. If you really can't decide between two restaurants because they're both awesome in their own unique ways and then you find out Paul McCartney will be eating at one of them, it nudges the equation a little. Alternatively, a recruit may be introduced to another side of IU through a famous instagram or something like that and find he wants to prioritize.

Small school basketball isn't for everyone. Idk any specifics about Vijay, but I could see him not liking playing in front of a few hundred fans every night after watching his brother play in Assembly Hall and such. Being a walk-on at a school like IU might be a more enjoyable experience.

CAM wants to make IU cool again. If we use a scholarship on Carter it might help us with the big fish when they see Jay-Z court side at Assembly hall. In the end it could help us way more than a big could this year for one year Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
