"His teams at Dayton were reputed for their tough-nosed defense, never once averaging a point per possession allowed over an entire season." Wow. I can't wait to have that type of defense here again. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

It's going to get very interesting if some of the NBA hopefuls come back, and then we have two oversigned (assuming Moore stays on). The likely guys would be two of Gelon, Priller, and McSwain. So many potenial questions and scenarios that are easy to talk about, but hard to truly know at this point. Which is what is great about message boards :) I do like our recruiting class, regardless of rank. I think it will be a good building foundation for Coach Miller, and then get the top recruits in 2018 and beyong. What's not to love about having experiences sophs+ with top rate freshmen!?

IU commit Justin Smith one of four finalists in slam-dunk contest, advancing to Saturday's finals at Derby Festival game. Ky. Mr. Basketball Taveion Hollingsworth (WKU) and Chuma Okeke (Auburn) defeated Al Durham (IU) and Naji Marshall (Xavier) in 2-on-2 championship.

The potential/ceiling for Clifton Moore is immense. Still needs polish and refinement, but long-term prospectus is very strong. 6-10. @jonrothstein Indiana signee Clifton Moore is still waiting for his release. Met with Archie Miller last week. Indiana is still a legitimate option. Moore plans on talking to Archie again this weekend. He also said "I don't know yet" when I asked if he still wanted the release. @jeffborzello 6-foot-10 Clifton Moore says he's on 'good terms' with IU coach Archie Miller and must decide by Monday what to do. Already drooling over watching a proper defense. Pairing Archie's respectful defensive with better recruits should be a thing of beauty in the next few years. Once he gets 2-3 years of players engraved in to help new recruits with the defensive scheme, we should be rolling! Sent from my SCH-I545 using BtownBanners mobile app

I kind of like the fact that redshirting is being discussed again.

My takes from last night 1.Ramsey played very well for his age. Very quick. Zander like movement. 2. Lagow had no help from receivers besides simmie. RBs and some WRs dropped like 7+ passes that were placed perfectly. I think we will be fine and I think he will be fine. (Wish we did first team O vs first team D just to see for a quarter or something. 3. Hard to gauge either line. Especially when starters are split up and what not. I liked the draft format but like above I wish we could have seen 1v1s. 4. Juan Harris had a few jitters (jumping offsides twice I believe). But he is a huge dude. However, he had some great pushes off the ball. He extends and gets separation from OL. 5. Riggins played really well against simmie. Having him and Fant will be great again. Our DBs are loaded we have a ton of talent and size back there. Along with LBs solid speed and size. 6. Ball is a beast still. He looked faster, bigger, and made good reads (glad he didn't take anyone's head off). 7. Hayden Whitehead. Welcome to Bloomington mate. What a leg. What a leg. He had some very very good punts last night. Granted he didn't have anyone running at him. But hangtime and distance Wowza. Sorry Gedion I love that you can run a 4.4 40 as a punter but Hayden is legit. Thank you Australia. 8. WR corps is loaded with size speed. A lot of young kids to keep an eye on. TE to unit seems deep as well. 9. RBs out last night Gest, Natee, Majette were on sidelines for their teams. I didn't see Patrick or Williams. Arod looks to have picked up some speed. 10. I think we will get pressure and sacks on opposing QBs. Granted both lines were a hodgepodge of first and second teamers....but there were a lot of hurries and sacks called last night. Overall im excited to see what this team can do against OSU for our first game. The crowd was engaged and I was surprised with the amount of fans that came out and students. Especially for a Thursday night 7:00 kick off we had more than last years spring game for sure. It's gonna suck not having our nice video board. Can't yell at the zebras when they miss a call. Having the stadium enclosed will be cool tho!! Gonna be world class. Cheers red men and sorry for my long post. Luce is out

Ramsey outplayed Lagow imo. Ideally I'd like Ramsey to sit another year if we had a good B1G level starter but we don't so I hope he gets the nod this year. Glad Fant is ok, that looked horrible and my biggest concern was I hope he didn't break his neck. Ball is an absolute freak, his run on offense was impressive. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

I've said for a long time this is an important get for Indiana and Miller. He is a kid who makes others better, gets the ball to the right spot all the time, and he's as tough as a $2 steak. As much as I'd love to get Romeo Langford, this kid may be more important for the program because he'll be here 4 years in all likelihood, and I love me some senior point guards.

SERIES SCHEDULE Game One - Friday, 6 p.m. Game Two - Saturday, 2 p.m. Game Three - Sunday, 1 p.m. SCOUTING OHIO STATE The Buckeyes, who are Indiana's sixth ranked opponent of the season, are coming off a Wednesday doubleheader split at Penn State and sit at an 8-3 Big Ten record. Last weekend, they dropped the first two games against Michigan before winning the series finale. Ohio State's other conference series have resulted in sweeps of Rutgers and Maryland. Ohio State is hitting .302 as a team with eight everyday batters averaging .300 or better led by a .407 mark from Lilli Piper, which is seventh best in the Big Ten. Piper has 46 hits on the year with 32 runs and 39 RBI. Alex Bayne leads the team in homers with 11 while Piper has 10 as Ohio State's 42 home runs is tied for first in the Big Ten. In the circle, the Buckeyes have a team ERA of 2.36 and have primarily used a four-pitcher rotation. Shelby Hursh (2.35 ERA, 9-4, 80.1 IP) has logged the most innings, followed by Lena Springer (2.50 ERA, 8-3, 64.1 IP). IU and Ohio State's last series came in 2016 at Andy Mohr Field. Indiana won the first game in eight innings before Ohio State took game two. In the rubber match, Michelle Huber hit a sixth-inning grand slam to lead Indiana to a 5-3 win and the series victory. LAST TIME OUT Indiana hosted Purdue on Tuesday, splitting the doubleheader with the Boilermakers. IU won the first game, 4-0, behind a complete game shutout by sophomore Tara Trainer. The Boilermakers battled back late to take the final game, 2-1. JENKINS, LACEFIELD SHINE AGAINST PURDUE • Freshman Gabbi Jenkins had a big day at the plate on Tuesday against Purdue. In the first game, she collected a hit, run and a walk before a 4-for-4 showing in game two. The four hits tied her career high. • Fellow freshman Katie Lacefield also had a career outing against the Boilermakers. In Indiana's 4-0 win, she was responsible for bringing in three runs, a career best in RBI. Lacefield earned a bases-loaded walk and a two-run double in the victory. SEEING DOUBLE • After picking up three more doubles on Tuesday, the Hoosiers now have 58 on the season, which is tied for second in the Big Ten. • Indiana's out-doubling its opponents 58-46 this year • IU's 1.45 doubles per game average is 43rd in the country. • The Hoosiers finished the 2016 campaign with 69 doubles, which was fourth all-time in program history. • Junior Taylor Uden leads the way with nine doubles, while Lacefield, senior Erin Lehman, juniors Aimilia McDonough and Rachel O'Malley each have seven on the season. OFFENSIVE NOTES • IU has knocked 21 home runs this season, led by seven from Tsirigos and six from Uden. Tsirigos has tied her career high from a year ago, while Uden's previous best was five. Tsirigos currently has 24 career home runs, tied for seventh most in a career at Indiana. • Tsirigos twice homered in the Friday contest at No. 7 Minnesota, setting a new career high for home runs in a game and marking the first time since May 7, 2016 that a Hoosier has done so. • Last season, the Hoosiers finished the year with 26 homers. • Indiana's 121 walks this year is fourth in the Big Ten. Tsirigos leads the team with 23, which ranks 89th in the country, while freshman Katie Lacefield has 20. Tsirigos' 103 career walks is third all-time at IU. • Speaking of Tsirigos, she is hitting a team-best .440 in Big Ten play. In those 11 games, she has 11 hits, 14 RBI, six runs and five homers. TRAINER'S STRIKEOUT RANKINGS Tara Trainer has 137 strikeouts on the year, good for 33rd nationally and third in the Big Ten. A season ago, the righty, who was named No. 21 on Fastpitch News' Preseason Top 50 NCAA Softball Pitchers List, set the Indiana freshman strikeout record with 183. Trainer has tossed 12 complete games so far this year, doubling her number from 2016. http://iuhoosiers.com/news/2017/4/13/softball-hoosiers-head-to-no-25-ohio-state-this-weekend.aspx

"I want to show (Indiana fans) they’re not just getting any regular point guard. They’re getting somebody who is going to fight for Indiana and is going to go hard for Indiana across his chest." That's exactly what kind of player I want to see rocking the candy stripes. I didn't know he was a point guard though, I thought he was a 2.

I think in high school, when you're the best player on your team, the ball is generally just in your hands. He definitely falls into the "combo guard" bucket that Crean filled up. That said, I watched a bunch of his videos for this purpose. He does have a nasty bounce pass he uses in transition, and his ball handling is excellent. When you watch him, he definitely works to draw the defense with him to get a man open. And he's fast and long enough with his drives to keep the defense honest.
