I do like their Zombie Dust….

It's remarkable that one of the pioneers of basketball analytics, Wayne Winston, works less than a mile from assembly hall, and I don't believe any coach at IU has been receptive to his input or help. The egos on college basketball coaches are something else.

Here’s my current favorite… ….nothing fancy, but LOVE the taste!

Also agree,….. I almost wish he was 10-20 years younger at this point, had descent college coaching experience under his belt prior to IU, then this could/might or maybe be a well written story. JMO It’s no secret that he has owed most everything to Coach Knight and what he did for him as a player and a man. Unfortunately his approach is a bit outdated and crass. I have no doubt that Coach Woodson wants the world for IU Basketball and he knows he’s late to the college game. IMO, He’s most likely living/practicing the old adage, “If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em”, when it comes to constructing a roster with the NIL. He may be thinking he’s a little too old and doesn’t have the energy to get out on the rigorous recruiting trail, like seasoned NCAA coaches do. I know this screams, “then why are you gambling with time and IU’s money?” Finally, I honestly think he wants this one last shot to bring prominence and national notoriety to IU before he retires. Like it or not, If it wasn’t for NIL, Coach Woodson would most likely already be fired. JMHO

That was only 5 years ago? It seems longer than that. Man, IU has been bad for so long.

You guys know me. I wanted to move on. Especially if it could have been Oats. Pearl I would have loved more 5 years ago, but still would have supported that. May, I’m not as sold on as many others but he’s got big potential. But he’s not a sure thing. The second aspect in all of this is style of play. Taking winning aside. Alabama, UNC, even Illinois, Purdue. But there are many examples of offenses, probably 150 of them I enjoy over Indiana. That’s ridiculous and that is something that needs changed. But it’s not Woody. The voluptuous warchest is definitely a glimmer of hope. It’s actually the only hope. And it does lead to some excitement from me. But then I remember our staffs choices thus far and I have reservations again. Tony Perkins, of all the options? Is that really what we want to do? I’ve lost 100% of my confidence in Woody’s system but I haven’t lost 100% of confidence in what a great roster can do. Do I think our achievement is capped? Yeah. It’s a mixed bag of emotions but since it’s Woody, at least he’s got a warchest or I’d be checked out. Next year decides his fate. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners

3 Floyds has a new variant called Armond Dust...

We had a guy using “getting to know the team” in February as an excuse. And now he needs to turnover over half the roster. You hit the nail on the head with how I view Tucker. Liam filled an obvious and quantifiable need on this roster. Tucker really doesn’t other than filling out the roster. And I agree with you on the NBA thing. He didn’t just come here to come off the bench. So my assumption is what we have is our out of position 2 guard that can’t shoot 3s pushing Gallo to the bench and keep playing MM and MR out of position. I’d almost wager a bet we land someone much better than a bench rim protector. Woody will land a high level 5. And it will be Groundhog Day.

Interesting analogy. Storms passed/storms ahead, and good roster additions are the eye of the hurricane. Gonna remember that one.

More like you are enjoying the brief sunshine from inside the eye of hurricane Michael as it passes over. Which I have done twice living in the FL panhandle.

I'm not saying he's going to go and average 12-14+ ppg right away next year, but I do think his game will translate pretty well in the Big East. With another offseason of hard work and if Holtmann has any decent development chops for guards, I could definitely see Gunn being a contributor/rotation player with a scoring focused role.

Gotta be somebody around here clued in on Evansville basketball. Does he have a chance to rebound and defend at the HM level? -
Coach Woodson has three assistants and Armond Hill to discuss basketball and strategize with. Randy Wittman and I believe one other person were hired as consultants the last few years to provide input to coach Woodson. The fact that we don't value the three-point shot and incorporate analytics into our style of play and roster construction is all on Mike Woodson. The information has to have been provided to him, so I have to assume he just chooses to ignore it.

Commits to Holtmann and DePaul. WIsh him the very best. -
He's a good kid that plays his @$$ off, and he's provided and would continue to provide some program continuity. I can see why UK fans are far more pissed at losing him than Wagner or Edwards.
-
Not to derail the thread but do you have a favorite IPA these days? I can't find anything new that I like. I'm stuck on Founders all day series mostly because I like buying 15 at a time instead of 6. I've heard that Woodson hates beer so for that he should be fired

MM did shoot 38% from 3 on 4.9 attempts during conference play, so we may get some shooting from him next year. If he plays at the 4 that would be great, but I’d be surprised if Woodson goes that route after his first three years. He wants to play through the post and doesn’t value the 3 ball I’m generally in favor of acquiring talent and worrying about the fit later, but not with this coach. Tucker/MM/Reneau at the 3-5 would be the ideal situation offensively, but not defensively. That’s the problem when you’re filling 6-7 roster spots. You have to take talent when you can get it, but the. The fit can become all jumbled.

Take ‘er for a ride…. If you like sweet wines like we do, (mainly my wife, I’m actually an IPA snob) lol…., it will be your new favorite.

I've never had it but would like to try it
-
The part about roster construction that makes it tough is our best players all kind of played out of position this season besides Ware. And of course, we want to keep Reneau and Mgbako because they are talented players but then we're filling in pieces where the roster isn't going to look right again. I just don't know how you can watch CBB and not say go get me some good guards. But for some reason we don't.

The portal tracker that I follow hasn't shown IU having much interest in any big men so far. It seems to me that we need a center and another player that can play the 4 and the 5. Is Reneau going to play most of his minutes next year as our center or power forward? He's definitely a great low post scorer, I just worry about Reneau guarding in the post.
