Once again I feel like I have to share this every couple of years. I have never said I'm an insider, I've never said anyone should believe anything I say, I've never pushed anything I've heard as fact. I've never said you need to read anything I write or hear. All I have ever said is I will always share what I hear. If the mods want me to stop doing that I'm fine with that. I didn't show up yesterday with an agenda. I've been here for many years. If you feel the need to take your shots at me, go for it, I'm a big boy. As someone told me yesterday I should disappear and come back with a different name. But I enjoy this board and the many friends I have made over the last 10 years. -

Let’s just watch this game knowing we’re most likely to have a new coach next season. Hopefully will have more later. Trying to get some clarification on a good rumor. -

From my brief experience as a low-level employee in an SEC Ath department decades ago, most buyouts originate from donors since they typically aren’t considered “salary “ or “compensation” in the sense of belonging in the same lines of a university’s budget. But that’s not ironclad, as Jimbo Fisher’s buyout proves. The raise/buyout info re: Woodson was public record info ever since it was announced a year ago, and as soon as I saw it I thought “Dolson’s trading a smaller total buyout amount on April 1st of 2025 for the opportunity to amortize a larger buyout amount over 8 years OR (given Woodson’s age) another opportunity to renegotiate the new buyout amount down.” Reading what few actual tea leaves seem to be out there at the moment, I get the impression that 1) Dolson wants to move on, 2) Buckner wants to stay put, and 3) Pres Whitten may not yet want to be involved (but may soon have to be nonetheless). I have no idea if Pearl (or, more accurately, Pearl’s agent) is now involved, or if Dusty May’s representatives have been fully engaged, but perhaps things have reached some sort of standoff between the folks who want Woodson retained (Buckner, Cooks, Simons, some former players?) and those who strongly feel a change needs to be made (possibly Dolson, some other donors, some other former players, most of the fanbase?). If that’s where matters are at this point in time, history tells me that some sort of exogenous or “outside” event may have to happen to break the stalemate. It seems to me that the most likely event fitting that description might come from the one group directly embroiled in this that possibly has the least concern about what the BOT and donors think: players on the current roster. If enough rumors are true and a “critical mass” of players plan to leave AND Dolson can convince others of that likelihood, maybe that could break the logjam and persuade Pres Whitten, enough donors, and if not QB himself then enough other Trustees, that the status quo is no longer sustainable, and as a result could possibly force the change that so many of us feel is desperately needed. If such a chain of events led to Bruce Pearl, so be it. If it brought home a “native son” like Dusty May, so be it. If I could talk with either of them for 5 minutes I would say “whatever else you do, hire ASAP someone like Matt Graves on your staff because in-state recruiting is on life support and he can do the CPR necessary to revive it.” -

Trilly just confirmed the Galloway info I posted here last week (and initially about 3-4 weeks ago). That is why BTB is the goat. I posted that here and you guys took a very relaxed and logical approach - "this sucks, lets see what happens" I posted it at Peegs and immediately - "FRAUD!, NO POSTS, etc" Already canceled by Peegs membership and staying right at home here. -

Saw on the other site that Trilly said Dolson met with some notable former players today and their message to him was that they want Woodson gone. -

Yeahhhhh, appreciate the intent, but specifics that get back to sources are how you lose sources. Can’t really go there my friend. I’ll say this, it’s a specially called meeting, not a standing appointment, and the big boys/girls will be at the table for this one. Is that fair? -

Damn ya'll the Trilly drop is 2 hours old now I figured I show up to tons of comments.. He said he got a text from another guy today who he trusts. He said that this guy must have talked to someone in Pearl's corner and he said that Pearl to IU is very close. -

I suppose it’s about time for me to get involved. Chris and Kathy have carried a lot of weight based on my skimming of the last 30 pages. :) Kathy, welcome, PM me if you’re interested in comparing sources and info privately. Couple nuggets: 1) We (as a board) are a little out in front of this one, things are happening, but aren’t as developed as the tea leaves trying to be read. 2) There’s a meeting happening next Tuesday that will likely via leaks/smoke shed some light on the administration’s focus. 3) Yes, the admins all have aides/hands that can get stuff out to support their efforts, but keep in mind some of the reporters and writer’s are just trying to be first to scoop the story and know they can always walk it back as “things changed” when they’re wrong. Currently this is happening, as they’re ahead of any real story or discussions. 4) Worth noting that Buckner was a strong supporter of Chris Reynolds for the AD spot. Take that for what you will. 5) Don’t be surprised if Pearl is the Brad Stevens of this cycle should we get to that point. That’s all for now. Chris PM me if you wanna confirm something I’ve heard that’s very non-public right now. -

There is a good chance we can finally get rid of the Hysterics. Eric went live on Twitter saying it’s the fans fault. He clearly got that from the staff. He’s been ripped on Peegs in multiple threads for the last 2 hours. They are hammering him. I love it. -

Happened to me yesterday. Had an insanely busy day, pulled this up to about 9-10 unread pages. Cracked a beer and settled in to find everyone here went to high school together and people ride bikes. -

The risk of keeping Mike Woodson past this season is far greater than the risk of moving on... IMHO -

I didn't feel like typing this last night, but I don't have a busy day today and figure I'd share an encounter I had a few weeks ago with someone who I feel is qualified to say what they had to say. So a few weeks ago I ran into Mike Berghoff at a Pacers game. For those who don't know, Mike is head of the Board of Trustees at Purdue. Mike and I go way back. Lived in the same neighborhood for many years and attended the same parish/school where some of our kids ran in the same circles. Hadn't seen him in awhile but small talk quickly turned into a conversation about IU/PU and the direction of both programs. After about 30 seconds of rambling on about Woodson he politely cut me off and said this: "The problem isn't Woodson, look at your leadership. Look at who has been running your athletic department the last 10-15 years. Fred Glass? He's a lawyer. Scott Dolson? He's a fundraising guy. Who qualifications do either of those guys have in evaluating and conducting a coaching search?" Of course I couldn't disagree with him and he went even further. Went on tell me that after being appointed chairman, his first big athletic task was naming a successor to Morgan Burke who had just announced his retirement. He said he along with the rest of the board, Mitch Daniels, and a small advisory group consisting of former Purdue athletes identified 5-6 candidates. He said the one qualification each candidate must possess was prior experience as an AD (shocking). Said Mike Bobinski was easily the most impressive interview despite not being the most qualified candidate and that was with Mike Bobinski already holding the title of AD at two other universities. He said only one time in nearly 10 years has Mike Bobinski come to him for permission to do something and that was firing Darrell Hazell mid-season. He simply said, "can't believe you didn't ask me sooner". He went on to tell me that during the search for Hazzell's replacement he gave 2 order to Bobinski: 1) This is your budget 2) Use your head He wanted no part of stepping on Bobinski's toes because at the end of the day that was why they hired Bobinski in the first place. Just thought it was interesting to hear a perspective from a rival school from someone so close to the situation. Just goes to show how dysfunctional the leadership at Indiana has gotten. -

I look at it from the opposite direction. I don't think that Dolson, Whitten, or top donors follow this board or Rabjohns (though certainly some have read along at times). However; Rabjohns needs access and information from the administration and coaching staff. When Rabby puts all of his chips in on a litany of problems with Woody, to me that's a reasonable indication that Rabby thinks he can do so without losing his access from next year's head coach. In other words, Rabjohns clearly believes that pissing off Mike Woodson will be a moot point that will not be detrimental to him. -

I know it's probably that simple in your small little world. But more than that it's who you talk to. If you are talking to someone in the athletic department than they want him gone. Most former players want him gone. If you are talking to someone in Buckner's camp he's back there are no questions asked. People say they want info but then when I give it you accuse me of doing things for clicks. I don't get anything for sharing what I hear. -
